To: Commander Chakotay
From: Gretchen Janeway
Dear Chakotay,
How I wish I were meeting you face to face, but the Pathfinder Project will have to do for now. Well, I’m writing to you because I want to get to know you. You are a tremendous part of my daughter’s life, so can you blame me? I’d love it if you wrote back when you get a chance.
Tell me a little about yourself: your family, your childhood, your interests, whatever you would like to share with me. Kathryn has written to me about you of course, about your decision to leave Starfleet and join the Maquis and then about your loyalty to her and your willingness to once more wear the uniform for the sake of both your crews. You sound like a very principled young man and I look forward to getting to know you better.
I’m so happy to know that you and Kathryn have moved beyond friendship. I worry about my daughter constantly—not just for her physical safety, but for her emotional well-being. The fact that she’s allowed herself to love you tells me that she is managing to keep her head above water. I hope that you’ll both continue to find peace and joy with each other.
You have such a long journey ahead of you, but I believe my daughter will bring her ship home. She’s always been such a stubborn little thing, ever since she was a baby. You wouldn’t think a baby could be stubborn, but Kathryn was. She’s always had this way of lifting her chin and plunging ahead, despite skinned knees or bruises. I remind myself of that when I can’t sleep at night. She’s so stubborn. Of course she’ll make it home, even if she has to get out and push.
Well, I look forward to hearing from you, Chakotay, and I want you to know that you will always be welcome in my home.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Janeway

@sevenofninetertiaryadjunctofunim
From: Phoebe Janeway
Hi Seven,
I would like to thank you for that very detailed report of Commander Chakotay. For the first time my life, I Phoebe Janeway, am speechless!
I had to read it several times to take it all in. I now have questions, lots and lots of questions. I perhaps should ask my sister to be fair, but I am concerned about some of the things you mentioned.
When you said they argue a lot and he killed residents of the Delta Quadrant? What???
I can’t imagine Katie being attracted to a man like that. You say he’s violent with his former crew. I honestly am really worried. I of course love the fact he makes her happy but I’ve had relationships with people who have tempers and they never end well. Are you sure? No of course you are. You have told me this for a reason. You care about Kathryn. I wish I was there. I consider myself a fantastic judge of character, but being this far away, I need you Seven to be my eyes and ears. Will you do this? Kathryn has been through so much and I really thought she had found the one this time. I haven’t mentioned your letter to my mom. She’d only worry. Thank you Seven, your are a true and loyal friend to Kathryn. She’s lucky to have you.
So tell me how it’s going with Susan? I met someone myself last week. She’s a Starfleet Officer and we had the most amazing weekend together. I always swore I’d never fall for a SF Officer because, well reasons, but Nina is something else.
I really enjoy writing to you. Seven you truly are a breath of fresh air.
Look forward to hearing from you and if that XO of my sister’s hurts her, you have my permission to assimilate his ass!
Love Phoebe

Earth to @susan-nicoletti-voyager
Hello honey, I`m so happy to hear you are safe! I hope you don't mind me giving the first contact to the athletic association president. It`s a charming woman, you would like her. I`m sure you will meet once you are back here. Because you know that you will have to run the real Dresden marathon once you are back, right? Laura is already training, she wants to join the Dresden run as well, she will do 10km this year.
What about us? Laura is now in Rab with her Seb. Yes, they are still together and in love. What about you and Seven?
Your dad and me were in Vysoke Tatry and it was great, we missed you, of course we did. I know how you like hiking and I`m not sure you can visit a planet with such a nice nature... oh, my, now I need a second...
Tumblr media
Anyway, we will be watching the Dresden marathon, your dad and Laura are even invited to the reception and they will do some commenting for the TV, I will record it all for you and send it to you in November.
I love you, honey, I miss you very much and I look forward to see you next month in TV!   You all are already winners, Susan, please stay safe.
Kiss, mum

