I do also love the serve lack of fucks Blind!Clarke gives. Like yes, a lot of it is a defense mechanism that she uses to cover her weariness about this situation, but also she just... she is so far beyond out of fucks to give anymore. She knows she's probably gonna die here. Honestly, the fact that she didn't die immediately upon landing (or even actually making it to the damn island) is shocking, so at this point everything that happens after is either a blessing or, more likely, a cruel joke of her existence.

But then, there's Medusa.

In all her... not-very-glorious, glory. This supposed monster and terrible beast who lays waste to all who come before her. Except she seems kinda not much more than just... some chick 🤨 Like the terrible and great ~Medusa~ is, by Clarke's best observations, uhhhh just some lady. One who smells distinctly like fresh flowers and wild honey, who gets moody in the mornings and a bit snappy when she's ready to go to bed. Who always makes these cute high pitched sounds at the end of her yawns and sometimes, sometimes, even little yummy noises when she eats. She's temperamental, sure. Will bite Clarke's head off at the drop of a hat most days. But like,,, in a way that reminds Clarke vaguely of someone thiiiis 🤏 close to stomping their feet.

How in Zeus's name is she supposed to be scared of this chick???

Medusa is someone to be feared, but Medi is just... Medi. She's just as surpised as anybody 😳

Something I'm really obsessed with is Marisha's physical acting as Laudna. We've seen it before-- the Yu interaction where she put all of her hair in front of her face, for instance. But the way she was crouched on the chair giving the doll to Ashton! The way she was just some kind of little creature, cocked head and weird squat, trying her best to still be human! Okay so I finally got around to watching episode 77 in full and I’m pretty sure my stance is going to remain the same.

I’ve been advocating for a long time that Ashton was the right holder for the shard whether or not it’s the right thing to do. I do think a lot of mistakes were made on everyone’s part like idk doing ZERO research into the shards before taking the word of some random tree that basically allowed and knew Effterin would make a cult for the first one and they’d all die.

I think the group of PCs made a lot of mistakes of assuming it was meant for Fearne and pushing it on her and that needs to be addressed as much as everything else.

Ashton straight up told the tree “I want power.” So I’m not sure why not a single one of them never really thought about Ashton’s view during all this. He literally didn’t stop to wait around and dived into a pool of lava to get it.

Ashton feels like their acting out of desperation to preserve what little they have left. Ashton has gone to the extremes before. Ashton was already an unprecedented creature and I feel like that has to be looked at as well.

After watching the clock tower scene and the ascending steps moment, I do think Ashton was sort of putting Fearne into a corner, whether or not they meant to use guilt trip, that’s kind of what happened with “you promised” and “don’t you dare” to make sure she didn’t alert the others. Ashton telling Fearne she’s the one they trust the most is interesting because you look back on the campaign and I feel like they’ve barely interacted one on one other than flirty interactions to really have that layer of trust Ashton was insinuating. Idk, that whole conversation felt odd from Ashton.

I think people claiming they only survived because of Deanna and the Healers are right but not for the reason they think they are. On a mechanical “this is a story” view, yes. Ashton survived from good rolls and magic items and spell slots. From a “this is the life we live” view Ashton survived from FCG using DIVINE magic to heal, from Fearne a Druid using NATURE magic to heal, from Deanna who was resurrected by the Dawnfather and had to live her life and get the ring and her entanglement and history with Chetney. The first episode of this campaign is called “The Draw of Destiny” and quite frankly, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, but it’s really interesting how if you look at this campaign you can really argue the main gods have been the Changebringer which is all about making your path and the concept of chance, along with the Matron who is all about death and fate.

Ashton going to the Matron’s temple the episode before looks a whole lot different now. Ashton telling the guys he agrees with Orym about having a simple selfish moment to themselves before chaos ensues feels a lot different with them talking to Fearne the following scenes after.

Ashton did not want to be stopped. Ashton did not want to be interrupted. Fearne did not want the shard. Ashton seemed worried about Fearne being peer pressured into taking it and so they made a choice for both of them and the entire group to save time from a debate that would’ve lead to nothing like the debate over the gods. If a conversation was held, it would’ve probably been turned into a fight and picking sides and I’m not sure meta opinions would’ve helped. Ultimately I think a lot more people of the group would’ve gotten hurt that way.

The only one who really believed this was destiny and fate was FCG, they say as much. Fearne was overcome with emotions. Laudna and Imogen seemed like they completely gave up at the half way point. What’s interesting is that Laudna’s Silvery Barbs may of been able to reroll that one failed save but she didn’t ever consider it. She grabbed Imogen and Chetney and rolled out. Orym couldn’t help and wanted to stay but dwindled out. When all was said and done, Fearne kicked them in the head and turned to leave. FCG was the only one that stayed when all of it was over and settled.

I most certainly think with knowing about what happened to the Hishari with the earth spark that Ashton did put a LOT of people in danger and that should not be overlooked, even with Allura there to help minimize the damage to Whitestone. I also think Ashton’s been looking at a lot of things with how they can best absorb the burden, as they typically do in combat (which no one has confronted them about), and since having been struck down so easily by Otohan it seems like they want to be able to be depended on by the others to stay up longer—to be able to take the damage so they don’t have to. Ashton lost the nobodies and I think they blame themselves for not being able to survive the fall by walking away but by having to be dragged and pieced back together by Milo and pay a debt so the other nobodies could leave. Ashton doesn’t want to feel like a burden to people, so they try to carry as much of the weight themselves and silently suffer. They genuinely believe no one will miss them because they believe they’ve been nothing but a burden and hinderance to people.

I hope this is going to make all of the Hells rethink their relations with each other and what they truly mean to each other and really start working on establishing a line of open communication FCG asked them for like 40 episodes ago and to start thinking about why they are doing the things they’re doing like Orym wanted to prior to storming the Seat of Disdain. They also really need to take a lot at what everyone brings to the table so no one is going savior complex and martyrdom like Laudna considering Delilah’s deal of power gain, which is ultimately a LOT WORSE than the fire spark.

There’s been a lot of dominos that had to fall in order to get to this point and it’s not all Ashton’s fault, and they need to realize that as a group in order to stay a group. Claiming accountability and responsibility and digging into deeper layers is what I’ve wanted this group to do since they burned the Verdict and killed the group circling Dusk/Yu but it’s just never happened, and now they may finally start looking inwards to see how their individual actions have much greater consequences than just to themselves.

If they have those hard, tough, blunt conversations and lay it all out on the table and just fucking think for a moment they might actually be able to go to the moon now in all seriousness about the future of Exandria and why they are doing this and what their goals are.
