Sana groaned as she sunk into the couch. It was late, and she needed to take her makeup off. But she found it difficult to ignore the longing for her bed.
“I made you some dinner.” Sana looked up at Momo's voice. “It's in the fridge.”
“Oh thank you,” Sana muttered, making no effort to get up. Instead, she let one of her legs fall to the ground as she cuddled closer to the adorable puppy-shaped throw pillow she had insisted on buying. Momo said it looked tacky, but Sana thought it was adorable.
“Sana, you're wearing a skirt. I can see your underwear.”
“And? You like what you see?” Sana teased, spreading her legs wider obnoxiously.
“Stop flashing me and eat your dinner.” Momo playfully slapped Sana’s ass and let out a pleased chuckle at Sana’s little squeak.
“Meanie.” Sana pouted, rubbing her butt where Momo had just slapped her.
“I barely touched you.” Momo rolled her eyes, before offering a hand to help Sana off the couch. Sana complied, letting herself get dragged up and towards the kitchen. “Sit.”
“I’m not a child.” Sana pouted, sitting at the closest bar stool to her.
“I know you, and I know you were just going to go to sleep instead of eating the dinner I so lovingly made for you. So be a good girl, and eat all of your dinner.” Momo put a bowl of bibimbap in front of Sana, leaving to get her a pair of chopsticks and a glass of water. “How was work?”
“Mmm…” Sana trailed off, taking a bit of carrot as Momo watched her. “My coworker is such an ass.”
“Which one?”
“The annoying one.” Sana pouted.
“Satang that tells me nothing, you know I think half of your coworkers are annoying little pricks.” Momo rolled her eyes.
“I know, my co-star, the alpha.” Sana sighed. “He keeps acting like he's such a perfect actor and that he has to mentor me because I’m ‘new to acting’ or whatever. Which is fine in theory, because it's technically true, but he acts like I have never even looked at a script before in my life. Anytime I make a mistake he makes such a big deal about it and makes it out to be a teaching moment only making everything take more time when I would have been able to do it right on the next take. Plus, he makes the same mistakes sometimes and it's not nearly as much of a production.”
“I’m sorry, that sounds annoying. Was that the dude that told you he liked your ass within minutes of meeting you?”
“He didn't tell me directly, he said it to the director, but I was right there and he knew it.” Sana rolled her eyes at the memory. “I swear I don't know how I’m going to survive two more months with that man staring at me all the time. He doesn't even try to hide it. I’m just happy my contract allows me two weeks off for my heat. My manager had to argue to get that in there, but I don't know what I would do if I had to deal with him during that time, even if I’m going to suppress it anyway.”
“Well if you have the time off, wouldn't it be healthier to just deal with it?” Momo asked.
“I don't think so. I don't really have time to find a heat partner with the way my schedule is right now.” Sana sighed.
“Mm… Sucks for you.” Momo teased her friend, giggling when Sana glared at her.
“Shut up. You’ve had a girlfriend for two months and suddenly you act all high and mighty.” Sana rolled her eyes. Momo giggled in response, moving to clean up some more of the dishes. “Anyway, changing the subject, how was your day?”
“It was fine. I was at the company for most of today.” Momo answered. “I’m working on some new choreography for the new group they are debuting soon.”
“That’s exciting! Did you have lunch with Jihyo today?” Momo nodded, a little bit of a blush on her face. “That’s so cute.” Sana giggled. “When are you going to bring Jihyo over? I want to meet her.”
“I’m not ready for that yet, Satang.” Momo dried her hands off on a kitchen towel, watching as Sana got down and brought her bowl to the kitchen. Sana quickly washed her dish and chopsticks, leaving the two to dry with the other dishes.
“That's okay. Take all the time you need.” Sana smiled at her oldest friend. “Thanks for dinner Momoring.” Sana pecked Momo’s cheek, much to the older girl’s dismay.
“Ew.” Momo tried to wipe the spot Sana had kissed, a look of disgust on her face.
“You love it.” Sana teased, moving away from her friend before letting out a yawn. “Goodnight Momoring.”
“Night Satang.”
xx
“ So after the meet and greet, you have an outfit fitting for the Elle Korea photo shoot next week, and then you have filming until ten.” Sana couldn't help but space out a little bit as her manager read off her schedule for the rest of the day. It wasn't that she wasn't interested, it was that it didn't feel like it mattered. No matter what Sana thought, she would inevitably end up in a car driving her to wherever she needed to go. Then, she would be instructed on what to do and what to say, and she would keep a smile the whole time, no matter how exhausted she was.
While Sana loved her job, there were many times it felt dehumanizing. Perfection and professionalism were expected at every turn, and Sana knew all too well that one slip-up could cost her everything. She knew the company had five other girls much younger and much prettier waiting on standby for the second Sana fucked up. It was exhausting always trying to keep up appearances all the time, but burnout didn't really matter to her company’s higher-ups.
“-Sana? Are you okay?” Sana snapped out of her thoughts as she plastered a smile on her face.
“Yeah, sorry,” Sana replied. “So the meet and greet, it's to promote the new movie right?”
“Well not publicly, but yes that's the ulterior motive. The public reason is to show your support for the Yonsei University students since that age range makes up a large portion of your fans and you are about the age to be in college.” Sana’s manager explained. “Just thank the students for their support and maybe throw in a little good luck on exams every once in a while. It shouldn't take too long.”
“Got it.” Sana nodded, flexing her hand in preparation for the amount of signatures she was about to have to give. No matter how many times she had done this, her hand would still cramp occasionally when doing longer meet and greets.
“Oh, and there will be lots of pictures. Make sure to tag Prada in anything you put on your story.” Sana nodded again, not commenting that her posts were going to have to go through her management anyway. “Also, here. You stink.”
“My heat is supposed to be this week.” Sana sighed as her manager handed her a scent blocker perfume. She knew it was a little stronger than usual, Momo had made her typical concerned face that morning when Sana left, but Sana had already taken as many suppressants as medically allowed, so she viewed the problem as dealt with. Her manager apparently did not.
“I know. Tomorrow is your last day of filming before we lighten your schedule for your heat.” Sana was used to working through her heat, but after multiple online fans had rallied around photos of Sana looking exhausted and uncomfortable working during her heat, her management had made the executive decision to lighten her workload during heats. Most omegas in the industry usually barely worked during their heats. While it was annoying for management, the fans on Twitter would call for company boycotts anytime their idols didn’t look 100%. Sana thinks that's one of the reasons omegas are a bit of a rarity in her line of work. “You seem a little out of it, I’ll get one of the managers working the event to get you a coffee, how does that sound?”
“Make it boba, and it sounds perfect.” Sana’s stomach was already a little upset with the amount of suppressants she had taken that morning without eating, the idea of adding coffee to the mix sounded like a nightmare.
“Okay, sure.” Her manager laughed, getting out her phone to text someone. Sana stayed quiet, instead looking out the window at the ashy streets of Seoul. Some days, it was really easy to do her job. But unfortunately, those days were getting farther and farther apart.
xx
Meet and greets were usually something Sana looked forward to. They were one of the more exciting parts of her job, and being able to properly thank her fans was always nice. They were the reason she had a career after all, and her opportunities to directly talk to fans were few and far between. Sure, she had live streams every once and a while, but as she got busier it was harder and harder to make time for them. And sure, Sana would have Q and A’s on Instagram every once and a while, but those were so moderated by her staff it was hard to feel genuine. But neither of those things felt the same as meet and greets. Meet and greets felt more authentic, and while her management constantly hovered over her shoulder, she could at least talk to her fans. Ever the extravert, Sana liked the idea of getting to talk to people and she would be lying if she said she didn’t love the attention.
Unfortunately, though, today was a little bit different. Her heat had her on edge, and as much as Sana wanted to look forward to her meet-and-greet, the idea of being surrounded by so many strangers so close to her body’s most vulnerable moment made Sana anxious. Sana had strong heats, and while her mom always told her it was a good thing and it meant she was very fertile, Sana had always viewed it as a burden. Even with the help of suppressants, Sana’s scent was still strong enough to draw a lot of unwanted attention. And dealing with a couple of coworkers’ unwanted attention was completely different than a bunch of excited fans.
“Miss Minatozaki, we are going to start soon,” Sana nodded, settling into her chair. She took a sip of her boba, letting the sugar enter her system. She was always tired nowadays, but her heat only made it worse.
Sana plasters a smile on her face as her fans start coming in. Fan interactions were always tricky. She had to be nice and pretend to be completely interested in whatever the fan was talking about or she would be called ungrateful. If she was too interested, it would push the careful relationship she had with her fans into the realm of danger. She danced too close to the line of an innocent and dangerous parasocial relationship with her fans for her to fuck up. While Sana loved her fans, she had always held a bit of fear for some of them.
But thankfully, Sana had practiced meet and greets many times. She had been in the entertainment industry since she was 14, so meet and greets didn't scare her anymore (even if she was terrified of the scent-blocking perfume not being strong enough).
The first few people blur together. Sana gives her practiced responses, tells people their outfits are cute, or thanks them for supporting her, and everything goes well. Her management had told her that they were only letting in the first 100 people, so Sana intended to keep track of how many people had come by. She thought she would lose track, but it thankfully wasn't too difficult once she started associating numbers with people.
Number twenty-three had a pretty smile. Twenty-seven needed to take a shower. Thirty-six was studying Japanese and used her to practice. Fifty-one had cool tattoos.
She wasn't prepared for fifty-two.
Sure, Sana met plenty of pretty people in her line of work. Her entire job was built upon outer appearances, she met plenty of people she found attractive during her time. None of them held a candle to fifty-two.
“Hi, what's your name?” Sana hid her momentary shock, shaking her head and looking at the girl in front of her. She was tall, definitely taller than Sana, and she had the nicest-looking eyes. She was different, Sana noted. Different from the countless (only sometimes attractive) alphas who hit on her at work, different from the many pretty fans she had seen through the years.
“Hello, I’m Tzuyu.” The girl’s Korean was slightly unnatural. Sana guessed she was a foreigner. “I’ll be honest, I’m only here because my friend dragged me.”
“Oh okay.” Sana should have been hurt, but she appreciated the honesty. “Do you know who I am then?”
“Of course I do.” The girl’s tone wasn't condensing in any way, just flat. Sana found it enduring. “It's hard not to.”
“Well, miss I’m not your fan, do you want me to sign your magazine, or would you prefer we spend these allotted forty-five seconds just staring at each other?”
“You can sign it.” The girl shrugged. “You're different than I thought.”
“What did you think of me?” Sana giggled, scribbling her name on the girl’s copy of her latest magazine promoting her new movie.
“I thought you would be a lot more ditzy, to be honest.” The girl’s face conveyed that she didn't mean it offensively, it was just a blunt statement. Sana guessed she did this often.
“Well, it seems my reputation precedes me.” Sana giggled. It was the most genuine conversation she had all day. It felt nice.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn't mean that in a mean way.” The girl's face flustered as she seemed to process how her statements were taken. Sana only laughed harder.
“It's okay.” Sana couldn't get over how adorable the girl was. “You're cute.”