@susan-nicoletti-voyager
Dear Ms. Nicoletti,
Thank you again for your interest in our sport event.
I was impressed with the number of runners on Voyager and I am pleased to announce that the registration is now officially confirmed. Unfortunately I am afraid I must inform you that our association cannot accept any technological enhancement of runners. Please share my sincere apologies to your Borg crew mates, they can participate and are eligible for race packets and participation medals, but their time cannot be accepted as official.
I hope this inconvenience will not impact your and their motivation and running experience.
Please let me know if I can provide you with any other information. Again, thanks so much for your interest and cooperation. It is a pleasure.
Best regards,
Manon Kale President of Earth athletic association

Datastream Message
To: Lyssa Campbell
From Marah Campbell c/o Frederick Campbell
Lyssa,
Fred loved your present. I didn’t realize you had kept up with your watercolors. I thought you might want to see how it looks with the frame your Aunt Melissa and I picked for it.
Tumblr media
I’ve forgotten how lovely it is here. I really should visit more often.  I’ve wandered down to the beach each morning and I swear if I keep eating your brother’s cooking I will need a whole new wardrobe when I get home. He’s so happy here Lyssa - even with the added work of the fete he just glows.  And to think he was so lost just a few years ago.
I read your message from earlier today. Were you really in a lot of danger from this temporal phenomena thing?
Your Aunt Melissa is settling in well. We transplanted one of my rose bushes last week. I hope it takes.  She brought a cutting or two from her old house and they’re rooting well.
Do send along another picture of yourself.  Marcel is helping me get this back and forth communication set up under my own name so we can chat like this again when I’m home.
Love and kisses Mum

Letter to Mrs. Lauren Dalby
@sevenofninetertiaryadjunctofunim, can you please put this in the data stream messages? Thank you!
@pathfinderproject
Cc:@rebelwithoutacausedalby
Hello Mrs. Dalby,
I’m sorry I couldn’t write sooner. A lot of things have happened since our last transmission. We were trapped in a temporal phenomenon that created bubbles across the ship, and Ken and I were trapped together with Commander Chakotay, Mike Ayala, and a Bajoran friend of mine named Tal Celes. At this point, the final stage of my Elogium happened, and Ken and I made the decision to attempt to have children. I had my concerns - Ken told you about them, I’m sure - but I knew at that very moment that the day I started a family with Ken would be one of the happiest of my life. Now, I find that that day will be sooner than I thought it would be.
When the Doctor gave me the results of my medical examination, I discovered that Ken and I will be the parents of three beautiful children. Three! I’m sure that one is a handful, but three will be a monumental undertaking. But of course, every struggle will be worth seeing them grow and live wonderful lives. Recently, Ken and I found out the genders of our children: two girls and a boy. I’m happy to say that you are the first to know! It’s Ocampan tradition to name children before they are born, and we came to a decision surprisingly quickly. Our son will be named Benaren Scott: Benaren after my father, and Scott after a person who was very important to Ken growing up (I’m sure you know who). The name of our first daughter will be Lily Kathryn, and the second name will be Lauren Linnis. I hope that you don’t mind.
I so wish that one day, you will get to meet your grandchildren. I know that my parents never will, but I’m thankful they will have a wonderful grandmother who will inspire and teach them. And even a grandfather as well. Ken is (slowly) coming to terms with the idea of his father returning to his life. Perhaps, our children will help bring the two of them together.
Hope all is well in the Alpha Quadrant. Please send my regards to Ayala’s family - I wish his son a smooth recovery from his injury.
With love,
Kes

Datastream Communication
To: Lyssa Campbell
From: Frederick Campbell
Well Lyssa, the fete is in less than a week and Mom’s here for her visit.  Marcel had a “quiet word” with her shortly after she arrived and I think you can expect to be able to message Mom next month instead of sending her letters.  Sadly, my easdropping skills are not what they used to be.  I only caught “Honestly Marah, requesting that Starfleet set you send messages and a picture or two from your daughter during the data stream each month is not the same as condoning their actions en mass” before the hairs on the back of my neck prickled and a ran for it.
Last night I finished the last of the preserves, fillings and jams that I’ll need for my puff pastry flowers. I must have been thinking of you when I agreed to do a dark chocolate lilly pad as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mom will be up soon and I’ll get her to send you a message. I’ve got to run and open the shop before Nana Jenkins starts pounding on the door.
I never thought I’d say this, but it’s nice to be the first one up in the morning.  I’ve really come to enjoy the quiet time.  I’ll write again in the evening and see if I can get a good shot of the set up for the fete in the square to send you.

