Bagaimana Baiknya

Suatu hari, disaat langit sedang kelabu-kelabunya, hatiku pun demikian. Adik bimbinganku mengirimkan sebuah pesan pendek melalui whatsapp. Aku sedang berbaring di tempat tidur, memandangi jendela, memerhatikan pohon yang bergerak-gerak ditiup angin, menantu hujan.

“Kak, mau nanya dong. Apa aja sih yang harus diperjuangkan oleh seorang laki-laki terhadap perempuan yang disukainya. Biar mendapatkan sinyal positif, biar bisa meyakinkannya (dan keluarganya), biar bisa mencuri hatinya. Laki-laki itu harus bagaimana?” tanyanya.

Aku membacanya, malas. Menimang-nimang kembali handphoneku, lalu melemparkannya ke tumpukan baju. Aku memilih untuk menidurkan diri,

Lepas tengah malam. Aku masih berkutat dengan buku, dengan pikiranku, dengan kegelisahanku. Aku memungut kembali handphone yang sedari tadi aku buka. Memandang kembali pertanyaan dari adik kelasku yang tak kunjung ku balas.

“Dengan beribadah dengan baik, bekerja dengan tekun, fokus, berbuat baik pada banyak orang, rutin mengkaji ilmu, ikut kegiatan yang bermanfaat, membantu orang lain, dan terakhir, berbakti kepada kedua orang tua.” jawabku.

Aku tahu, aku sedang menasihati diriku sendiri.

استغفار

If you feel great sadness in your heart but do not know why, I want you to remember this; the heart remembers.

Sins destroy the heart the same way poison destroys the body, and oh how often do we forget our sins? But the heart does not. It feels the constriction of sins, causing the once fertile soil within the heart, with the seeds of eeman, happiness and tranquility suddenly meeting an untimely end, with no seed able to sprout to take their place.

These sins hardened the soil in your heart until it became like rock, and what plant could ever sprout from a rock?

But despite this, the heart knows that after the darkest nights come the brightest days. Yes, you remember the Mercy of God. So with tears flowing down your face as you ask for forgiveness, you suddenly feel lighter, more happy; for indeed God forgives all sins and His Mercy embraces all things.

And to your surprise, the once blossoming garden within your heart has turned into a small forest because such is His Mercy, it raises one in rank to the point that it sometimes raises them even higher than before they fell at all.

So repent. Allow your heart to blossom again.