“I would say the same, but I’m sure you're tired of hearing it.” Sana loved how much this girl was making her laugh.
“That's not possible when the people calling me cute are pretty girls” Sana saw her manager giving her the symbol to wrap it up. “It seems our time is up.”
“Mm, I guess so.”
“Thank you for coming, Tzuyu.” Sana handed the magazine back, a small smile on her face. “Maybe I’ll see you again sometime.” The other girl nodded, taking her magazine back and leaving the stage.
Sana wished they could have talked for longer.
xx
Hi Tzuyu,
Thanks for coming today :) I had a lot of fun talking to you! I hope we can see each other again
Thanks,
Minatozaki Sana

Interaction fifty-two was one in a million. Sana had met plenty of fans throughout the years, and she's sure not all of them were there to see her, but something about interaction fifty-two was completely different. Sana wasn't sure what it was, maybe her heat was messing with her or maybe she just hadn't been interested in someone in a while, but she found herself dreading the next interaction.
However, interaction fifty-three goes much, much better than expected.
“Hi.” Sana plastered another smile on her face. The girl that sits down is beautiful, Sana noted. She had a very elegant look to her, and the Chanel necklace hanging loose on her neck confirmed Sana's suspicions. “What's your name?”
“Mina.” The girl was shorter than the one before, but Sana noticed she was gorgeous as well. She wondered what she had done to get lucky enough to see two beautiful women back to back.
“It's nice to meet you Mina.” Sana could tell that Mina was nervous. It was written all over her face, and Sana found it incredibly enduring for someone who had such an elegant aura around them to be nervous. “Thank you for coming today. I like your necklace.”
“Thank you.” The girl responded in Japanese, which made Sana excited.
“Are you Japanese?”
“I’m from Kobe.” Mina answered, watching with an adorable expression as Sana took her magazine.
“Oh yeah? I’m from Osaka!” Sana giggled. “What's your major?” Sana asked after a couple moments of silence. Mina was quiet it seemed, but that was okay. Sana loved carrying the conversation.
“I’m majoring in Biology,” Mina answered. “Hoping to go to Med School.”
“Oh I wish you luck then!” Sana smiled. “I could never do anything like that.”
“I think you would be able to. I could never do what you do.”
“I think you definitely could. You are more than pretty enough.” Sana laughed at the blush on Mina’s face.
“I did dance all throughout high school and wanted to go into the entertainment industry for a bit, but I just- I could never do what you do.”
“Well it certainly has its hardships for sure, it's not impossible.” Sana finished her signature. It was then that she did something she had never done before. The girl seemed sweet, and Sana always enjoyed meeting people from Japan, and honestly maybe Sana was losing her mind from the last two interactions, but she decided to write an additional note in Mina’s magazine. Mina didn't notice, too busy trying to hide her nerves as Sana writes. “Thank you for coming today Mina, it was nice to meet you.”
“It was nice to meet you too.” Mina nodded, giving Sana an adorable smile as she takes her magazine back.
xx
Hi Mina-chan, thanks for coming today! I really enjoyed getting to talk to you! Good luck on your exams, and I hope to meet you again soon! With love,
Minatozaki Sana

“Nayeon Unnie I can’t do this.” Mina sighed as she paced back and forth, Seojun in her arms as the baby played with her shirt collar. “I have never done anything like this before. What am I supposed to do? What do people even talk about-”
“Mina, please sit down, you're making me nauseous.” Nayeon giggled as she watched her friend spiral. While it was nice that she had volunteered to watch Seojun, Nayeon wouldn’t have agreed to let Mina come over if she knew it was going to end with Mina pacing around the living room while she mentally prepared herself for her date. Mina refused to tell them the details, but Jeongyeon and Nayeon were just happy their friend was going on a date. Jeongyeon and Mina had met a few years ago when they were both volunteering at the dog shelter a few years ago and despite the age gap they had become quick friends. The first time Nayeon met Mina, she had practically adopted the younger girl as her younger sister. And because of this closeness, Nayeon knew firsthand how depressing Mina’s love life was. She had never even taken a rut partner before, let alone gone on a date with anyone. So the first thing that both Nayeon and her wife thought when Mina told them she was going on a date was finally.
“I just- what if I say something stupid or offend her or what if I mess up and she never wants to talk to me anymore and she tells Chaeyoung I’m weird and Chaeyoung doesn't talk to me or-”
“Mina.” Nayeon’s voice took a firmer tone as she pulled the younger girl down to sit next to her. “Mina it is going to be okay. You are overthinking this. Take a deep breath.” Mina followed her advice, focusing on the feeling of Seojun wiggling around in her arms and Nayeon next to her. “Better?"
“Mm…” Nayeon muttered, fixing the shirt collar Seojun had messed up. Seojun let out a whine in protest as Mina tried to pry his tiny hand away from her necklace.
“Here, give him to me.” Nayeon held her arms out for her son. Seojun settled into her arms, squealing in joy when Nayeon handed him his favorite toy. “You're going to be fine Mina, trust me. And if this girl takes one step out of line, or does anything bad to you, just know that Jeong and I will have your back.”
“Thanks, Unnie.” Mina slumped against the couch, checking the time on her phone. “What time should I get there?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, Jeongyeon Unnie said an hour is too early to show up for a date, so…”
“Okay yeah, an hour is too early.” Nayeon nodded. “What time is the date at?”
“Two."
“And how long does it take to get there?”
“Overestimating it should take about thirty minutes on the subway,” Mina explained.
“Okay, leave here at 1:30 then.”
“What? No way, I will be late. 1:15.”
“Mina…” Nayeon sighed. “Okay, fine.”
“Do I look okay?” Mina looked down at her outfit, making sure that she looked presentable. She had opted for a simple gray turtleneck and a black maxi skirt, a little nicer than she would normally wear but still casual enough that she wasn't overdressed (at least she hoped). She had also opted for a lighter makeup look, trying to make it look like she wasn't trying too hard.
“Mina, Jeongie and I approved your outfit last night.” Nayeon rolled her eyes. “Yes, you look fantastic.”
“Okay good.” Mina took a deep breath. “I’m sorry.”
“It's okay.” Nayeon smiled, rubbing one of her hands over Mina’s. “It's okay to be nervous, just be yourself.”
“But I- What if I’m not good enough?”
“Myoui Mina.” Nayeon squeezed Mina’s hand. “You are more than enough. And if this girl doesn't recognize that, then that is completely on her and she does not deserve you.”
“Thanks, Unnie.” Mina took a deep breath, going over everything once again in her head. After setting everything up with Tzuyu, Mina decided to poke around her Instagram to find conversation topics. It definitely wasn't creepy, she had reassured herself as she scrolled through all of the posts on Tzuyu’s Instagram. Based on the posts, she extracted the following conversation topics for their date. First off, Tzuyu had a lot of pictures with dogs, and it seemed like either she or her family had at least two of them. That was one thing they had in common, and dogs were a safe enough conversation topic to not seem creepy since Tzuyu’s profile picture was that of two dogs. The next topic Mina had come up with was being a foreigner. Tzuyu’s name had been a dead giveaway, but her Instagram confirmed Mina’s suspicion. Tzuyu had multiple posts of her in formal Chinese robes and with a Guzheng. So that was something they could talk about. And if Mina was really desperate, Tzuyu had posted a few pictures with Chaeyoung, so that was always something they could talk about. Three topics seemed like a lot. Mina just hoped they would be able to fill the time. “Okay. I’m good.”
“That's good.” Nayeon smiled. “Here, hold Seojun. He’ll give you good luck.”
“I was just holding him-” Mina tried to protest as the baby was placed in her lap.
“Thanks, Mina.” Nayeon smiled, getting off the couch and getting a glass of water. “You love your Auntie Mina huh Seojun?” Nayeon tickled Seojun’s tiny feet as he wiggled in Mina’s lap. Seojun giggled, wiggling around on Mina’s lap as she tried to support his little body. “Yes, you do, my little cutie.”
“If you're going to dote on him so much, why don't you take him?” Mina sighed.
“Ahhh, Alas my arms are too tired,” Nayeon whined.
“You only held him for like five minutes!” Mina protested.
“Can't hear you Minari.” Nayeon teased, putting her fingers in her ears. Mina sighed, moving back to support Seojun as the little one settled in her lap.
“You know, I really hope you are nothing like your mom when you grow up,” Mina whispered to the baby in her lap. Seojun didn't respond, grabbing the paw of his toy and sticking it in his mouth.
xx
“Tzuyu, you look great.” Chaeyoung giggled as Tzuyu stared at herself in the mirror. She had agreed to help her friend pick an outfit, but Tzuyu had been through multiple outfits already and so far none of them were right.
“No, too formal,” Tzuyu complained, making her way toward her closet as she took off the itchy sweater her mom had bought her for Christmas.
“Okay fine. The first outfit was too casual, the second was too hot, then too cold, and now too formal. Tzuyu, it will be okay. Just wear something you like wearing.”
“Says the person who spent thirty minutes picking out her outfit for her first date with Dahyun Unnie.” Tzuyu rolled her eyes.
“That's not true! It was like twenty minutes.” Chaeyoung defended herself, rolling onto her stomach on Tzuyu’s bed. “Look, just wear something that makes you feel cute. That's what matters the most.”
“What if Mina Unnie doesn't like it?”
“If she dumps you because of your outfit she is not worth holding onto.” Chaeyoung rolled her eyes. “Why don't you wear that new skirt you got the other day? You liked that skirt.”
“It's a little short…”
“Tzuyu!”
xx
Mina smoothed her skirt over once more as she waited. Nayeon had tried to convince her to leave later, but Mina ended up leaving at 1:00. Now, she just had to awkwardly wait outside the coffee shop. She had checked her outfit multiple times, checked her makeup, and repeated her conversation topics multiple times now. Now she didn't have anything else to do other than pretend to be busy on her phone.
Thankfully, she didn't have to wait too long, since Tzuyu was also early. She looked as gorgeous as last time, her long legs on full display in her short light light-washed denim skirt. She had topped it with a cropped white zip-up hoodie hanging off one shoulder, showing off a neutral-colored shirt underneath. She looked beautiful.
“Mina Unnie?”
“Oh, Hi.” Mina fought the blush as she shoved her phone into her bag.
“Hi.” Tzuyu flashed Mina a dimpled smile as she opened the door for her. “Sorry if I kept you waiting.”
“No, No, I just got here,” Mina reassured. Her nose was assaulted with Tzuyu’s scent. Mina’s brain filled with thoughts of being wrapped in that scent.
“Oh, that's good.” Tzuyu led them over to the front counter. After ordering some drinks, they both sat down at a table in the corner. Mina was glad they had picked something out of the way, she hated sitting in the middle of the room.
“So… How are you?” Mina cringed at her question. She sounded so awkward.
“I’ve been good.” Tzuyu stared down at her iced matcha latte, a flush on her cheeks. “H-How about you?”
“Me too.” Mina nodded, cringing at how awkward the whole interaction was. Mina took a deep breath. Dogs, being a foreigner, Chaeyoung.
