A quick self critique to summarize my overall performance and final outcome for this project I would say that I am really proud with the artefact that I have created I think my final artefact perfectly captures the context of Wabi - Sabi and had the right intentions for I was trying to achieve. The photography content captured the philosophy and context of the project well and the collage added to it. I am really happy with the printing and colors too. Overall, I am really happy with my final outcome and couldn’t be more proud to hand it in.
My final publication bound. I added a clear sheet on the front and back of the publication to protect the cover pages and look neater. I am really happy with the final outcome and will now photograph the publication at a professional standard for the hand in.
As I was sorting out my pages I noticed that I really liked the black card border for the cover, middle spreads and back cover. I thought that his made the publication stand out a bit and contrasts well with the bold blue ink. I also made sure that there was a day to night transition within the photography - Just to add a bit more visual pleasure to the artifact.
Since the newsprint is such a delicate stock, the riso left creases in the pages so I had to switch to a thicker paper stock that gave of the same effect as newsprint. The other error was he pe just being a bit blurry from the page not being placed perfectly in the riso.
The prototype session went really well. The feedback I got given was really relevant and would make my project a lot stronger. The feedback I got given was;
- Try weave the element of Auckland City more knowable in the project beyond Wabi - Sabi (Whether its a poem or type that demonstrates this)
- Found material is good.
- Collage is good.
- Riso print on thicker newsprint stock.
- Use black cardboard to section the publication and make more interesting.
Going into the final prototype session with George tomorrow I will be showing the collage that I have already made. Based on the feedback I will make necessary changes to the imagery as well as applying these to the final 4 collage pieces that I still need to make.
