Although wind and solar energy are growing in popularity, storing that clean energy costs a lot of money. If consumers wanted to keep their green energy in Tesla's Powerwall home battery, for example, they would have to shell out $3,500. That may be why Tesla discontinued sales of its largest Powerwall a couple weeks ago.
Instead of expensive battery storage, utilities are turning to a low-cost alternative: For a just few hundred dollars, your electric water heater can be made to work like a battery, a fraction of the cost of a Tesla Powerwall. Here’s how it works.

Green homes are more popular than ever before, so much so that a building’s sustainability now plays a big part in buying, selling and maintaining the home. The success of this trend was emphasized by a National Home Builders Association survey that identified which home improvement upgrades were a top priority for consumers and home builders alike.

Archeologists have found evidence of surface mining and household usage of coal in China dating back to 3490 BC. During the Middle Ages, small mining operations began to spread throughout Europe to supply forges, smithies, and breweries. When the British were running out of firewood to burn in the 1400’s, the invention of fire bricks made chimneys cheap to build. Thus, the market for coal was created.

Realizing the ambitious commitments of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) will require new ways of meeting human needs previously met by burning fossil fuels. Technological developments will be critical, but so will accelerated adoption of promising low-emission technologies and practices. National commitments will be more achievable if interventions take into account key psychological, social, cultural and organizational factors that influence energy choices, along with factors of an infrastructural, technical and economic nature. Broader engagement of social and behavioural science is needed to identify promising opportunities for reducing fossil fuel consumption. Here we discuss opportunities for change in households and organizations, primarily at short and intermediate timescales, and identify opportunities that have been underused in much of energy policy. Based on this survey, we suggest design principles for interventions by governments and other organizations, and identify areas of emphasis for future social science and interdisciplinary research.

Nearly 85 percent of the U.S. energy supply comes from fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil. Fossil fuels take millions of years to form and are thus considered to be nonrenewable. Higher energy demands and poor efficiency practices have increased fossil fuel usage, and it’s now critical to find alternative means of energy generation before depleting the global supply. It takes individual and community actions to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels.

The four most common fuel types used for generating electricity are natural gas, oil, propane, and wood. And though the first three options may be processed in power plants to generate electricity, much of their output tends to dissipate before they can reach their targeted destinations, like our homes and offices. Wood, on the other hand, is different. This is because it can be burned in your home directly; its energy potential can be tapped immediately for the generation of heat and warmth. Wood also has the potential to be a renewable energy source if it is used wisely

Slowly but surely the information about global warming seems to reach the most obstinate ignorants. Therefore let's sum up the current knowledge:
The global warming does indeed exist and it was mainly caused by humankind who is even still accelerating it.
From global warming we expect a rise of the average temperature leading to - among other things - melting of glaciers and melting of the polar ice, increase of the mean sea level as well as generally more of extreme weather events and nature disasters like droughts, floods, tornadoes, etc.
Only a drastic reduction of the waste gas emissions in the very near future can stop this trend.
CO2 (Carbon dioxide) emissions belong to the most important causes of global warming. CO2 is inevitably created by burning fossil fuels like e.g. oil, natural gas, diesel, organic-diesel, petrol, organic-petrol, ethanol.

Join the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Powerwall 2 is a battery for homes and small businesses that stores the sun’s energy and delivers clean, reliable electricity when the sun isn’t shining. Combine Powerwall, solar and an electric vehicle to create a zero emission lifestyle. The sun provides more than enough energy in just one hour to supply our planet’s energy needs for an entire year. Your home can capture this free, abundant energy source through rooftop solar tiles, turning sunlight into electricity for immediate use or storage in a Powerwall battery.

Powerwall provides backup power during utility outages, natural disasters and even the Zombie Apocalypse (you know it’s coming). Compact, stackable and with a built-in inverter, Powerwall also comes ready to integrate seamlessly with Tesla solar, enabling you to self-power your home and even go off-grid, if you like. No need to wait for the upcoming solar roof to buy one.