Mina could do this.
xx
Despite the awkward start, they eventually started a nice conversation about their friends and being from another country. As they kept talking, Tzuyu couldn't help but become more and more intrigued by Mina. She was quiet sure, most of her answers were short and sweet, but Tzuyu found herself enjoying Mina’s company. They both realize that they are okay with silence and as they become more comfortable with each other, they become more comfortable with silence between them. They were both observers, and the longer they spent together the more Tzuyu realized it was nice to talk to someone else who viewed the world the same as her.
By the end, Tzuyu found herself not wanting it to end. Mina seemingly didn't either. That night, Tzuyu’s phone has a new contact sitting at the top of her messages.
After the date, they start talking. A lot.
Tzuyu usually initiated, sending pictures of cute puppies or kittens, and Mina would always respond with how adorable they were, and then their conversations would take off. They would talk about how their days went, the best place on campus for napping, their favorite coffee shops, and what order they wanted to get animals in. For two people who had been called quiet their entire lives, they seemed to always find something new to talk about.
Studying together becomes a normal occurrence, and sometimes Tzuyu even holds Mina’s hand while they are both working on homework. It's adorable, and Mina always makes sure to give Tzuyu a shy smile in response.
But for the first few months, that's as far as they go. It all changed one afternoon in September.
Mina knew her rut was coming up when she agreed to go to the new art museum exhibit with Tzuyu. She still had about a week, and she wasn't at the point where her scent was overpowering, so she decided it would be fine to spend the afternoon with Tzuyu.
It didn't take her long to realize that had been a mistake.
“Mina Unnie, is something wrong?” Tzuyu looked adorably concerned, leaning down to look Mina in the eyes. They hadn't kissed yet, but Mina would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about it. There were times she would find herself staring at Tzuyu’s lips, find herself nearly intoxicated with her scent, but she always held back. This was Mina’s first time doing any of this, she didn't know what Jeongyeon meant when she told her there was just going to be a right time.
“Oh… No.” Mina shivered at the closeness. “Just, a little cold.”
“Oh! Here.” Tzuyu immediately stripped off her varsity jacket, dropping it over Mina’s shoulders. “You weren't lying when you said you are always cold huh?”
“No.” Mina pulled the jacket closer to herself, getting a strong whiff of Tzuyu’s scent. She smelled good. Mina was still getting used to the idea that she was attracted to another alpha’s scent, but Tzuyu made it easy by always smelling so nice. “Have I ever told you how nice you smell?” Mina hadn't meant to say it out loud, and when she realized she had, a blush immediately burned on her cheeks. “Oh, I uh-”
“Thank you.” Tzuyu had the cutest smile on her face as she helped Mina slip her jacket on. “You smell nice too.”
The two of them were quiet after that, but Mina found herself slipping her hand into Tzuyu’s as they walked. Tzuyu squeezes her hand, and Mina notices it's the first time they have ever held hands in public. Mina was just happy the museum was mostly empty still.
“Hey Tzu…”
“What's up Unnie?” Tzuyu stops walking, turning to give Mina her full attention. Mina has to shake off thoughts of asking Tzuyu to come over later.
“I-I don't think I can study with you this week,” Mina mentioned, feeling the heat rising in her body. Tzuyu’s scent-covered jacket was like a catalyst, lighting her insides on fire.
“Oh. Okay.” Tzuyu seemed disappointed. Mina hated it.
“I’m sorry it's just-” It was embarrassing to admit it, but Mina had to swallow her pride. “My rut is supposed to happen this week.”
“Oh.” Tzuyu freezes, staring at the nervous look on Mina’s face. “I see.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You don't have to apologize.” Tzuyu nodded. “It happens. Mine is next month.”
“Okay, noted.” Mina felt like she was drowning in Tzuyu’s scent.
“Do you want to leave? You seem a little flushed.” Mina wondered if it was obvious. She was so used to locking herself away during her ruts, she wasn't sure how she looked during them. Studying medicine made her privy to some of the common symptoms of a rut. Stronger scent, dilated pupils, increased appetite, flushed cheeks, higher body temperature, higher sexual appetite; these were all the textbook signs of a rut approaching. Mina really should not have come, she rationalized as she found herself swimming in dirty thoughts.
“I- I’m okay.” Mina tried to stubbornly swallow her pride. “I still have a bit.”
“We can leave whenever you need to.” Tzuyu squeezed her hand, and oh god they were still holding hands. Mina hoped her hands weren't sweaty.
“Thank you.” Mina let her thoughts run rampant as they continued walking. Tzuyu’s scent was doing dangerous things to her, and honestly, she could feel her decision-making abilities practically evaporating as her thoughts turned increasingly inappropriate.
Eventually, her turbulent mind settled on one thing. She liked Tzuyu’s scent, and she needed more of it.
“Hey Tzuyu?”
“Hm?”
“Do you… Want to come over tonight?” Tzuyu froze, looking into Mina’s eyes to see if she was serious. After a couple of beats of uncomfortable silence, Mina noticed the wanting on Tzuyu’s face.
“Yeah… I would like that.”
xx
They barely make it to Mina’s room before Mina completely loses herself. She pinned Tzuyu against the door and looked into her eyes before doing anything.
“Is this okay?” Mina was trying desperately to hold onto herself.
“Yeah,” Tzuyu answered, letting Mina pull her into a kiss. Mina is quick to set the pace, getting on her tip toes to wrap her arms around Tzuyu’s shoulders. Tzuyu's hands settled on Mina’s hips, applying just enough pressure to drive Mina insane.
“Tzuyu…” Mina muttered as she pulled away. When she does, she notices how blown up Tzuyu’s pupils are.
“Unnie…” Tzuyu trailed off, being met with another kiss from Mina. Mina liked to think she would normally be more composed in the bedroom, but her rut was making it hard to think. Tzuyu didn't seem to mind though, her hands running up and down Mina’s sides.
Tzuyu let out the most adorable little noise when Mina slipped her tongue in, and Mina decided she wanted to hear it again.
Now fully in her rut, Mina drags them towards her bed, grateful that she had opted for a full-sized bed. Tzuyu is underneath her, and Mina quickly climbs on top of her, continuing the kiss as they settle. When Tzuyu tried to take off the jacket Mina was still wearing, Mina growled.
“Mine.”
“Yours.” Tzuyu rests one hand on Mina’s cheek. Mina nodded, resting her hands on Tzuyu’s stomach under her shirt as they resumed their brushing kiss. Tzuyu shivered as Mina slipped her shirt over her head.
“Unnie… You too.” Tzuyu blushed at her state of undress. Mina nodded, taking the jacket off to throw her shirt and bra over her head. Tzuyu watches with rapt attention as Mina unbuckles her belt, practically throwing her jeans to the other side of the room. Before moving back to Tzuyu, Mina slipped the jacket back on.
Tzuyu is embarrassed to admit how hard she got the sight of Mina in just boxers and her jacket.
“Mina Unnie…” Mina moved back to her previous spot, burying her face into Tzuyu’s neck as she let herself be surrounded by the other alpha’s scent.
“So good,” Mina whispered, leaving playful bites down Tzuyu’s neck. Tzuyu’s face was completely red, but her attention was completely on Mina. Mina practically felt like she was on fire.
Mina’s kisses move further as Tzuyu’s hands move lower down her back, and Mina is so hard it hurts.
“Tzuyu… I-I need you.” Mina stuttered, not noticing how she was humping Tzuyu’s leg. One look at Tzuyu told Mina that the other girl was nervous. Mina took a deep breath, almost choking on how strong Tzuyu’s scent was now. Mina needed it.
“I-How?” Mina decided Tzuyu was cute like this, waiting to be told what to do. Despite her inexperience, Mina decided to act on all of her direst fantasies from the last few hours.
“Suck me off.” Tzuyu nodded, moving their positions so she was on top. She started with a couple of kisses on the exposed part of Mina’s chest, and Mina shivered as the want continued to build. Tzuyu eventually made her way lower, and Mina felt her heart rate spike when Tzuyu kissed the band of her boxer briefs. Tzuyu looked up at her once, for permission, and Mina felt a rush of adrenaline from the innocent, pleading eyes. Mina nodded once to make sure Tzuyu knew that yes, this was more than okay, and Tzuyu very slowly pulled her boxer briefs down.
As Tzuyu experimentally touched Mina’s dick, Mina could feel the crescendo building inside her fast. Tzuyu eventually looked up at her, moving her face closer to Mina’s rod, holding it with one hand.
Mina almost came from the way that Tzuyu maintained eye contact with her as she sank down on Mina’s dick. Tzuyu started slow, her hand still lightly gripping Mina as she inched her way down. Eventually, Tzuyu pulled away with a small cough.
“Unnie… It's too big.” Mina’s head spun at the comment.
“Take as much as you can.” Mina’s cheeks burned. Tzuyu nodded, an adorable look on her face as she concentrated.
Mina didn’t last much longer. Tzuyu was so hot, and her jacket smelled so good, and Mina needed it so bad; anyone wouldn't last that long, Mina rationalized.
It's not like it takes Tzuyu that long to cum when Mina returned the favor.
xx
Tzuyu ends up spending all of Mina’s rut with her. They experiment with a couple of different positions; Tzuyu even manages to take Mina once in her ass (not her knot, but neither was expecting Tzuyu to be ready for that yet). Overall, the weekend was a blur of sex and hormones, and Mina honestly had never felt anything like it in her life.
“Thank you.” Mina’s rut was almost over, and now they were lying together in the afterglow of likely their last rut sex of Mina’s rut.
“Of course.” Tzuyu looked gorgeous like this, Mina decided. Her hair was a mess, spilling all over Mina's lavender-colored silk pillowcase, and she wasn't wearing any makeup, but she looked so ethereal, so beautiful, so real.
“I-I would like to do this again.”
“Me too.” Tzuyu smiled, settling into Mina’s embrace. “Are you tired? We can take a nap.”
“More physically tired than anything,” Mina explained, satisfied with how much her sheets were soaked in Tzuyu’s scent.
“How about I go get us some water?” Tzuyu offered. Mina really didn't want to leave the taller girl’s warm embrace, but as a medical student, she had to acknowledge that water was good.
“Cups are in the cabinet next to the fridge.” Mina nodded, watching as Tzuyu slipped out of her bed. Tzuyu slipped on her boxers and a t-shirt, not bothering with a bra. Mina blushed when she realized it was her shirt.
Mina had never been more thankful to live alone than that moment. Her parents had insisted on buying her an apartment when they moved back to Japan. Mina had tried to tell them it was too much, but they had insisted. Mina is still convinced the apartment was a reward for deciding to go to medical school instead of pursuing ballet as she had talked about throughout high school.
Tzuyu returned quickly, shutting the door to her bedroom as she returned with two glasses of water. Mina sat up, accepting her glass as Tzuyu sat on the side of her bed.
“I didn't know you were a fan of Minatozaki Sana.” Tzuyu broke the comfortable silence, and Mina followed her gaze to the poster hanging next to Mina’s bed. Mina immediately broke out into a blush as she looked at the poster. She had forgotten about that.