From: Adm. Owen and Mrs. Julia Paris
Previous Transmissions
B’Elanna, thank you for sharing your vows with us and also painting such a beautiful picture of the ceremony. It brought tears to my eyes. I think... well. I think it’s just hit me. My baby boy is all grown up now, isn’t he? About to start a family of his own? It brings light to this otherwise dark time. There are no more words for me to write to impart just how hopeful I am for your future.
Tom, dear, please tell me you can sneak another letter or two through before this blasted window closes again?
Love, Mom

@susan-nicoletti-voyager
My dear Susie, Finally it's my turn and I'm so glad to hear all is well with you and the crew. Your mother told you about the running and Laura about her old Seb (but I admit he is alright, only a little too old for her), but nobody mentioned the big event we were invited to! Owen Paris invited us to the wedding party of his son and your chief. It was comforting to see again other Voyager families and this time at so joyful occasion. We shared our stories and letters from delta and were having nice chat about Starfleet strategy to help you home. Something was classified, but suffice to say we are working here to improve the speed as number one priority. When I say we I mean several teams. Starfleet is busy with the war, but we keep fighting for you. And Laura is doing really good in HQ, she hasn't told you, but she hopes to join the team of Lieutenant Reginald Barclay and it looks promising. Knowing certain Voyager relatives surely helps.
I understood all went well with your last research, that's nice to know. What else are you working on? Or shall I understand you spend all  your time with Seven? I forced Laura to sent me your letter, sorry, I guess it was her eyes only, but too late.
Tell hi to Seven from us and please be safe. Dad.

Oh my goodness! What an ordeal! And here we were celebrating while you were stuck in airponics? At least Tom had some company, I suppose, but to be alone all that time? Were either of you in danger? No… I don’t want to know. You’re okay now, that’s all that matters.
Now, dear, what are you sorry for? I can’t blame you for wanting to be married immediately upon seeing each other again. Why, since Tom first told us of his intent to marry you in April, it’s almost as if the fates-that-be have conspired to keep that very thing from happening.
Don’t tell me you’re apologizing for not getting married in some stuffy office in your dress uniforms. Your ceremony was legal and binding (I did check, the data-log containing your new marital status has transferred successfully from Voyager to public record) and more importantly, it meant something to you both. What a wonderful memory to rise from the ashes of the disappointment of the days before. And I know, my husband can be a bit of a hard-sell on things that don’t conform within the generally accepted walls of formality, but you don’t worry about him or his rigidly antiquated ideals one bit.
B’Elanna, I also understand your not wanting to take the Paris family name. I thought long and hard myself on that choice. Did Tom tell you his grandmother kept hers? Victoria Santos, may she rest in peace. Remarkable woman. And don’t you dare call her Mrs. Paris either, oh no. I made that mistake only once. She’d have liked you quite a bit, I believe. Owen quirked a bit of a smile in her honor when I told him you’d done the same as his dear mother.
That said, my mother-in-law did understand the importance of keeping the Paris name alive. Which is why Owen carries it, despite the fact that she remained ‘Santos’. And though we will respect anything you decide with regards to possible future descendants, we’d ask you to consider keeping that rich history alive as well. We’ve traced Paris’s back over 400 years, would be a bit of a shame to lose that link. Assuming you want children, of course.
I’m out of room again. Drat. Tell me more about your ceremony? And your honeymoon if you had one. Here’s a picture of us as our party was winding down, you can see by Owen’s smile he’s already had more than a few trips to the champagne fountain.

