Daenery’s Targaryen may not be one of my favorite Characters, but I do believe she’s a very complex character whose had a wide story arch that’s gone through ups and downs. But she’s also not the only GOT female character thats gone through what she’s gone through. If you think about it she and Sansa have had a similar story that could probably be paralleled exactly. And its a very cool way that both D&D as well as G.R.R.M have written these two very different strong women and how they’ve both grown from there experiences and how they handle it. That being said I definitely don’t think that Daenery’s will be ending this show a hero. And if G.R.R.M  and D&D want to go out with a bang. I think they can create one of the greatest and most interesting characters in fantasy writing if they take her from the one dimensional character she is currently.

Sansa vs. Daenerys
I’ve heard some people think that Sansa and Daenerys being at odds would be a bad thing.  I’m not sure why.  They aren’t involved in a petty catfight like the Real Housewives.  They aren’t fighting over a man as I don’t think that shipping plays a big part of Season 8.  (Jon is such a non-factor on the show that it isn’t even funny.)  Their families are historic enemies and both have different aims.  Sansa wants the North to be independent and under Stark rule.  Dany wants it to subjugated and under her rule.  That isn’t a bitch fight over a man.  That is different political philosophies.
In fact, it is actually quite sexist to tell Sansa to shut up and submit to Daenerys and braid her hair like a good servant.  She is just fighting for her family.  I hope that her siblings join her in doing so rather than acting like Dany’s dutiful servants.  I hope that Jon gains his backbone and joins in.  The Targaryens should never again rule the North.

The main difference between Alys and Sansa is that Alys was not raped in her home. She didn’t have to give it up once already while being surrounded by strangers, then barely escape with her life. Then convince jon and commission an Army to take it back- (Which if you think about is a slight parallel to her and Daenery’s.) Then after fighting and fighting to get it back have to almost immediately give it to Daenery’s. It’d be like Dani finally getting the Iron throne then having to give it away. Aly’s Family betrayed the Starks which they had sworn fealty to for centuries (so I get both Sansa and jon’s answers to Alys and Ned, The anger and the leniency). so although the prospect of of Alys losing her home and Sansa having to give hers up is mildly similar they are vastly different circumstances.
As many people have pointed out, do any of these folks hating on Dany realize that Westeros is a feudal society. And feudalism underpins everything that happens there?
How Sansa was feeling having to acknowledge Dany as Queen is how Alys Karstark would have felt having to bend the knee to the Starks. If Alys and Ned Umber had not bend the knee, they would have lost their ancestral lands and homes and these given away to another lord.
Was anyone weeping over Alys Karstark having to bend the knee to the Starks under threat of losing her home?
No? Then why the rage about WF and Starks bending the knee to Dany?
Think about poor Alys Karstark. Lost her grandfather in Robb’s war down south. Her two uncles were killed fighting Jaime Lannister and then Robb executed Rickard. She lost her father in the battle of the bastards. She has pretty much lost most of her family because of the Starks. She must be terrified that Sansa is going to kick her out and give Karstark lands to someone else if her loyalty is doubted.
I mean, look at Sansa being extra salty at Dany in that scene and expressing her displeasure at Dany being there.
Tumblr media
Compare it to scared Alys, nervously moving forward at Jon’s call, swearing her oaths and bending the knee.
Tumblr media
Look at how scared she is!  Do you guys think Sansa would have been happy if Alys Karstark acted displeased towards her? All the folks celebrating and praising Sansa for snarking at Dany, would they have been okay with Alys snarking at Sansa?
These are the double standards in a certain section of the fandom.
