'i've just gotta be honest, horne," imogen used his surname fondly, smiling to herself as the laughter settled, enjoying the familiarity that now coddled her. her heart lurched, happy that they were still able to joke lightheartedly despite everything. part of her almost invited him over right there... but she knew she still needed a bit of time. still had to mourn the heartbreak that was churning within her. shaking it off, she widened her smile once more and focused on the man. "give kujo some treats for me, yeah?" imogen sighed. " yes, yeah... we'll talk soon. promise."

"wait, hold on. you're really gonna insult my ears right now? damn." he laughed a little, shaking his head. even though she couldn't see, he was sure she knew him enough to be able to imagine him the way he was imagining her. he smile, the way she would laugh, the light in her eyes. it was the best he could do, because he was so struck by the look on her face when that woman walked in. when he remembered that, he felt... well, he wasn't sure what he felt. disappointed, maybe. "a talent i didn't know you had in you. very impressive, edmunds." he took in a breath and then found himself standing up, pacing a bit. "i gotta go walk the man but i'll... talk to you later?"

"make me." camille's eyes flashed over to them, dead serious for a brief moment vefore giving their arm a squeeze and bursting into laughter. "just kidding, riv, obviously. you'd think you'd be used to my shit by now, but you still get this murderous look when i fuck around with you." it was adorable and half the reason camille did it. pouting, she pushed, "buy my burger and i'll stop?"

"shut up." by this point being arm and arm with camille was river's new normal. they'd ben playing at this charade a little while and it no longer felt uncomfortable or forced to be pressed into her side, which they supposed was weird in itself. "you hungry? i could go for a burger or something." they sighed wistfully as they made their way down the steps of the house party they'd been at.

brianna's jaw clenched as avery's words cut through the air like shrapnel. the mockery in her tone ignited a flame of frustration within brianna's chest, threatening to engulf her in a torrent of emotion. "trust?" brianna scoffed bitterly, her voice laced with pain. "trust implies a mutual understanding, avery. it's not just about saying the words; it's about living them. did you ever stop to think that trust goes both ways? that maybe, just maybe, i trusted you with more than you'll ever know? but instead of cherishing it, you tossed it aside like a piece of scrap metal." a heavy sigh escaped brianna's lips, her gaze falling to the ground as she fought to contain the storm raging within her. "i let you in, avery. against my better judgment, i let you see parts of me that i've kept hidden for years. and what did you do? you trampled all over them without a second thought. you talk about making me happy, but happiness isn't a one-way street. it's about compromise, understanding, and above all, trust." she paused, her voice trembling with the weight of unspoken pain. "you may think you've won a piece of my heart, avery, but all you've left behind is wreckage. and now, all that's left is the bitter taste of betrayal. so no, i don't trust you. not anymore." with those final words hanging heavily in the air, brianna turned away, her heart heavy with the burden of broken trust. ''trusting you was my biggest mistake.''
