if we look at the original timeline (aka annabeth and percy being born in 1993) then 2009 was a big year for annabeth bcus not only did the battle of manhattan take place and she finally started dating percy, but also minecraft came out and i think that would be a big deal to her

what they mean: there's a deleted scene from dps where todd reads a poem in the cave for the first time, fully confident in his abilities. he's breaking out of his shell and has found his voice thanks to the poets, thanks to neil. this scene was supposed to be shown in between the cuts of neil's suicide, followed by a scene of the poets dancing and reciting poetry with mr. keating by a frozen waterfall. todd gains his voice at the exact same moment neil loses his forever. what the fuck. todd and the poets celebrate their life while neil loses his.

Giftedness is a form of neurodivergence. We also face difficulties related to our brains working differently from the norm, and it goes well and beyond just "my school/parents expected too much from me" or "I don't know who I am now that I'm no longer a student being graded on what I do." We often struggle with loneliness and loss of confidence due to frequent misunderstandings in our interactions with other people.

I don't know about other gifted people since I'm just one. I can't speak for everybody. But I personally have never thought it made me better than anyone else - just different. Regardless of our level of intelligence, whether it's below average, above average, or average, all neurodivergent people are struggling to function in a world that was not built for us. If you leave gifted people out of the equation, you cannot truly say you are for expanded neurodiversity acceptance and support.

Can we please start talking about how high IQ is neirodivergency? About how gifted kids NEED help in school? About how frustrating it is to live with a brain that doesn't cooperate because it wants to do things at a thousand miles per hour? How it feels like, as my dad so aptly described it, "having a Ferrari brain inside a fiat"?? How frustrating it is to try and tell people about to ask for help and only get told that's even more of a reason to leave you on your own? How growing up you feel like you have to jump to progressively higher and more absurdly difficult hoops because people take for granted what you already did? The struggle with having to do 60000 things because if you don't, you don't feel fulfilled, but if you do you are "overlooking school/work/family"? The struggle with finding a partner that stimulates you enough because life is so fucking boring most of the time since the things that satisfy other people do not do that with your knowledge-munching brain??

Please. We have problems too. Many, actually, but no ine ever talks about it and just assumes that high IQ=easy life

I don't wanna impose my idea of giftedness being neirodivergence, but honestly it makes everything harder to not fit in at all with neurotypicals but being seen as "not tormented/hurt enough" to be accepted in ND communities

reading through the gifted kid syndrome tag and literally nothing is about gifted kid syndrome. so here's a friendly reminder that giftedness IS A NEURODIVERGENCE on its own

not just a trait of autism and/or adhd, not just "gifted kid burnout" (y'all really have to stop with this shit)

it's a neurodivergence with its own symptoms, problems, positive aspects, difficulties that show up in social/adult life, ecc

i want my gifted kid content please and thank you