“I-I well- I think that photoshoot is really artistic-”
“It's okay.” Tzuyu laughed at Mina’s blush. “Chaeyoung likes her too. We watch her variety show appearances together sometimes. She’s pretty.”
“Y-yeah. A friend of mine got me into her.” Mina blushed. “She was a guest on last year's NHK New Year broadcast.”
“Oh yeah? I’m surprised Chaeyoung didn't make me watch it.” Tzuyu laughed. “You know, I heard she's doing a meet and greet nearby soon. I already agreed to go with Chaeyoung, but since you are such a huge fan… Would you want to tag along?”
“M’ not a huge fan.” Mina pouted, pulling her knees to her chest. “I just like her work.”
“Well, the offer still stands, if you’re interested.” Tzuyu giggled, taking Mina’s water glass and setting it on the table, moving to lie down in Mina’s bed. “Do you think you'll be okay for the rest of your rut?”
“Mm.” Mina hummed, looking over at Tzuyu with a smile. Tzuyu offered Mina one hand, and Mina immediately accepted it. “Do you want to stay here tonight?”
“I have class early tomorrow…” Tzuyu trailed off. “But if I can borrow some clothes, it'll probably be fine.”
“That's okay with me.” Mina nodded, laying down next to Tzuyu and burying her face into her comforting scent. Tzuyu didn't say anything else, smiling and laying a soft kiss on the top of Mina’s head.

reblogging to put this at the top, but see the post below this one on my blog for more info!
Mina sighed as she slumped further into her chair. It was late, and she really wished she could go to bed, but unfortunately, she had a big organic chemistry exam tomorrow. So, for now, her plan for the night involved practically locking herself in the library.
Mina rocked back in her chair, trying desperately to fight off the tiredness as she read through her textbook. As much as she wanted to be interested, the words in the textbook couldn’t be any more boring. She didn’t care about alkenes or alkynes or acids or bases or anything relating to chemistry. She had been told by some upperclassmen that the class currently causing her stress wasn’t even really important for her degree, but it was meant as a class to weed out any students who wouldn’t make it further in the degree. Which just made it even harder for Mina to motivate herself to study. She knew that she needed to keep her grades up for medical school, but that didn't make studying any easier.
Mina sighed as she looked around the library. She was expecting the library to be emptier at one am, but it seemed almost every table housed a tired half-awake student slumped over a textbook. Mina sighed, deciding to finally bust out the energy drink Jeongyeon had so nicely handed her after her last babysitting job. Mina wasn’t the type to pump unknown chemicals into her body, but her favorite coffee shop was long since closed and she was a few paragraphs away from falling asleep on her textbook, so it would have to do. As she sat up, she was surprised to see someone walking around. It was late, Mina didn't expect any new students to be coming into the library. The girl was seemingly looking for a place to sit, scanning each table carefully.
Mina felt her brain stutter as the girl got closer. She was tall, much taller than Mina, and her beauty was unlike anything Mina had ever seen. She tried to hide her blush, but Mina felt like her face was burning. Jeongyeon always teased her about being weak in front of pretty girls, but she couldn't help it. She just hoped she wasn't staring.
“Um… Excuse me?” Mina tried to shake herself out of her trance-like state as the pretty girl came up to her. “Would you mind if I sit here? The other tables are all full.”
“Oh-uh yes! Of course! Let me move my bag-” Mina stuttered out, grabbing her backpack and trying to move it quickly. However, she didn’t notice that the bag was still open, and when she tried to quickly jerk it towards herself, all of her stuff spilled out onto the ground. Mina felt her cheeks burn even more as she tried to collect her stuff as quickly as possible. She felt a hand on top of hers as she reached for her textbook, and when she looked up she was met with a polite, adorable smile. “Thanks.”
“Of course.” The girl giggled the cutest little laugh Mina had ever heard. “My name is Tzuyu.”
“Mina.” Mina quickly responded.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mina.” Tzuyu handed Mina her textbook. Mina nodded, quickly packing all of her stuff up. When she looked up again, she noticed that Tzuyu had already opened her laptop. Mina quickly looked back down, embarrassed at herself for staring. Mina took a deep breath, trying her best to focus on the textbook in front of her.
It was then that she was hit with the scent of another alpha.
She was ashamed it took her so long to notice, but she blamed her exhaustion. Mina didn't have a problem dating with alphas dating other alphas, she just had never thought of another alpha that way. Sure, she had always known she was more attracted to girls, no matter their rank. But that was usually limited to omega and betas. This was the first time she had found herself attracted to another alpha.
It was like the floodgates had been opened as thoughts poured into Mina's head. Tzuyu smelled good, she wasn't one to deny that. Coffee with a hint of vanilla. Mina never experienced wanting to be wrapped in another’s scent until that moment, breathing in the addicting smell in front of her. For the first time in her life, Mina thought it would be comforting to be smothered in another alpha’s scent.
xx
Tzuyu was never the type to be super hung up on who she thought was attractive. Alpha, beta, omega, boy, girl; at some point, she had probably thought one of them was attractive in passing. It wasn’t like she had a ton of crushes or anything, but she wasn’t one to deny when a person was attractive. Tzuyu only ever remembered having one crush, it was on an older omega girl from her music class in high school. Tzuyu still remembered how her heart would race and her face would burn whenever the girl would show her how to play a certain phrase on the Guzheng that Tzuyu was struggling with. As bad as Tzuyu’s crush was, nothing ever happened. The girl graduated a year before Tzuyu, and they slowly stopped talking to each other around the time the girl started dating someone else.
Now a couple of years later, Tzuyu wasn’t hung up on that girl anymore. Chaeyoung had been encouraging her to keep an open mind, they were in college now after all, but so far Tzuyu hadn’t found anyone that stood out to her. Sure, there were plenty of pretty people in her classes, but none of them captured Tzuyu’s attention.
Well, until the other night. She had accidentally fallen asleep after dinner, and in her panic to finish her essay due the next morning she rushed to the library at one am. She was surprised at how crowded it was, but she guessed it was people panic studying for midterms. She cursed herself and her sleepiness as she wandered the library trying to find an open table.
Eventually, she noticed a half-open table on the other side of the room, and as much as Tzuyu hated talking to strangers, she needed to finish her essay and her bed would be too tempting if she went home. So she decided a half open table would have to do. As she got closer, she got a clearer image of the other person at the table.
She first noticed how adorable the other girl looked. Her hair was tucked into a messy bun, a couple of strands of black hair falling loose as her full attention was captured in her textbook. Her small frame was drowning in an oversized white hoodie, and her face looked adorable as she concentrated. Tzuyu watched as the girl reached into her backpack, and when she looked back up, they made eye contact. She looked tired, that was for sure, but underneath the tiredness, Tzuyu could see how gorgeous the girl was.
If Tzuyu was nervous before, she was terrified now. But, that table was her best option, and Chaeyoung would tease her forever if she didn’t ever found out Tzuyu missed an essay deadline because of a pretty girl, so Tzuyu forced another deep breath before moving closer to the girl.
“Um, excuse me?” Tzuyu remembered how much she hoped she didn’t sound terrified. “Would you mind if I sit here? The other tables are all full.”
“Oh- yeah, of course!” Tzuyu didn't let herself giggle at the girl’s stutter. “Let me just move my stuff-” Tzuyu couldn’t hold the laugh back anymore when the girl accidentally spilled all her stuff. Tzuyu rushed to help, and she remembered how soft the girl’s hand was when they touched.
“Here you go.” Tzuyu noticed how nice the girl’s scent was. Lavender and Mahogany. Alpha smells went one way or the other for Tzuyu; she either loved them or hated them more than anything in the world. This girl fell into the first category. “My name is Tzuyu.” Tzuyu decided to give the girl her name after noticing how much she was staring at her. She just hoped she wasn’t reading too much into it.
“Mina.” The other girl responded.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mina,” Tzuyu tried to give her friendliest smile, noticing how flushed Mina’s cheeks were.
She did her best not to notice Mina’s staring as she set her laptop up. It was sweet, but their interaction so far was about the extent of Tzuyu’s game.
A couple of hours later, Tzuyu heard Mina gathering her stuff. Before she left, Tzuyu made sure to give Mina the best smile she could muster in her exhausted state. Her heart skipped a little at the adorable smile Mina sent her as she left.
xx
“You have a crush?!” Tzuyu always hated how loud Chaeyoung could be when she got excited. Tzuyu was never one to crave being the center of attention, she hated bringing attention herself in general, but being friends with Chaeyoung and Jihyo meant that enviably people would stare at her in public.
“Shh!” Tzuyu could feel how hot her face was. “It’s not a crush.”
“Tzuyu has a crush?!” Tzuyu sank further into her seat as Jihyo joined them. Tzuyu was just happy their drinks didn’t spill this time.
“I do not.” Tzuyu pouted, a blush still burning on her face. “I just, thought she was cute.”
“Oh yeah?” Chaeyoung had a smirk as she poked Tzuyu’s shoulder. “You talked to her right?”
“A little,” Tzuyu answered. “I told her my name.”
“Oh yeah? That’s a start!” Jihyo smiled. “Did you get her number?”
“No!” Tzuyu blushed. “Did you not hear the part about being in the library together at one in the morning?”
“You could have asked.” Chaeyoung shrugged.
“Or you could have left you number on a cute little note for her or something.” Jihyo agreed, taking a sip of her iced coffee as she leaned forward. “Tell me you at least got her name too.”
“I did.” Tzuyu nodded. “It’s Mina.”
“Myoui Mina?!” Chaeyoung shouted, standing up as she shouted.
“Shh!”
“Are you talking about Myoui Mina?” Chaeyoung repeated, marginally quieter.
“I don’t know, I didn’t get her last name.” Tzuyu shrugged.
“Give me one sec,” Chaeyoung nodded, opening her phone as Tzuyu tried to get rid of the blush quickly spreading to her entire face. “Is this her?” Chaeyoung had an Instagram account open on her phone. There weren’t that many posts, but Tzuyu immediately recognized the girl from the library in the most recent picture.
“Yeah, that’s her.” Tzuyu nodded, noticing that Chaeyoung followed the girl.
“Ohh, she’s cute.” Jihyo giggled as she took Chaeyoung’s phone, scrolling through the girl's account.
“I know her! We have literature together!” Chaeyoung smiled a mischievous smile and Tzuyu knew this wasn’t going to end well. “Wait… Mina is an alpha.”
“Yeah, I noticed.” Tzuyu watched the emotions play on both Chaeyoung and Jihyo’s faces. She had no idea it was going to be a big deal, but she could feel her flush returning to her as her friends looked at her.
“Oh, Tzuyu, that’s great! I just- I had no idea you liked alphas.” Jihyo nodded, a reassuring smile on her face.
“I’m happy for you.” Chaeyoung nodded. “I just, thought you had a crush on that omega girl from the music club in high school.”
“I did. I don’t exclusively like alphas.” Tzuyu sighed, taking another sip of her latte. “I like everyone.”
“That’s great Tzuyu.” Tzuyu hadn’t meant to make a big deal of her sexuality, but it was nice to be accepted by her friends. “Anyway, what are you going to do about Mina?”
