Tin How Temple

The Chinese people have been around in San Francisco for about as long as the Americans who had moved during the gold rush. The temple one of the oldest still running temples in the United States today was reportedly founded by one of the earliest Chinese American men that have arrived in San Francisco. Previously destroyed by the earthquake in 1906 the temple was soon after rebuilt for anyone to visit and is still running currently today in Chinatown San Francisco as well.

Castro’s Pride Flag

San Francisco has been a culturally diverse city for years and that does not exclude the LGBTQ community. The city has been home to the pride parade for many years, but in 1978 a symbol for the community would be created in the shape of a rainbow flag. Gilbert Baker created the rainbow flag for a pride parade,and in 1997 this flag was placed by Gilbert Baker on a empty flagpole in remembrance of the first pride flag created.

Balmy Alley

Balmy Alley located in the Mission District is a street filled with Latin American art. The walls are decorated with murals depicting Latin American art styles and heritage through the art depicted. The Mujeres Muralistas were a famous group of all female Hispanic artists who were part of decorating this street with their art.

Sutro Baths

Adolph Sutro, previously the mayor of San Francisco decided to create a swimming facility called the Sutro Baths.The remains of the Sutro Baths show what used to be a inexpensive swimming facility for the locals in San Francisco in the late 1800′s. It was an educational experience as well at one point as it was essentially a museum displaying arts from around the world as well as understanding how locals once enjoyed their time in San Francisco.
