Okay, picturing that was incredibly weird -- but who knows, it might work. If this demon continued loitering around, who knows what would happen. Probably something bad.
... You attempt your best to do some motorcycle noises. It’s bad -- no, it’s horrible. The demon just seems more scared now, and you can sense some anger there as well. This negotiation is going in all the wrong directions. “It didn’t work.”
“Motorcycle noises. Lucifer likes it when I do them…”
“…That and, um… fighter jet noises…”

Gouto purrs in acceptance – even though the Bernkastel thing lingers on your mind. Battler seemed pretty relieved that you didn’t know who she was, but who was she, then? Well, maybe you should probably ask later, even though this is a bit… weird, to say the least.
“Yes. I’m Raidou Kuzunoha, the fourteenth. I’ve been interested in magic because of my demons, so I decided to give it a shot. Even though I’m… not very good at it.” It’s a shame to admit it, but you weren’t expecting to get good in just a week; it’d probably come with lots of practice, at least that’s what you hoped – even though you feel you aren’t making much steps forward.

“Portrait? You mean that portrait on the main hall?” You remembered it very, very well -- it was probably impossible to miss, considering it was huge and very detailed. You had to admit it scared you, even though you didn’t exactly show it.
“This Beato... who is she?”
“They have a class on magic here? What the hell? Why didn’t anyone tell me? They better have put Beato’s portrait up in that classroom…
“…Actually… no, he’d just get distracted and drool over it 24/7. Disgusting.”

“It’s alright.” Hopefully there was still time to do this essay. It was a pretty easy subject, but you kept getting distracted by other things – but as soon as you were to get out, he notices Gouto, which makes him just give Battler a very confused look.
“He’s my partner, Gouto-douji. He helps me around.” And he can talk, but that was kind of a secret – which hopefully wouldn’t come up; if Raidou had to lie, things would definitely not go well. “… Bernkastel? I’ve never heard of her. Who’s she?”

You stay in silence. That was probably checkmate – I mean, you could swim, but still. You turn to Gouto for advice; maybe he could help you, somehow.
“Listen, Raidou – you’re screwed. Just go swim for a while so we can get outta here. I’ll just keep watching, I guess.” He whispered, low enough so the girl couldn’t hear. Well, maybe it was better to just get this over with, then.
“Alright, I will try. Do I have to change clothes?”
The hesitation in his voice, it’s all clear to her now. He probably felt insecure about his abilities! It was up to Kou to reassure him and convince him he was good enough to try out! She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. When she opens them, there is a noticeable shift in her attitude.
“Don’t be such a debby downer! With those muscles I bet you can do anything you put your mind to! I was once like you, unable to swim. But with some practice I was able to defeat the odds and overcome my fear!” In other words don’t knock it till you try it.

“I see. In my world, there are multiple clans of Devil Summoners – in which everyone succeeds the other with the name of the original Kuzunoha, and then loses their actual name.” But then it hit you. ‘Brother’? Maybe it was him, after all… wouldn’t really hurt to ask. “I have a small question. Your brother – is his name Battler? Battler Ushiromiya?”
As soon as Ange spoke about cats, Gouto quickly jumped back to Raidou’s shoulder. Not in defensive position, but he probably realized that it’d be better to give her some space.
“It’s fine. He’ll stay on my shoulder, then. I’m sorry if this is sudden, but I’d like to talk more with you about this. If you don’t have the time, it’s fine as well.”
“The fourteenth? Huh. You could say that I am the 7th Beatrice, from my own family. I wouldn’t say my family has a long history of demon summoning and the occult, since it all started with my grandfather… but that’s still nearly a century altogether. I also happen to be the head. I mean, sort of. It’s complicated. My brother is, too. And so is my aunt.”
When he gestured to the cat which approached her, Ange made a bit of a face. Great. Another cat. And of course it was a black cat, too.
“…I see… I haven’t had very good experiences with cats in the past, so sorry if I don’t really want to… play with it or anything. I’d prefer to keep all my intestines inside my body.”
That was a bit of an understatement.

You follow his lead, slowly – the song helped a lot, and after a few moments, you got used to it. It wasn’t really hard, and the other was leading fairly well; it helped, and the fact that you were already more comfortable in the situation was pretty nice, for a change. You relax and continue to follow his lead.
“It’s paying off, yes. You’re very good at it.” And here comes the question, and you can’t help but smile. “You looked like you were bored; and you are also one of the cutest people around here – I thought it was worth a shot. I’ve been thinking it’d be pretty awkward, but it isn’t. It’s nice.”
It takes no small measure of self control not to retort with something like ‘obviously’ or ‘of course it is’. He isn’t a celebrity in this city. The whole world isn’t watching his every move here. It’s both a comfort and a source of anxiety. That freedom led him to make some bad decisions in the past, but this is neither the time or place to think about all that. And so he smiles, settling for a silent thanks as he takes the handsome stranger’s hand.
“Would you believe me if I told you I actually took a ballroom dancing class? It was a total snooze fest, but this isn’t the first time it’s come in handy.” He can’t say he’s a flawless lead - it’s been a while, after all - but Harry would like to think he’s doing more than a good job. The song is slow enough that swaying and spinning gently is all it takes to look good. As if the pair needed to look any better. “I’ve gotta ask though, why’d you want to dance with me? Not that I mind, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not like there’s a lack of potential dance partners hanging around.”