“I mean- I don’t know. She probably doesn’t remember me.” Tzuyu shrugged. "And what if she doesn't like alphas?"
"Well did she seem interested?" Jihyo asked.
"I mean, she stared at me a lot."
“I think you should go for it!” Chaeyoung smiled. “Mina is a really sweet girl, and I know she’s single.”
“You should message her on Instagram,” Jihyo suggested. “What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
“She is creeped out by me because she knows I’m an alpha and she doesn't like alphas and she-”
“Shh. Mina Unnie is not like that.” Chaeyoung nodded. “Trust me, I think it’s worth at least shooting your shot. We can help you craft the message.”
Tzuyu blushed as she looked back at Chaeyoung’s still-open phone. She had never done anything like this before, but Jihyo was right. What was the worst thing that could happen?
xx
Mina was surprised when she checked her phone for the first time after class. Sure, she had a few friends who would text her, but she wasn’t the most popular person in the world. What surprised her even more was the fact that the person who messaged her wasn’t an account she recognized.
from: thinkaboutzu
Hey Mina, it’s Tzuyu from the other day :) Chaeyoung gave me your account, so I’m not a creep I promise. Anyway, thanks for letting me sit with you. You seem really nice, and I’m sorry if I’m reading too far into this, but I would like to see you again. Would you want to maybe go on a date sometime?
Mina felt her face burn as she read the message. The thoughts of Tzuyu’s scent came back to her mind as she thought about her response.

Hey Tzuyu. I didn’t know you knew Chaeyoung. I thought it was nice studying with you too. I would love to go out with you sometime :)

The thoughts of Tzuyu’s scent came back to her mind as she thought about her response.
to: thinkaboutzu
Hey Tzuyu. I didn’t know you knew Chaeyoung. I thought it was nice studying with you too. I would love to go out with you sometime :)

misahyo update time! if you haven't caught up on this au, i updated the masterlist for this one (here) so please try to read it in the order it was posted in (at least the misahyo stuff)
tw: anxiety, bullying, anxiety in children
Jihyo sighed as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket again. While she normally tried to be on top of answering her phone, now was absolutely not the time.
“These are our main components of aspects and form when considering sustainable designs, now as you may remember from the assigned reading last night, we have many other considerations in architectural design…” Jihyo willed the persistent buzzing in her pocket. She never really considered herself an overly anxious person, but she could feel her impatience and irritation slowly raising while she lectured. What if her father was hurt? What if Nico had an asthma attack at school? What if Mina was having a bad day? What if Sana was having an anxiety attack? All these thoughts swirled around Jihyo’s mind as she scribbled on the board. Truthfully, lecturing to a class of thirty completely checked out students was about the last place she wanted to be. But, this was her job. And she had to stay on track with her lesson plans.
She just wished the time would go by faster.
Eventually, the buzzing stopped. At first Jihyo was relieved, but that quickly turned to stress as her thoughts got increasingly darker. What if Nico was in the hospital? Her asthma could be quite severe, especially when she was sick. What if her dad was in the hospital? He had no one else to look out for him, and being more than an hour drive away meant that Jihyo wasn’t able to check in on him as much as she would like. What if Mina was pushed to a breaking point? What if Sana was?
Jihyo just wished the words would come out faster, and wished the time would tick by faster. She just wished to be out in the hallway, lecture done for the day, and checking her caller id for whoever was blowing up her phone with calls.
She holds it together through the rest of her lecture, answering questions as best, and as quickly, as she could. The minute Jihyo answers the last question, she starts gathering her stuff. She immediately grabs her phone out of her pocket, and her heart sinks when she notices the calls have all been from Nico’s school. The thought of Nico getting sick, or hurt, or worse just made her feel even worse. Thankfully, she didn’t have any panicked texts from Mina or Sana, but considering they also had classes at the moment, she expected they also hadn’t had the chance to check their phones.
As she’s processing her call history, another call comes through. She immediately answers it, her anxiety peaking as the line connects.
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Mrs. Park Jihyo?”
“Yes.”
“Hi, I’m Lee Seungmin from Sunshine preschool, and I’m calling about an incident your daughter Nico was involved in today.” Nico wasn’t normally the type to act out, so Jihyo was confused at the call. “We would like for you or another parent or guardian to come by as soon as possible to come speak about her behavior and to come pick her up.”
“I can come now, but it should take me about twenty minutes to get there.” Jihyo checked her watch. It was almost one in the afternoon, which meant she had another two hours before her next class. She could cancel it, but she did worry about keeping to the course schedule.
“Okay, perfect. Could you also possibly bring Nico a change of clothes?” Jihyo became even more confused with the question, but given Nico’s age, she chalked it up to a simple spill or mess. Thankfully, she kept a spare outfit for Nico in her car. It had come in handy more than once, and keeping extra clothes around was one of those parenting tips she refused to thank Nayeon for.
“Sure. Talk to you later.” After a pleasant greeting from the other end, Jihyo settled her stuff and set out. It was a bit of a hike to get back to her car, and her mind spent the entire time coming up with possible reasons Nico would be in trouble. While normally a little angel, Nico could get quite grumpy when she was woken up too early in the morning or from a nap. She could also get a little grumpy when she wasn’t allowed to play outside. She could also be a bit antisocial if Jihyo was honest. Her teacher had expressed concern over Nico multiple times, saying she was struggling to form friendships in her class, and that she was quite shy for her age. But, Jihyo’s dad told her that her teachers said the same thing about her at Nico’s age, so she tried not to worry about it too much.
The entire drive to Nico’s school, Jihyo thinks about all the scenarios Nico could have gotten herself into. Nico seemed normal that morning, so that ruled out the sick possibility. Nico had never gotten into any fights before, but Jihyo supposed there was a first time for everything. It could be another child's fault, and Nico could have just gotten caught in the crossfire. Jihyo really hoped that was the case.
When she got there, Jihyo's finds anxiety weighing heavier on her than usual. She always tried to be the calm one in these kinds of situations, tried to be the one Mina and Sana could rely on. But truthfully, she was just happy they weren't here to see her at the moment. She was barely holding herself together, and that was a terrifying feeling.
Jihyo gets quickly ushered into Nico’s classroom the minute she gets there. Nico’s teacher is there, but her daughter, and all the other kids for that matter, are suspiciously absent.
“Hello Mrs. Park, please take a seat.” Jihyo nodded at the instruction, sitting at the only other adult sized chair in the room. “I’m sorry to have to call you like this, but unfortunately, there was a bit of an, incident, today.”
“An incident?”
“Well… It all started when Minji took Nico’s stuffed polar bear she brings from home during playtime.” Jihyo immediately knows this story is not going to have a good ending. “And well, Nico did not take kindly to that. So she asked for it back, and when Minji said no, she tried to take it back. I was dealing with another student at the time, so I didn't notice it until it had already escalated a bit, but they got into a bit of a physical altercation. I could tell Nico wasn't the aggressor, well at least she was being less violent than Minji, but she was trying to fight back and she did push Minji to the ground. This led to Minji retaliating and she got a pretty good scratch before I could separate the two of them. After, I had a talk with both girls to see what happened and while I was talking to the office about calling their parents, Nico somehow ended up in the little pool of water we set out for the demo one of the teachers was going to do for the kids today.” Well, at least that explained the extra clothes. “Anyway, I wasn't personally there to witness what happened, and Minji said she didn't do it. Nico didn't say anything either, but she’s been quiet since the incident earlier.”
“Thank you for letting me know. I’m sorry she acted that way, she’s never done anything like that before.”
“I tried to explain to her that pushing people wasn't nice, and if someone was doing something she didn't like it was best to ask an adult for help, but I think in this particular case, Nico just felt cornered.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well Minji has always been a bit… Mean to Nico.” Oh no, Jihyo thinks, did her three and a half year old already have a bully? “It's never been physical before, and I’ve tried to step in when I see it happening, but I’m not watching every single child all the time, so there could be incidents that happen behind my back.”
“Wow okay, she's never mentioned anything about it at home.” Jihyo sighed.
“It's been a somewhat recent shift. Minji is fairly new to the school.” The teacher explained. “I have talked with her one on one about being mean to Nico, but she had never done anything. to warrant parent involvement until today. Even then, the school's policy states that any child that hurts another must be disciplined. And since Nico pushed Minji…”
“Yeah, I understand.” Jihyo sighed. “So I need to take her home?”
“Yes, that's the policy. She can return tomorrow, but please bring her in a little early so I can have a discussion with her and Minji about today.”
“Sure.” Jihyo nodded.
“I would like to talk to her with your present a little bit before you leave. I had her wait in the hallway, all the other kids are at recess at the current moment. Let me go get her.”
“Of course.”
Jihyo was not prepared for how absolutely wrecked Nico appeared when the teacher brought her in. Her clothes were soaked, and she had a little towel wrapped around herself to keep her from dripping all over the ground. Her arm had a large bandage around it, and she refused to even look at Jihyo. Once the teacher sat her down next to Jihyo, Nico buried her face in her towel, absolutely refusing to look up at either adult.
“Nico, can you please tell your mama what you did today?”
“Was bad.” Nico muttered it so quietly, Jihyo was surprised she was able to hear it. Her teacher certainly didn't.
“Nico, can you please look at adults when they are talking to you?” Nico nodded, burying herself further into her towel. Jihyo wasn't sure if it was her mom senses, or just a general understanding of how people act when they are upset, but she was immediately alarmed with Nico’s behavior. Nico had never acted like that, even when she was mad or upset, she never refused to look at them. “Nico…”
“Hey buddy.” Jihyo rested one hand on Nico’s back, whispering to her daughter. Nico was trembling under her hand. Jihyo felt the alarm bells get even louder. “Nico, sweetie, it's okay. We just want to talk.” Nico’s shaking got worse, and Jihyo could hear barely contained sobs from her daughter. “I think it's best if I take her home right now.” Jihyo addressed Nico’s teacher, who seemed to have noticed Nico’s distress.
“Yes, I… Do think that's a good idea.” The teacher nodded. “Nico, we can talk tomorrow.” Nico stayed in her little cocoon while Jihyo went to collect her stuff. Once she had Nico’s belongings, she addressed her daughter.
“Nico, it's time to go home.”
“Don't wanna.” Nico mumbled.
“You don't want to?”
“M’ gonna be in trouble.”
“Well maybe a little bit, but not until you are feeling a little bit better.” Jihyo knew she could just pick Nico up and carry her home, but she was scared that would cause Nico to get even worse. “Right now, I promise you won't be in trouble.” Nico didn't say anything, but opened herself up enough to take Jihyo's hand. Jihyo led her first to the bathroom, changing Nico out of her wet clothes as quickly as possible. She left the towel with the other dirty ones, and when she turned back to Nico she had pulled her sweater over her face. Jihyo didn't say anything more, taking Nico’s hand again and guiding her out of the school. Once they are in the car, Nico curls into her car seat, her sweater still on her face as Jihyo starts off home.
Truthfully, she has no idea how to handle this. Nico being unresponsive was new, and she seemed genuinely terrified of something. Whether that was punishment, or her parents, or Minji, Jihyo wasn't sure.
