Now in its fourth year, Columbus’ Pelotonia cycling event has attracted more than 6,100 participants — more than that of the 33-year-old Boston-area event on which Pelotonia originally was modeled — and raised nearly $35 million ($9.6 million and counting in 2012) for the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
But Pelotonia is more than a fundraiser. It’s also made bikes more visible in the community as central Ohioans take on a sport they might have otherwise overlooked.
