I see propesci as less of a romantic deal than you do (I just don’t see it) but I do think Prosciutto grips onto Pesci because he’s everything he never was.

Pesci has other promising traits that would be better outside of the mafia. He has a big heart and a strong build and he’s thoughtful and observant. He could do anything he wanted to if he put his mind into it.

Prosciutto could never make it outside of the mafia. This man can barely cook. He’s hardly the athlete. He’s cold and uncaring. Hell, he barely does anything outside of the mafia

THIS is why he’s like that about Pesci. Pesci had every chance in the world and he squanders it in the mafia. It’s not fair to himself, why waste all your talent on this? On him? Why?

Prosciutto knows deep down, he is nothing without Pesci. If anything, he’s calling himself a Mammone when he yells at Pesci. He may be looking down at Pesci, but he’s staring at himself in Pesci’s eyes.

my hot propesci take is that prosciutto depends on pesci just as much if not MORE than pesci depends on him. if pesci had his character arc a little earlier and could go on missions by himself, pros would be in full existential crisis mode

Pro genuinely believes in Pesci's potential but also he Needs to have someone who's reliant on him! Pesci's perfect bc he's a guy w Big Killer Potential so he's someone Pro can nurture and foster growth in and generally be a cool mentor for, but also Pesci is just. so lacking in confidence. so long as Pro doesn't do anything to help Pesci cultivate that particular trait and keeps up his abrasive tough love attitude everything's perfect

this is also a good way for Prosciutto to avoid any self improvement himself. as long as he's able to tell himself his asshole behavior is good for his v important and high potential apprentice who needs it he has no reason to change

He’s not sure why either, it’s his finger, shouldn’t he be the one to keep it? In a scenario where Pesci is just quick enough, lucid enough to keep beach boy on perfect task and manage to subdue Bruno, he may just slip it into his pocket to keep him grounded, a reminder

It becomes straight au/what if after this point cause i REALLY like the idea of Trish giving them up so Bruno and the rest of the gang aren’t killed. I can see her telling Pesci who Giorno and Golden Experience are, promising they can all get out of here together. Pesci and Bruno are so tired at this point, the capo STILL aging from Grateful Dead, a truce might be ideal.

But Beach Boy isn’t releasing anybody until Prosciutto is out from under the train

Pesci barking Giorno into order immediately, hook plunging into his wrist and constricted around Bruno’s heart at the same time. GE wouldn’t have another choice but to use the wheels and metal Prosciutto is tangled with to heal him, dragging him from under it would’ve surely been the killing blow. Pints of blood restored brings Prosciuttos face back to a living pink, glazed from sweat, a new hand too, formed from the grass and dirt. Pesci softens his grip at the results.

Noticing at the same time as Giorno, Prosciutto is missing an eye, and before GE can grab whatever wherever Pesci would stop him and reach into his pocket, tossing it to Giorno

“I dont want it to go to waste” his pinky finger, he could probably have reattached seeing what this boy is capable but what an insult to his mentor, the lesson that finally snapped him into place, erased like that, “use that,,, turn that…. Into his eye.”

Awkward again “if you can I guess?”

And GE can, and does, Pesci is stunned at the transformation, dead meat swirling into a small white orb, nail polish pooling to the center forming an olive green iris. He wonders if the color would’ve matched with the rock or the dirt the boy originally grabbed.

Prosciutto is out cold by this point, Grateful Dead and Beach Boy both reaching their maximum output and retreating to their users, Pesci isn’t quite sure how to act now, what was once an active hostage situation now replaced by an awkward silence. The turtle hasn’t left his grip this entire time, he doesn’t need it anymore, so he gives it to Trish, a peace offering.

Maybe they can take the boss on together