What she was sure of was that something was very very wrong.
When she gets home, Sana and Mina’s cars are both there. She's surprised to say the least, but she guessed they had also gotten calls from Nico’s school.
“Alright buddy, we're home.” Jihyo unbuckled Nico as best she could, gently picking her up to carry her inside. Nico didn't seem angry about it, but she didn't say anything to Jihyo as she carried her inside.
Mina and Sana are both on the couch, worry spelled across their faces. It only intensifies when they see Jihyo.
“Nico?” Sana ran up to them the minute she spotted them. Jihyo could tell she also sensed something was wrong. Mina was right behind her, her beautiful face marred with worry and dark circles. “What happened? Is she hurt? Why is there a bandage on her arm?”
Nico started shaking again as Sana talked. Jihyo’s heart sinks when she realizes they are at least a partial cause in Nico’s distress.
“She’s going to be okay. There was a little incident at school today.” Jihyo made a mental note to explain the situation more later, when Nico wasn't shaking in her arms. “Nico, you aren't in trouble. You can come out now.”
“No!” Nico buried herself further in her sweater.
“Sweetie, are you scared we are going to be mad at you? Cause we’re not, I promise.” Sana gently rubbed Nico’s arm.
“Nico, we just want to help you feel better.” Jihyo added to Sana’s comment.
“I was a bad girl.” Nico muttered. “I was bad and now mommy mama and ka-san and going to get rid of me.”
“What?” Jihyo feels her heart shatter at Nico’s statement. She absolutely never wanted Nico to feel unwanted, and the fact it was coming from them made it even worse. She watched Sana’s face fall, and she could feel Mina tense next to her. “Nico, we are never going to get rid of you.”
“Yes you are.” Nico muttered. “Mommy, mama, and ka-san have a lot, Auntie Momo told me that you guys are busy and I have to be good, and I wasn’t good. I was bad. So I have to go away.” Nico cried. Jihyo heard her breathing get shallower, and immediately handed Nico’s backpack hanging on her arm to Mina. Mina immediately understood, digging into Nico’s backpack for her inhaler.
“Nico, please take a deep breath. We are not going to get rid of you.” Jihyo gently pulled on Nico’s sweater, trying to get her to pop her head out so she could get more air, but Nico resisted.
“Nico please, just look at us.” Sana rested one hand on Nico’s arm, just trying to comfort her. “We would never get rid of you.” Sana’s tone was extremely serious. Jihyo rarely heard her wife that serious, and she was sure Nico wasn't used to it either.
“Even when I’m bad.”
“Yes Nico, even when you are bad.” Jihyo responded.
“We’ve never even thought about it.” Mina added, holding Nico’s inhaler in one hand, tensing when Nico started coughing. When Jihyo tried to pull Nico’s sweater down a second time, she didn't resist. Her face was a mess of tears, and her breathing was shallow, but Jihyo, and she suspected her wives as well, poured all of their love towards Nico.
“We will never ever in one million years get rid of you.” Sana whispered, gently kissing Nico’s forehead. “We love you so much, we will always, always be here for you.”
“Take some deep breaths okay?” Jihyo whispered as Mina moved closer, Nico’s inhaler in one hand. Nico struggled with her breath, tears trickling down her cheeks. Mina moved Nico’s inhaler closer, and the little girl immediately opened her mouth.
“In.” Mina whispered. Nico did as instructed as Mina used her inhaler. None of them could speak as Nico slowly got a better grip on her breathing. Jihyo didn’t know what to say, what to do. All she really felt like was a failure. As a parent, her main job was making sure Nico was safe, healthy, and knew how loved she was. Jihyo felt like she had failed at that. Here her daughter was, panicking that they were going to get rid of her over some minor dispute.
They were all silent as Nico slowly became even again. Jihyo moved them all over to the couch, rubbing a hand on Nico’s back as she slowly calmed down. Once Nico was calm, she laid against Jihyo, utter exhaustion written all over her face.
“Baby, I know your tired, but we just want to know so we can tell them how wrong they were, who told you we would get rid of you?” Sana whispered as she gently drew circles on Nico’s back.
“Minji was telling us that her brother was bad, so her parents had to get rid of him. And she told me that if I was bad, mommy, mama, and ka-san would want to get rid of me too.” Nico explained. “And since mommy, mama, and ka-san are busy, they don't have time to punish me so they are gonna get rid of me if I’m bad.”
“Oh baby.” Sana had a heartbroken look on her face as she tried to comfort Nico. Jihyo felt just about the same. “We are never ever going to be too busy for you. And we would never want to get rid of you.”
“Never ever?”
“Never ever.” Sana confirmed. Nico nodded, seemingly comforted by the reassurance and she settled into Jihyo’s arm. “Why don't you take a little nap, and we can have katsu curry when you wake up.” Nico nodded, her head resting against Jihyo’s shoulder as her eyes closed. It wasn't long until she was asleep, and Jihyo carefully carried her to her bed. Once Nico was settled into bed, Jihyo gave her a kiss to the forehead before leaving to go talk to her wives.
“That was rough.” Sana was the first one to speak up, her head curled into Jihyo’s side as Jihyo wrapped one of her arms around Sana and the other around Mina.
“Your telling me.” Jihyo muttered.
“I-I had no idea she felt like that.” Mina muttered. “Did we do something wrong to make her feel that way.” Jihyo knew Mina well enough to know the unspoken follow up question to that. Did I do something wrong?
“No, I think this Minji girl was the one who got the idea into her head.” Jihyo reassured.
“It does expose some greater issues though…” Sana trailed off. “Well, first, I think we need to take Nico to a therapist. Her reaction was, rough to say the least. It was like she was terrified of us. And while she's always been a sweet girl, I think she has a fear of punishment in general, like worse than most kids. The second is, we need to spend more time with her. Maybe she would have told us about Minji before if we had been around her more often.” That is easier said than done Jihyo internally added to Sana’s statement. She had spent plenty of time with Nico, and she had never mentioned Minji. But, then spending more time with their child was always going to be a good thing. She just hoped Mina and Sana don't start forcing themselves to spend time with Nico when they aren't emotionally ready.
“I do agree about the therapy.” Jihyo left her thought about spending time with Nico out for the time being. Her feelings were too complicated to talk about that at the current moment. “I can ask Nayeon Unnie who they sent the twins and Zumi to. I know they had a lot of success, especially with Jae. I know they were all around Nico’s age when they started.”
“Sounds good.” Sana cuddled closer to Nico. “And Mitang?” Mina looked at Sana at the question. “You did absolutely nothing wrong. Do not blame yourself for this.” Sana spoke before Jihyo could, and all she did was gently squeeze Mina to show her agreement. Tears came to Mina’s eyes as she cuddled closer to Jihyo. “Thank you…” Mina muttered.
“We love you Mitang.” Sana kissed Mina’s hand, holding it across Jihyo’s stomach.
“I love you too Satang, Hyo.” Jihyo smiled, kissing Mina’s head before Sana whined. Jihyo tried to give her the same, but Sana jerked her head up for a kiss on the lips, though it landed more on her cheek. Sana giggled, before moving for a proper kiss. Jihyo pulled away before she could get her tongue in.
“Hornball.” Jihyo teased. “Nico could wake up at any minute and here you are, trying to slip some tongue into an innocent kiss.”
“Guilty as charged.” Sana had a devilish grin on her face. “You know I can't help myself when you are all dressed up for work.”
“Well, save your horiness for later.” Jihyo gently pinched Sana’s nose, causing Mina to erupt into laughs beside her at the interaction. “We have a special dinner to make for a special girl.”
“Boo, you know I’m banned from the kitchen.” Sana poured. “Mitang you want to come upstairs to help me grab… Something?”
“Nope. Not falling for that one.” Mina grinned at Sana, giggling even more as Sana’s kisses started trailing up her arm. “Hey, come on. I’ll temporarily lift your kitchen ban.”
“Really?” Sana asked excitedly. “I get to help Mitang and HyoHyo cook?”
“As long as you don't call me HyoHyo.” Jihyo muttered. “Come on, we have to hurry if we want to be done by the time she gets up.”
xx
After a nice dinner, and a long night of reassuring Nico how loved she was, Jihyo finds herself alone on the balcony. For all Sana’s bravado earlier, she fell asleep quite quickly after Nico is asleep. Mina wasn't far behind her, and while Jihyo had laid with them as they fell asleep, she found herself unable to join them. It was already late, almost midnight as she sat on the freezing cold balcony bundled in her parka, but looking at the night sky was calming her mind, at least a little bit. She was also calmed by the single can of beer she had brought with. She wasn't one for drinking her sorrows away, but she did enjoy a nice drink from time to time.
Jihyo knew the alcohol was the only chance she had at getting to sleep.
She honestly wasn't sure what possessed her to pick up her phone, but she finds herself holding her phone to her ear while the other line rings. She can feel her nerves building, and half of her is tempted to hang up before the other had a chance to answer, but instead she found herself stuck listening to the ringing sound.
Just as she was about to give up, the line connected.
“Jihyo?” Nayeon's voice was quiet, Jihyo’s guessing she was in bed already. “What could possibly need right now?”
“Hey Unnie, could we possibly meet up tomorrow, to… Talk?” Jihyo tried to convey the seriousness of her tone. Nayeon would understand her. She knew she would.
“Is something wrong?” Nayeon’s voice took on a concerned tone. “Do you need me to come over now?”
“No.” Jihyo sighed. “No, we can do this tomorrow with Jeongyeon Unnie.”
“Okay.” Nayeon seemed reassuring. “Yeah, how about lunch tomorrow? I’ll get Jeongyeon to come.”
“Sounds great.” Jihyo nodded. “I’ll see you then?”
“See you.” As the line disconnected, Jihyo stared at the night sky. She had no idea how much longer they could all last like this, but it seemed like the cracks were already starting to show.

hi everyone! sorry this took me so long, i got super super busy with school 😭 i'm on break right now for the next few days and am planning on hopefully spending it working on fic stuff! anyway here's the misatzu picnic + baby sai i promised!
Mina sighed as she sunk into her office chair. She had just finished a long surgery, and while the patient had made it through, Mina was still exhausted. The day had started with a long meeting at six am, then Mina’s surgery had lasted pretty much the rest of her day. Now with only about an hour left, she was more than ready to leave.
“Doctor Myoui?” Mina held back a groan when she heard a voice followed by a knocking on her door. “Come in.” Mina muttered, holding back another groan when she noticed it was the newest surgeon. While she was a talented, well trained individual, she was always nervous running her own surgeries. Since starting, any cases assigned to her ended with Mina running the surgery and the new surgeon “observing”. Mina had been fine with it at first, but now six months in, Mina was tired of doing someone else's job.
“I have a laminectomy tomorrow morning, but I have never done one on my own, could you possibly assist me with it?” Mina remembered “assisting” with a laminectomy three weeks ago, and during the entire procedure, she was slow and made an effort to make sure the new surgeon understood everything she was doing. She would be fine observing and making sure that mistakes were avoided whenever possible, but she didn’t want to do another surgery that wasn’t actually her responsibility.
