I find it extremely beautiful how Duan Jia Xu starts falling for Sang Zhi after being taken care by her in Hospital after his surgery and in restaurant when she protects him as her impulse takes over and she doesn't take a second to splash the water back on women who splashed him. It's like he suddenly sees she's grown up, she's someone who's is now capable of protecting herself & him. Some one who finally stands up for him, someone who won't see him getting bullied and ask him to tolerate it because that's what he deserves and that he isn't the victim of the accident that happened when he too has suffered loss from that accident. In his whole 25 years life of loneliness finally someone stands up for him and I get why at that moment he falls for her, his gaze shifts from seeing her as a mei mei to a women. His gaze being shifted after the restaurant scene being highlighted both in drama and in book, it's like you can see the transition of how his gaze shifts and he starts to SEE HER, LIKE REALLY SEES HER, like how she has grown into this amazing women.
