‘ Well next time leave me out of your conversations.’ He grumbles, rolling his eyes. He sighs, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose, this whole thing was giving him a headache. ‘ You’ve made a great big mess with this one Magnus, good job. Fine, I’ll talk to him. But next time you’re on your own and you can clean up your own mess.’

Magnus wants to roll his eyes, but refrains. The last thing he needs is to get into a fistfight with Alex.

“Thanks, tell me how it goes with Jason, I need to know if I can ever show my face to him ever again.” Because seriously, if this issue couldn’t be resolved, the next conversation he had with Jason would be the dictionary definition of uncomfortable.

He’s not happy, not in the slightest. How the hell Magnus managed to give Jason that impression was something he’d never understand. ‘ You– I can’t–….. you’re an idiot Magnus, good gods.’

He sighs, running a hand through his hair. ‘ I still don’t see why you couldn’t just correct him yourself, or why I have to be dragged into this complete and utter mess.’

“You got dragged into this ‘complete and utter mess’ because you are a shapeshifter so that’s how that got worked into the conversation.” Magnus notices Alex’s hands in his hair, he took a second to come up with another response.

“I told you already, he doesn’t believe what I tell him. He thinks it’s excuses because of the, the ah, whole furry thing.”

` nico asked piper what a 'furry' was, and she sent him the script to the entire bee movie. that's the kinda person my girlfriend is, ` he pauses, sighs lovingly. ` what about you, dude. got a special someone, or — ? `

Magnus smiles a little, it was nice seeing Jason happy, nice seeing someone else happy. “I mean, that was a pretty accurate answer.” Magnus thought Piper should probably also send Jason the script of the bee movie, because Magnus didn’t think Jason was clear on what a furry was either.

Jason’s question though, that was hard to answer. An image, a person sprang to mind almost immediately. “I-uh, there’s no one in particular, I mean, there is someone but I think they’re only special to me, I’m not so special to them.” The thought of it hurt a little, just a small part of his mind twisted in agony.

There’s a long pause. Because he has to wrap his head around that for a god moment there. Lips press together into a thin line, inhaling a deep breath. ‘ How. On EARTH did you explanation go SO wrong that he thought that is what it meant ?? Good gods Magnus what is wrong with you ??’

Magnus immediately offers a sheepish smile. “Can you see why this is a very urgent matter now?”

He takes a moment to process everything Alex said. “Also, I didn’t do that bad of a job, at least thirty percent of the problem was Jason’s interpretation of what I said.”

“Anyway it’s kind of important to our reputation to straighten this out before he tells anyone.”

She raises a brow, his apparent anger doing nothing but curling her lips into an amused smirk. ‘ Temper temper, Maggie dear.’ She muses, poking his chest a few times as she speaks, leaning in close, getting right up in his face. ‘ I’m not the one who stood someone up twice, and I’m not the one that insisted you make it up to me.’ She gets closer and closer as she speaks, barely an inch from his face.

But then she pulls away, shrugging. ‘ I was only going to take you up on your offer of making up for it if you came up with something good enough. Which you royally failed at.’

Magnus clenches his jaw. He hated arguing, and he hated that not only did Alex not appear to hate it, but she was good at it too. It was nothing short of infuriating. Every time she steps towards him, he steps back, pulling away from her.

“If you have such a problem with me, then stop talking to me. The door is right there.” He gestures in the direction of said door.

‘ How hard is it to explain what shapeshifting is ?? Jeez, I thought even you would be able to do that.’ He rolls his eyes, then narrow them at Magnus. ‘ I may have been implicated in um what ?? Spit it out already Magnus, gods.’

“I- uh- Jason may have confused shapeshifting with being a- uh, how do I put this.” He knew Alex would probably take this badly. He takes a step back, the more time he has to avoid getting a bowl thrown at him the better.

“He may have confused shapeshifting with being a furry.”

She folds her arms over eye chest, eyes narrowing a little at him. ‘ I do. When people annoy me. And you, sunshine, aren’t that far off.’ She found it neither helpful nor humorous. Her eyes narrow further, then she sighs and shakes her head, throwing her hands up like what am i going to do with you?

‘ Nothing ? You want us to do…. nothing. What exactly IS doing nothing ? Do we sit in silence for a few hours ? Because that sounds terrible.’

Magnus doesn’t know what to do now. He tried being sorry, Alex didn’t care. He tried offering a way to fix the problem, she didn’t care. He offered another way to fix the problem. She still didn’t care.

Was anything he was going to offer going to fix the problem, or was Alex just here to complain and make him feel bad?

“You know what, I don’t know what doing nothing is, I just thought it could be a way to make it up to you for me forgetting!” He was close to anger now. “Either help me help you, or get out!”

He’s already frowning when he hears Magnus say “HUGE favor”. What on earth did he need from him. ‘ You want me to–…. Why do I need to do that ? For one it sounds like a you problem, and also you can just explain what it is to him can’t you ?? You don’t need to see it in action to understand…’

“Well, see, I may have already tried to explain that and made things significantly worse. And it, ah, may be in your best interests to clear things up a bit. You may have been, ah, implicated in um...” He trails off, unsure how to exactly explain what was going on.

“Also, I explained and he didn’t believe me.”