“Yeah sure.” But Mina was too tired to argue with the woman. Even if it meant they would probably end up in the same position next week.
“Thank you! It’s at five.” Mina wasn’t planning on coming in until around ten the next day, but  she guessed now she had to come in early. If she wasn't exhausted before, the now looming early morning made it even worse.
Once she was alone, Mina slumped back into her chair. Thankfully, she was finally done for the day, all she had to do was log her time and then sign off, and she could leave.
When she opened her computer, Mina couldn't help the little smile on her face at the little picture sitting next to her computer. The picture showed Sana and Tzuyu holding hands, Sai on Tzuyu’s shoulders after a long day at the local amusement park. Sai was half asleep on Tzuyu’s shoulders, a tiny smile on her face, Sana had the biggest smile, and Tzuyu had that goofy little smile she would give whenever someone said something funny. Mina had gotten the photo sent to her by Momo, as she had been working the full day of the trip. Even if she hadn't been there, seeing her family so happy made her happy. They had plenty of photos together, given Sana’s proclivity towards taking photos, but Mina was particularly fond of that particular photo. Mina was interrupted when she heard her phone buzz.
hi baby, we're at the park 😊 tzuyu got us a super nice spot, it's by the pond near the entrance closest to our house! can you pick up a little treat for sai-chan on the way? she was being so sweet and adorable earlier 🥹 i'll send you the video i took! see you soon 💟
Mina didn't even need to look at the called id to know that it was Sana. Sana always sent tons of silly emojis, no matter how old she was. Mina would never tell her she found it really adorable.
we can't just give sai sugar for being cute, i don't think that's responsible parenting
please 🥺 she promised to pick up her toys in the living room!
Mina giggled at the response, especially at the next text she got from Tzuyu.
do not get sai sugar, sana gave her cookies after lunch, she's just trying to spoil her
so i shouldn't stop at that bakery you like right next to the hospital and get two chocolate breads on the way home?
Mina giggled at her tease. Even if Sai had already gotten cookies after lunch, Mina was going to get her a little treat. She was already planning on getting a little dessert for Sana and Tzuyu, she tended to do that on days that were hard, and it would be evil to not get something for Sai too.
… fine…
Mina giggled at the response. Truthfully, they probably should be more strict with Sai’s sugar intake. Sai, like most four year olds, adored pretty much anything sweet. And while the occasional little treat was fine, they had been caving into her demands a little more than usual lately. Not the best example to be setting, but it was hard with the circumstances.
Finally logged off of her computer, Mina took off her lab coat and slipped on the warm jacket Tzuyu had gotten her for her birthday. The weather was starting to get cooler, and as Sana and Tzuyu always teased her about, Mina got cold easily. She tried to make a beeline to her car, politely waving to anyone she saw on the way out while trying not to engage. She ended up in a conversation with her supervisor, which did bring back all of her previous annoyance as he talked about giving her even more patients than she already had, but she finally was able to make it to her car a little while later. After a quick stop at the bakery, she swiftly made her way home, sipping on a nice warm coffee as she went. After parking at home, and grabbing another jacket for Sai (Mina was always worried Sai would be cold) she made her way to the park by their house. After work picnics were normal for them, Sai loved getting to run out her post-preschool energy while the adults enjoyed just watching and de-stressing after work. Usually, around dinner time, Sai would be a lot calmer and would ask to be carried home while Sana tended to any cuts or bruises she may have gotten while playing and Mina and Tzuyu discussed what they would do for dinner.
Unfortunately though, today’s picnic could not end as well as many of their others. While the sunset was likely going to be gorgeous next to the little pond, Sai might not be their biggest fan by the end of the night.
Sana and Tzuyu had reassured Mina it was going to go great, that Sai would be happy to be told she was going to be a big sister, after all, all of her friends had little siblings, and she always seemed a little jealous of them. Even Ai, who was two years younger than Sai, was already about to become an older sibling. Sai always seemed fine when the younger kids were around, but that didn't stop Mina from being a little nervous.
Three babies were a lot of babies to have at once. While she was great at holding it together in front of Sana (she was not), sometimes the stress would hit Mina in the quieter moments. Of course she had been on board with having another baby in the first place. Sai was perfect, and completed Mina’s life in a way she never could have prepared for, but they had always planned on having another eventually. Sai was at the perfect age to become an older sibling, old enough to listen and understand directions, but still young enough that it wouldn't be too weird for her. It's just, three more kids were a lot more, more than they had planned on. And of course these sorts of things just, happened, but Mina couldn't help but be a little stressed by the whole thing. Mina would love all three of the new babies as much as she loved Sai, but that didn't stop her from feeling the pressure of being a good sire to three more babies.
“Mitang!” Mina was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard Sana calling for her. Mina instantly put a small smile on her face, and made her way towards her wife. Sana was alone on their well used picnic blanket, a half opened book sitting next to her. Mina smiled as she sat next to Sana, immediately leaning her head on Sana’s shoulder before wrapping an arm around Sana’s waist. “Hi.” Sana giggled.
“Hi.” Mina breathed in Sana’s scent, the comforting smell of warm vanilla and marshmallows. Mina could smell Tzuyu’s influence in Sana’s scent, hiding behind Sana’s sweet smell. She had always loved how her partners' scents mingled together.
“How was work?” Sana asked, kissing Mina’s head as she picked her book back up.
“Mmm…” Mina grumbled, lightly squeezing Sana’s waist as she continued to let her partners comforting scents consume her.
“That good huh?” Sana giggled. Mina grumbled again, moving her face towards Sana’s neck for a playful nip. “Mitang!” Sana erupted into giggles, setting her book down once more and wrapped both arms around Mina.
“Where are Sai-chan and Tzuyu?” Mina asked, pulling away from Sana’s neck. She playfully scrunched her nose up when Sana gave her a short kiss, but it quickly faded into a smile as she laid her head in Sana’s lap. Sana grinned, put one hand in Mina’s hair, and resumed her reading.
“They went to go feed the ducks,” Sana responded. “Don’t worry, Tzuyu made her promise to throw the food this time.”
“That’s good.” Mina smiled. “How are you doing today?” “I’ve been a little tired all day, but otherwise, I’m fine.” Sana tangled her hand in Mina’s hair.
“I’m sorry. Maybe we can go to bed a little early tonight?” “But my favorite drama is on tonight.” Sana whined.
“Mm, well how about we just plan on watching it in bed? Then going to sleep right after?”
“Mmm, maybe. Knowing how up and down my energy has been lately, I might be completely fine after dinner.” Mina grabbed one of Sana’s hands and squeezed it. “Hey, what days do you have off next week?” “Mm… I think I have Tuesday and Sunday off. I’ll be on call on Monday, but if all goes well I shouldn’t have to go in.” Mina remembered.
“Okay. Can you pick Sai up on Tuesday? I have a photoshoot.” “Sure, of course. Nothing too stressful right?” “No, don’t worry. It shouldn’t take the entire day.” Sana let go of Mina’s hand to turn the page of her book.
“Okay.” Mina took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air. It felt nice to be outside after a ten hour shift. “I have to go in early tomorrow.” “Didn’t you go in early today to go in late tomorrow?” “Don’t remind me.” Mina grumbled. “Okay love.” Sana giggled. “If you want to talk, just let me know.” “It’s nothing new.” Mina complained. “Just, work.” “I know, I’m sorry baby.”
“Ka-san!” Their quiet conversation was interrupted when they heard a distinct screaming. Mina couldn’t stop herself from smiling as she sat up, immediately spotting her daughter. Sai was running as fast as she possibly could towards Mina, Tzuyu following behind her. Mina immediately opened her arms, catching Sai in a somewhat painful embrace as the toddler jumped into her arms. “Hi Sai-chan.” Mina whispered, holding back a giggle when her daughter scented herself. Sai loved her scent, in her own words Mina smelled ‘the bestest in the whole world’. Sai moved into Mina’s lap with her sire’s scent now wrapped around her. “Hi Mina Unnie.” Tzuyu gave Mina a small smile as she sat next to her. Mina smiled, kissing Tzuyu’s cheek while Sai got herself comfy. “Are you cold Sai-chan? I got you a jacket.”
“No.” Sai nodded, wiggling a little more on Mina’s lap to be comfy. “Mommy.” “Hm?” Sana turned her attention to her daughter.
“Duri.” Sai demanded. Duri was Sai’s favorite stuffed animal, and they knew better than to go somewhere without it.
“What do we say when we want something Sai-chan?”
“Duri,  please?”
“Good job.” Sana smiled, grabbing Sai’s little backpack and pulling out  the only thing in it. Sai’s face lit up as she cuddled her stuffed animal.
“Hey Sai-chan, I got you a treat.” Sai turned to Mina when she said that, a hopeful look on her face. “Treat?” Sai asked, her eyes wide as she set her stuffed animal down. “Yup.” Mina laughed at the adorableness of Sai’s expression before grabbing the treats she had gotten earlier. She passed one chocolate croissant to Sana, one of the chocolate bread to Tzuyu, and the final bread to Sai.
“Choco bread!” Sai smiled. “Thank you Ka-san!”
“Thanks love.” Sana kissed Mina’s cheek.
“Thank you Unnie.” Tzuyu grinned. Mina nodded, grabbing the bread from Sai before opening the package for her. “Don’t eat it too quickly, okay Sai-chan?” Sai nodded slowly as she started eating.
“Hey Sai-chan, we need to talk to you about something…” Mina was surprised when Sana interrupted their quiet moment, but this is what they had discussed. Ripping the bandaid off seemed like the easiest way to do it, and even if Mina was incredibly anxious about the whole thing. Mina was infinitely grateful Sana volunteered to be the one to explain everything to Sai.
“Hm?” Sai looked up at Sana, her mouth covered in breadcrumbs. Mina giggled, grabbing a napkin and wiping Sai’s face. Sana took a deep breath, Tzuyu grabbing one of her hands and squeezing it for support. Mina silently sent her support to her partner. “How would you feel about maybe getting a baby sibling? Like how Kihyunie has a baby brother?” Sai looked down at the question, taking a couple more bites of bread as she thought. “I would be a big sister?” Sai looked between all of them.
“Yeah.” Sana let out a breath.
“Mm… Okay.” Sai nodded.
“Okay?” Mina was confused how easily Sai seemed to accept everything.
“Yeah. Can I get cookies instead of chocolate?”
“What?” Mina asked, already confused.
“Yeah, Kihyunie gets chocolate when he helps with baby Dae. Can I get cookies instead?” “Sai-chan…” Sana looked towards Mina for help. Mina was just as lost on how to handle it as Sana, and a quick glance to Tzuyu showed she was just as lost. “We’ll… Think about it.” “I’m okay with choco too.” Sai nodded, going back to her bread.
“We have one more thing to tell you Sai-chan…” Sana started.
