Maki could feel herself growing more and more contented as time passed. Feeling the gentle hand that was placed atop her own added to the feeling of complete bliss. She couldn’t remember a time before now where she had felt like this, it was all new to her yet it was not unwelcome. It was a nice change in pace, letting herself be so honest with another person.

Sensing Nozomi’s growing hesitation caused Maki to worry again. Perhaps she had pushed it to far this time? Though she didn’t think that was the case, seeing as though Nozomi herself had placed her hand atop her own. So what was the cause of this change in mood? Maki swallowed a lump that formed in her throat, nodding once she heard the call of her own name.

She was not expecting the next three words that came out of her mouth.

“You... Love me?”

The thought never crossed her mind that Nozomi could harbor such strong feelings for her, she honestly thought no one would feel that way for her, at least not any time soon. So it was no surprise that it came as a shock to the younger girl. Her heart pounded faster, trying to understand her own feelings for the older woman.

Did she love Nozomi? Just the thought of that alone caused the redhead to get more flustered. It was true what she was feeling was all new to her but was this feeling love?

She stared at the spiritual third year for a moment longer, trying to put together her own thoughts. Taking a slow, deep breath Maki decided she had found her own answer.

“Love.. huh?” She said in a gentle voice, bringing her head closer before pressing her forehead against Nozomi’s. “That explains this feeling... This tightness in my chest...�� She took another deep breath, calming her nerves to the best of her ability before continuing.

“I... l-love you too...”

“Yeah…” Nozomi’s worry immediately subsided as soon as she was met with such a gentle smile, reassuring words, and loving eyes. She didn’t think she’d ever see such an expression on Maki’s face, but it suited her. It was so pretty, she felt her heart skip a beat yet again– whose wouldn’t, when being looked at in such a way?

While returning her smile, she shifted her hand so it rested on Maki’s, placed softly on Nozomi’s cheek. Her emotions were running high, including her feelings for Maki. It could’ve been the mood and recent events influencing her, but she’d always knew she felt something for her, so now, more than ever, of course…

But could she say that? They’d just kissed, after all. She shouldn’t be nervous nor fear rejection, but she couldn’t help it. “Maki-chan, I…” Her eyes averted a bit, cheeks darkening. Hesitation seemed to flood within her, but what better time to say it than now? Mustering up some courage, she looked the first-year in the eyes again. If the other girl made her heart pound, her chest warm, and her cheeks red…it had to be that, right?

“I love you.”

After saying such a thing, Nozomi immediately wanted to turn away and hide her face. Her personality always did a 360 when it came to things like this, as much as she wished it wouldn’t. But Maki was being so affectionate, she couldn’t help but feel such a way.
