For many millennials, growing up in the '90s and '00s meant one show typically dominated your after-school routine: "Total Request Live." Affectionately called "TRL," the show aired on MTV for 10 years, from 1998 to 2008, and featured a roster of VJs (video jockeys) who counted down the top 10 music videos of the day. Few people understand the cultural impact of "TRL" better than La La Anthony.
In the early 2000s, Anthony was getting her big break as a "TRL" host. Interviewing superstars back then undoubtedly prepared her for some of the roles she's stepped into recently, like hosting Vogue's Met Gala red carpet live stream in May.
For fashion's most celebrated occasion, Anthony opted for an open-shoulder, burgundy dress by her friend LaQuan Smith. "I wanted to support him, [and] I wanted to support a Black designer," Anthony tells POPSUGAR. "We just played around with the Gilded Glamour theme. We were really happy with how everything turned out. It was a great collaboration and definitely a look I'll remember forever."
She paired the dramatic silk gown with a striking Laurel Dewitt headpiece, slightly tilted toward one side. On the accessory front, she chose diamonds by David Yurman, including teardrop diamond earrings and bracelets. Christian Louboutin heels were the finishing touch. "Bringing in the hat made it feel like Gilded Glamour," Anthony says. "There were Swarovski crystals all throughout the outfit, which gave it that extra pop of glamour. We hit [the theme] in a couple different departments; I love the rich ruby color. It put me in that Gilded Glamour mindset."
As an ambassador for PrettyLittleThing, the 39-year-old actress, author, producer, and entrepreneur is looking to channel some of those lavish design flourishes into her latest edit for the ecommerce giant. With 20 looks total, Anthony's curation — which she describes as "edgy and bold" — features pieces that are easy to mix and match depending on your summer style.
"There are prints and bright colors that can be taken from day to night," she says. "I always feel like with outfits, you want to be able to get so many uses out of them."
Anthony is especially fond of the coral matching set in her new PLT edit that includes a bandeau top and wide-leg pants, both of which are hallmarks of 2000s fashion. "A lot of the dresses are really cool, too," she adds. "They have cutouts in all the right places to give you that sexy, edgy vibe."
With 2000s fashion trends top of mind, Anthony walked POPSUGAR through the nostalgic styles she wore during her "TRL" days that she's likely to re-create today.

What is the Role of an Endocrinologist?
Endocrinologist thyroid specialist specializes in the endocrine system. The endocrine system is made up of glands that release hormones and chemicals that control certain functions in the body. Hormones regulate metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, and other important body processes. Some examples of hormones include thyroid hormone insulin, growth hormone, melatonin, and sex hormones such as estrogen or testosterone.
Hormones are produced by specific organs, such as the pituitary gland at the base of your brain, which releases thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). When TSH levels rise above normal, you have hyperthyroidism -too much thyroid hormone. Conversely, low levels imply hypothyroidism -insufficient production.
Endocrinologists can manage this condition along with diabetes mellitus type 1 & 2, which affect millions worldwide. This happens due to genetic predisposition or lifestyle factors such as obesity or lack of exercise, leading to type 2 diabetes mellitus, which may lead to blindness if untreated over time.
Treats metabolic disorders
Endocrinology also deals with metabolic disorders like osteoporosis or metabolic syndrome, where there is excess weight around the waistline due to excessive food intake combined with insufficient physical activity leading to high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure, etcetera.
Restores fertility
In addition to its use for treating hormone disorders, endocrinology has been very successful in the field of fertility treatments. Some patients need to restore their fertility by restoring their hormonal balance. For example, some men may have reduced fertility because they produce too little testosterone. These men can restore their fertility without negative side effects through carefully regulated hormone replacement therapy.
The pituitary gland and adrenal glands are also areas of concern
Endocrinologists can also manage pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid cancers. For example, they treat patients with pituitary gland disorders, such as a pituitary tumor or prolactinoma. This tumor of the pituitary gland produces large amounts of prolactin. They also treat primary hyperparathyroidism, which is increased production of parathyroid hormone by one or more parathyroid glands and hypothyroidism. The latter means reduced secretion of triiodothyronine and thyroxine by the thyroid gland.
Some endocrinologists specialize in medical subspecialties like diabetes and obesity or metabolic syndrome.
Endocrinologists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions affecting the hormones in your body. That means they can help you manage symptoms like fatigue, depression, weight gain, loss of sex drive, and much more.
Finally, endocrinology focuses on the human endocrine system, which is the system in charge of secreting hormones into the bloodstream. While many people mistakenly believe that hormones are responsible only for reproductive functions, they are essential to almost every process in our bodies.

"Stranger Things" season four delivers a new wave of supernatural mayhem, questionable haircuts, and, of course, fashion inspiration. With the latest episodes partially set in the fictional town of Lenora Hills, CA, there's a noticeable shift in the cast's wardrobe to channel the laidback California aesthetic of the '80s. Think: patterned button downs, graphic tees, and pastel colorways galore. As it turns out, not every outfit worn on screen was culled from a vintage store; some were made specifically for the show in partnership with Quiksilver, and fans can shop the exact pieces online right now.
The Netflix show's costume designer, Amy Parris, worked with Quiksilver over the span of three years to create a collection of clothes inspired by '80s surf culture, digging into the brand's archives to revive designs from the time period. These re-created styles pop up on main characters and extras throughout season four, and include Nancy Wheeler's (Natalia Dyer) denim jacket, Max Mayfield's (Sadie Sink) blue and yellow zip-up, and much of Argyle's (Eduardo Franco) wardrobe. Parris and Quiksilver also produced additional apparel and accessories, so fans can rep Surfer Boy Pizza, the Hellfire Club, Lenora Hills, and the Upside Down.
"Quiksilver was an integral part of California fashion in the 1980s," Parris told Gear Patrol. "['Stranger Things'] is so true to the period that it only made sense to infuse Quiksilver archive pieces through the show this season. Together, Quiksilver and I worked meticulously to make sure the fit, fabric, and feel of each garment was both true to the period and akin to the characters' closets."
The "Stranger Things" x Quiksilver collaboration includes T-shirts, shorts, jackets, sunglasses, hats, bags, and even swimsuits, with prices ranging from $25 to $160. Read ahead to shop several outfits worn by characters in season four, along with our favorite picks from the nostalgic collection.
