Tumblr media
Ever noticed how puzzling it is to choose the right one from the countless rods and reels available in the store? I know some of us just can’t choose when we are exposed to umpteen types of equipment. But do you know that this is not the only reason for your confusion?
So what is the reason behind it? Well, it is that you don’t know what you need. At first, you need to find out your need and preference for fishing style and then you will be able to choose the right one for you.
So here I am going to highlight some facts which will help you know your preference and it will help you to choose the right rod and reel for you.
How to choose a fishing rod?
While choosing a fishing rod you must keep four things in mind and that is length, weight, action, and material. These four things are the main reason for varying fishing rods. When you choose a fishing rod, think carefully these four things match your preference and fishing style. So how will you choose while keeping these four things in mind?
Length:
Length is what decides where you are going to fish. Fishing rods length starts from 4 feet to 14 feet. If you want to cast shorter distances and want to use lightweight lures, shorter rods will be better for you but if you want to cast otherwise straight from the shoreline, choose the longer ones.
Weight:
Rods' weight determines how powerful the rod is and how much weight it can carry. So think before choosing a rod, how big you want to catch?
Action:
While choosing a rod, you will notice rods are of various actions starting from ultra-light to heavy. This action decides how much it can bend carrying the weight. Heavier action bends less and its backbone is stiff and thus it is for large fishes. The lighter the action the more it bends and thus it is for smaller fishes.
Material:
Rods are usually made of graphite or fiberglass. Graphite rods are expensive and sensitive compared to fiberglass rods. But a combination of both materials is an ideal choice for any fisherman because it can be used in various locations and for various kinds of fishes.
How to choose fishing reels?
There are two kinds of fishing reels- spinning reel and casting reel. These two types are used for different purposes. If you are a beginner, you should go for spinning reels as they let more success than casting reels and they are also less likely to tangle.  But if you like to use heavier lures you should go for casting reels.
Conclusion:
Choosing a fishing rod depends on your preference and the comfort of your fishing styles, but even if you carefully choose according to your need you can end up getting the faulty products. So not only think about your need and check the whole item carefully before purchasing it.
