Alison, pointing at the broken coffee machine: So. Who broke it? I'm not mad, I just want to know.
Pat: ...I did. I broke it.
Alison: No. No, you didn't. Julian?
Julian: Don't look at me. Look at Thomas!
Thomas: What? I didn't break it!
Julian: Huh, that's weird. How'd you even know it was broken?
Thomas: Because it's sitting right in front of us, and it's broken! And Alison's looking at all of us like we've done something wrong!
Julian: Suspicious.
Thomas: No it's not!
Mary: If it matters, probably not, but the Captain was the last one to use it...
The Captain: Liar! I don't even drink the stuff.
Mary: Oh really? Then what was you doing by the coffee cart earlier?
The Captain: I appreciate the smell of coffee before my morning run. Everyone knows that, Mary!
Pat: Okay, everyone, let's not fight. I broke it. Let Julian pay for it, Alison.
Alison: No! Who broke it?
Thomas: Well... Humphrey's been awfully quiet.
Humphrey: REALLY?
[Everyone starts arguing.]
Alison, turning to the camera: I broke it. I burnt my hand, so I punched it. I predict that in ten minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with imaginary warpaint on their faces and a pig head on a stick. Those idiots can't even physically touch things!

Seeing Fanny looking after Mia (checking up on her when she's asleep and calling Julian to pull up the blanket, immediately jumping up to go to her when she's crying) makes me wonder ...
a) if she doesn't talk about her own children because she loved them so much it hurts her to talk about them or
b) if she's trying to make up for lost time with Mia because she couldn't love and care for her children like she wanted to because of the way her marriage (and thus the children) came about.
Maybe it's a little bit of both - that she loved them very fiercely but could never really show because by the time they were born, Fanny had become Lady Button already and closed off her heart to the world.
