PETA #2
The rituals and activities done in this festival are native chants, songs and dances called talip and tad-do. There are other activities during the festival such as indigenous games, sports, street dancing, and the Search for Miss Dayag ti Apayao.
The holding and celebration of Say-am in the older days connotes status – that the family is respectable and well-to-do.

Considered as Apayao’s grandest, the Say-Am festival marks the founding anniversary of the province every February 14.  It is Isneg’s traditional way of offering thanksgiving to Alawagan, or the unseen supreme god. through native chants, songs and dances called talip and tad-do.

On July 15, 1987, the Cordillera Administrative Region was established and Kalinga-Apayao was split into two independent provinces with the passage of Republic Act No. 7878. As a celebration to the splitting of the two provinces they were doing the “Say-am” for the Iyapayao’s.