Son and Daughter,
Your mother has been in bed for a few hours and I’m finishing some work at my desk, so you get me this time. I have instructions from my wife to ask questions in this letter, and I will do my best to follow her orders.
I know Julia already said it, but congratulations to both of you. We were very pleased to hear that you’ve successfully married each other, despite there being some difficulties. I assume you found a Delta Quadrant anomaly to throw a wrench in your original nuptials? No matter, as long as the deed got done. I’d imagine Kathryn did a fine job conducting it. I’m proud that my son is the 12th member of our Paris family line to be married while in Starfleet.
We had quite the extravaganza here in your honor. I’ve been told to send a picture taken from inside the tent.
Tumblr media
Your mother researched Klingon weddings and decided to decorate with red. Based on the picture you sent of the beautiful bride in her red dress, Julia chose well. We had several hundred guests, I believe my lovely wife invited half the quadrant to our back yard. I’ll admit it was good to meet the families of some of the people you are serving with. Did the entire Voyager crew attend your reception?
For my last words, I’d like to speak only to Tom. Son, now that you’re married, I hope you remember the advice I gave you several months ago and honor your wife like you promised in your vows.
We love you and expect more details,  -Dad and Mom

To: Ens. Tricia Jenkins
From: Ens. Max Jenkins
Hey Sis,
Last time you got Dad and not me, this time around... Well, ta-da! I’m back from the edges of the DMZ. Super-fun place, I’ll take you around when your ass gets back here.
Dad’s off on some covert thing or another with Adm. Ross. He should be in com-range again soon, but he gave me a letter to send you just in case he’s too late. It’ll come through next. And no, I didn’t read it. Honest.
Alright. So, this is where I have to ask… are you okay? And I want the truth, TJ. Your last letter was so short, you worried Dad for sure. What’s this about anxiety issues creeping back again? Are you managing? I know you said years ago that Voyager wasn’t staffed with a counselor, I’m concerned you’re getting the help you need. Does Farley know what’s going on and is she supporting you? Is there anything I can do from here? Put you back in contact with Marjorie maybe?
I wish I could be there for you now, we could sit in that cornfield together again. Just hangout like we did when I was on leave and you were stationed on Earth. Simpler times, am I right? And I’m not gonna compete with whatever you’re going through, but this war, it’s rough. Every week another list of names comes through. I’m not entirely sure anymore that we’re gonna win it.
Anyway. Dad and I were invited to some kinda swanky affair at Admiral Paris’s house. Obviously, we had to miss which was a bummer. I guess some of your mates got hitched? Did you get to party at least?
Talk to you soon. Hang in there.
-Max
Ps. The guys were goofing around while we were fixing a coolant leak the other day. We were supposed to be taking pictures of the repairs, but might have come away with a few headshots, you know, in case we decide to go into acting after the war.

B’Elanna dear it’s so good to hear from you! And Tom, good morning! Congratulations!!
Oh, Owen and I are just over the moon for you both! We’ve been waiting with bated breath for a month to hear that everything worked out and you were actually wed, that we officially have a new daughter!
And now I can share with you that we had a modestly-sized celebration in your honor on the 26th. (Owen says it was large, but then what does he know about parties. If he can’t find a chair to sit in, he grumbles about having too many people.) It was a lovely time, all the family came, plus the usual smattering of ‘Fleeters (though this war has certainly taken many of them from Earth, we rounded up a good number). Even a few of the Voyager crew’s families were able to attend: Lt. Carey’s wife and children, Gretchen Janeway, Lt. Kim’s parents... oh, the list goes on. About 35 families in all were represented. Perhaps some of them will write your crewmates.
We put up a tent in the back, hired a band, and toasted the two of you right good. Owen insisted on telling some of the best Tom stories we’ve got, sorry son. Professor L’Evess from the Klingon studies department gave a lovely speech about what marriage means and how it came to be in the Klingon culture. Just fascinating, B’Elanna. Your people have such a rich history.
Oh dear, I’m out of space to write. Please, tell me all about your wedding, the reception, and did you get to go on a honeymoon?
Tumblr media
To: Lt. Tom Paris and Lt. B’Elanna Torres
From: Adm. Owen and Mrs. Julia Paris
Dear Tom and B’Elanna,
We hope this letter finds you well. Your father and I are just fine. Dad’s in his office, I’m out on the porch and it’s a beautiful morning. I’m expecting a few visitors later today, Moira and a few of your cousins will be dropping by for an early dinner then we’re going to a gallery opening in town.
Anything new there to report? We hope everything went as planned with the wedding but are, of course, still awaiting the news that I should have addressed this letter to Mr. and Mrs. Paris.
Write us soon, dears. Love,  Mom and Dad