“Hm?” “Well, so remember how we told you that baby’s come for wishes mommies make when they are ready to have a baby?” “Uh-hm. Then they go into their tummy. Is there a baby in your tummy mommy?” “Yeah, well about that… So mommy, mama, and ka-san made their wish and instead of just one baby, mommy was lucky enough to get three babies in her tummy.” “Three babies?” Sai seemed extremely confused by Sana’s description as she finished her bread.  “Do mama and ka-san have babies in their tummies too?” Mina stifled a laugh. Tzuyu didn’t even bother, laughing freely at Sai. “Sorry baby, it’s just- wishes only work with omega mommies.” “Oh. So there’s three babies in mommy’s tummy?” “Yeah.” Sana nodded. “We still love you very much, but we might have a little bit less time to spend with you when the babies come. We will try and keep everything as normal as possible for you, but there might be some small changes.” Sana moved closer to Sai, opening her arms for Sai to crawl into her lap. Sai crawled into Sana’s lap, resting her cheek on Sana’s stomach. “How do three babies fit in here?” Sai whispered to Sana, who giggled.
“Well, they are really little at first, but they’ll get bigger over time.” Sana laughed, threading one hand through her daughter’s hair. “Are you okay Sai-chan?” “Uh-hum.” Sai yawned. “Three babies means lots of cookies.” “Sai…” Mina trailed off, looking at both her wives. “We’ll discuss it baby.” Sana answered. “You're going to be a good big sister Sai-chan.”
“I will?” “Yes.” Sana kissed Sai’s head. “We love you sweetie.” Mina cleaned up some of the trash, lacing one of her hands with Tzuyu. After a bit, Sai moved away from Sana, crawling back to Mina and situating herself between Tzuyu and Mina.
“Ka-san?” “What’s up kiddo?”
“Can we go home now? I’m hungry.” “Sure Sai-chan.” Mina giggled. “Are you two ready to go home?” “Of course.” Sana smiled, accepting Tzuyu’s help when she stood up. “Ka-san.” Sai whined as Mina tried to put her down. Mina was surprised with the clinginess, Sai always insisted on walking by herself.
“Oh sorry Sai-chan.” Mina picked Sai back up, holding her tightly as she tried to help Tzuyu clean up with one arm. Sai cuddled her stuffed dog, her face pressed against Mina’s scent gland. Mina kept herself from laughing from the ticklish sensation as she held her daughter. Once they were ready, Sana immediately moved towards Mina and Sai, lacing one hand with Mina’s while Tzuyu moved to her other side. By the time they got home, Sai was fast asleep, cuddled with Mina’s scent gland. “This is new.” Mina laughed as she balanced Sai in her arms, being careful not to wake her up. “She had a big day at school apparently.” Sana giggled. “She was telling me all about it earlier. I’m surprised she didn’t talk your ear off when you got here Mitang.” “Honestly, me too.” Mina adjusted Sai one more time. “Well, that went better than I expected.” “I feel like she hasn’t really processed it.” Tzuyu mentioned. “She is four, I think the implications of being an older sister to triplets hasn’t fully sunk in yet.” “Do you think she will be okay?” Sana looked at their daughter, a little bit of worry on her face. “I tried to word it in a way where it was kind of a choice for her, but I am already pregnant.” “We probably should have talked to her before we started trying.” Mina commented playfully.
“It just felt a little weird to ask my four year old if we should have unprotected sex.” Sana whispered, a smirk on her face.
“Sana Unnie!” Tzuyu blushed. Mina felt her own face heat up, looking at her daughter to ensure Sai was still asleep.
“Well I would have worded it differently.” Sana laughed.
“I’m sure you would have.” Tzuyu rolled her eyes.
“It’s too late now.” Mina smiled as Sai muttered something incoherent in her sleep. “Aww.” Sana whispered. “We have the most adorable kid in the universe.” “We do.” Mina whispered, gently squeezing Sana’s hand as she lightly moved her head towards Tzuyu. “I love our little family.” Sana commented after a couple moments of silence. “It won’t be that little for much longer.” Tzuyu commented as their house came into sight. “I think four kids classifies us as a big family.”  “Maybe.” Sana giggled. “Anyway, what should we do for dinner?”
As the discussion kept going, Mina took a deep breath. She never would have imagined her life the way it was now when she was younger, but as she looked at the loves of her life and felt her daughter’s gentle weight in her arms, she knew that this was way better than anything she imagined as a child.

hey guys i always feel bad when it's been a while since i've posted something so here's a little update for the angst fic (that now has a name!) if this feels awkward, it is the middle of a chapter (a direct continuation from the last post actually!)
(and if your new here here's the stuff i've posted so far for my new fic pt 1 || pt 2 || pt 3 || pt 4 || pt 5 || pt 6 )
“She seems to be doing okay.” Mina commented once they had taken Nico out to the hospital playground.
“Yeah, I was expecting the move to be harder on her, but so far so good.” Sana nodded, watching her daughter run around the playground. “Thanks, by the way, for the polar bear thing. She was so nervous coming in.”
“Of course, I don't want going to the doctor to be a scary thing for her.” Mina nodded, a small smile as she watched Nico drop her polar bear by accident. Nico didn’t seem to notice, scaling the playground once more. “It's already scary enough, being somewhere new.”
“It is.” Sana nodded, feeling the warm sunshine on her skin. She took a deep breath as a gentle breeze swept through the hospital courtyard. Her heart felt like it was going a mile a minute. There were so many things swirling around in her mind, Nico’s condition, Momo, Nico’s new doctor. It was exhausting. “Thank you again, for taking her on so suddenly.”
“It's no problem.” Mina commented. “She seems very brave.” Mina laughed as Nico jumped from the playground.
“You have no idea.” Sana sighed, willing her heart to calm down as her daughter played.
“There you guys are.” Sana let out a little yelp when Jeongyeon slung an arm around her neck. “How's my favorite little princess?”
“Don't let Hyemi hear you say that.” Sana giggled at the look on Jeongyeon’s face when she pointed that out.
“She's doing good. I officially cleared her to stay at home.” Mina seemed comfortable with Jeongyeon as the woman slung her other arm around Mina.
“Mommy!” Nico ran up to Sana with the biggest grin.
“Hi baby!” Sana caught Nico in her arms, holding her while she looked at her daughter. “What's up?”
“I wanna swing.” Nico pointed at the swing set.
“Sure, but can you say thank you to Doctor Myoui? She has other patients to see.”
“Okay.” Nico nodded, letting go of Sana and running to Mina. “Thank you Doctor Moyui!”
“Be a good girl for your mom, okay?” Mina smiled, taking a lollipop out of her coat and handing it to Nico.
“I will.” Nico had a huge smile on her face as she accepted the lollipop. “Thank you!”
“Thanks again Doctor Myoui.” Sana nodded as Nico ran back to her.
“Mina.” The doctor smiled. “You can call me Mina.”
xx
“Mom.” Nayeon giggled as Hyemi dragged herself into a chair. Hyemi looked like she was still half asleep, her hair messy and her favorite stuffed animal in her arms.
“Hi sunshine.” Hyemi whined, burying her face in her arms. “Tired?”
“Nico and Aunt Sana woke me up.” Hyemi whined. “I hate sharing a room.”
“You can go back to sleep if you want?”
“It’s too bright.”
“I’m sorry.” Nayeon smiled, putting a bowl of cereal down in front of Hyemi. “I’ve got blackout curtains if you want to sleep.”
“I’m already awake.” Hyemi sighed, grabbing a spoon and taking a bite of cereal. Her face dropped suddenly as she ate her breakfast. “Hey mom?”
“Hm?”
“Can I see Mama for my birthday?” Nayeon felt like her daughter had dropped a bomb on her.
“What are you talking about sunshine?”
“I want to see Mama.” Nayeon had known Hyemi would miss Jihyo. They had left quite suddenly, and Jihyo and Hyemi had always had a good relationship. Nayeon knew that no matter how much Jihyo hurt her, she would never hurt Hyemi. “Can I go back to Seoul?”
“Hyemi…”
“Please? I want to see Mama and my friends.” Hyemi looked at Nayeon with tears in her eyes. Nayeon sighed, it was too early for this.
“I’ll… I’ll think about it, okay?”
“Okay.” Hyemi wiped her tears, putting her spoon down.
“All done?” Hyemi nodded, grabbing her cereal and putting it in the sink. Hyemi barely looked at Nayeon as she walked out of the room, leaving her stuffed rabbit on the table.
xx
“Hey Nico, what do you think?” Hyemi asked as she took a few steps away from the bookshelf. She had been working on putting her books away all morning, but it had been a fairly slow process as she kept getting distracted.
“I don’t know?” Nico shrugged. She was playing with her stuffed animals on the floor, seemingly in her own world.
“Well, is it good?”
“Yeah.” Nico nodded, sitting up onto her knees. Hyemi nodded, sitting on the ground next to Nico.
“What do you think of this place?” Hyemi asked, laying on her back and staring at the lazy fan on the ceiling.
“I like it.” Nico muttered. “I get to be here with Unnie and mommy.”
“I hate it here.” Hyemi muttered. “I miss my friends, and my room, and I miss my mama.”
“I miss my mama too.” Nico whispered.
“My mom doesn’t want me to see my mama.” Hyemi blew her bangs out of her face. “She probably thinks I’ll leave her.”
“Why do our mamas have to be gone?” Nico asked.
“Cause they did something bad.” Hyemi muttered. “But, I don’t see why we have to suffer for it.” Nico didn’t say anything, laying next to Hyemi.
“Unnie?”
“Hm?”
“I’m gonna take a nap.” Hyemi just nodded, but she could hear Nico crying from where she was laying on the floor.
xx
“Sana?” Nayeon almost laughed when she ran into something on the floor. Hyemi had holed herself and Nico up in their room, claiming she needed to organize their stuff. Nayeon knew her daughter was still upset from the morning, so she left them alone.
“Mmm.” Sana whined, rolling away from Nayeon. She was wrapped in blankets and Nayeon noticed a pillow on the ground.
“What are you doing?” Nayeon laughed. “Why are you on the floor?” Sana didn't answer, rolling back towards Nayeon. Nayeon immediately knew this wasn't just Sana just casually napping on the floor. “Sana-ya…” Nayeon bent down, gently laying a hand on Sana’s back. “What’s wrong?”
“Nayeon Unnie…” Sana pulled Nayeon closer to her, wrapping her arms around her.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Nayeon asked, noticing tears on Sana’s cheeks. “Is it Nico? Is she okay?”
“Yeah, she’s fine…” Sana trailed off. “Momo texted me. She wants to talk about Nico.”
“Oh.” Nayeon muttered, laying down next to Sana. She wrapped her arms around Sana, resting her cheek on the top of Sana’s head. “Want to talk about it?”
“No.” Sana muttered.
“Okay.” Nayeon hugged Sana tighter. Sana and her laid in silence, and Nayeon ignored the pain in her back.
“Has Jihyo texted you?” Sana finally asked.
“Yeah, I was ignoring her for a bit but she's… hard to ignore for too long.” Nayeon muttered after a few beats of silence. “We should change our phone numbers.”
“I wish.” Sana giggled, cuddling closer to Nayeon. “Hey Nayeon Unnie?”
“Yeah?”
“Will this ever get better?” Nayeon sighed, holding Sana tighter as the girl she had come to see as her little sister cuddled her.
“I don’t know.”
