JJ sat in his red snapback and black collared shirt when you entered the Chateau. In truth, you were hoping to find him alone without the company of the other Pogues for fear that you’d be too shy to talk to the boy. He watched as you entered the living room and turned the volume of the television down when you stood in the threshold, looking at the empty room like you had never been in there before.

“Y/N, you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost.” You didn’t say anything as you walked into the room with quiet footsteps. Your shoes were soft against the wooden floor and JJ looked at you peculiarly. “The others aren’t here, if that’s what you’re wondering.” You let out an audible sigh.

“Oh, good,” you said. JJ quirked an eyebrow.

“Good?” He could see your cheeks turn red. They always did when you were shy.

“I just mean,” you started, “I wanted to ask you something but I don’t really know how to ask it.”

JJ laughed. “Come on, Y/N. You’ve never been afraid to ask me anything. Remember when you asked to try weed for the first time?”

“You laughed at me when I coughed.”

“Because you took too big of a hit!” The both of you laughed at the memory. “But seriously, are you feeling okay? I’ve never seen you this nervous.”

JJ could recount all the times you’d been too shy in front of him. The first was your first introduction to him at age ten after having been friends with Pope long before the Pogues were a tight knit group of friends. The second was when your bikini top had nearly fallen off (you had caught yourself before it completely fell, but JJ had to redo the straps to avoid strangers looking in your direction). The third was when you asked him to teach you how to surf. The fourth was now.

“I’m not very experienced when it comes to certain things,” you said as you played with your fingers. “And I think you, of all people, have had your fair share of experiences.”

“Okay?” JJ sat up straight and rested his elbows on his knees, trying to follow your train of thought.

“So, I met a guy the other night and we went on a date yesterday.” That was news to JJ. His ears perked up and he looked at you with interest and curiosity. “He leaves in three weeks and I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

“Are you saying you were nervous about telling me you’ve had a date?” JJ asked, laughing. “God, Y/N, I’m not gonna make fun of you. Hell, I’m proud of you for putting yourself out there.” You groaned internally. JJ wasn’t taking the hint.

“JJ,” you said with a quiet voice, “that’s not why I’m being so, you know. I’m not really expecting much from a guy who leaves in three weeks but I thought long and hard about it, and I came to the conclusion that if something happens, I won’t be mad.”

“So if this guy ends up wanting to date you after he leaves, you’re okay with a long distant relationship?”

“My goodness, JJ,” you said, rolling your eyes. “What I’m trying to say is if this guy wants to fuck, I’m okay with it.”

JJ’s attention shifted. His eyes snapped to where you were standing and his mouth stood agape, opened because he couldn’t find the right words he wanted to say. His cheeks were heating up at your sudden and carnal confession and JJ didn’t know what to make of the situation. His mind was blank and it was like he could hear the ocean’s waves in his ear, clouding his judgement. He avoided your intent gaze.

“But I don’t know how and I want to show me.”

He couldn’t look away from you any longer. JJ couldn’t deny that you were attractive and he couldn’t deny that he found your innocence to be something that made it seem as if you were untouchable – the very concept he wanted to ruin. In truth, he couldn’t recount all the times he had fantasized about taking your virginity or hearing you moan for the first time, but he always kept these thoughts to himself in favor of both keeping your friendship and not giving you a bad impression. Besides, you were one or his best friends.

“You want me to show you how to fuck?” JJ asked carefully. “Like, what are you talking about exactly?”

You swallowed your nervousness, wishing you weren’t sober in this moment. But you opened the door for this conversation and there was no backing out now.

“You know, show me what a guy likes,” you said, shrugging. “Show me what kinds of things make guys orgasm and how men like to be treated in bed. I mean, I know I don’t owe men shit but I want to make this guy feel good if we end up fucking.”

JJ came to the realization that he had never heard you swore so much in his entire life. His brain was running too fast and his mind was spinning. He stood up from where he was sitting and walked around the room, trying to grasp what you were asking.

“So you want me to show you what guys like in bed? What would that even look like?”

You hadn’t thought that far. You assumed JJ would be on board with it, given his sexually driven nature, and hoped he would be the one to take the lead. But he was standing with his hands on his hips and looked at you, waiting for an answer. You mustered up whatever courage you had left to speak up.

“Teach me how to give you a blowjob,” you offered. “Teach me how to be seductive, how to ride a guy, how to give a good hand job, how to–”

“I’ll do it.”

you and jj would be like the king and queen of the obx. everyone knew both of you, or knew of you, and even the people who hated you at least respected your conquest of the island. there wasn’t a street in the outer banks that you and jj hadn’t stepped foot on together. for a couple of young kids, you’d have covered a lot of ground in your two years together. essentially every night of the summer between 8th grade and freshman year, you and jj would’ve been out roaming the streets. your first summer together, jj would want you by his side at all times. “you’re my girl,” he’d say with a smile. “can’t let ya get too far away.” you’d spend the days surfing together, or hanging out on the hms pogue when big john let you take it out on the water, and the nights exploring figure 8 and the outer parts of the cut. sometimes the other pogues would tag along for the adventure, but they very quickly realized they couldn’t exactly keep up with the lifestyle you two lived. both of you could walk all night, no matter how many hours you’d spent under the sun that day, and no matter how little food you’d gotten your hands on. the conversations that you two had basically kept you going-- you could talk to jj for the rest of time if it were possible. the other pogues, however, tired very easily and typically cut out on you guys two hours into the roaming. once it was just you two, jj would have you pinned up against a tree outside of some kook’s mansion until they turned on the porch lights and started yelling for the pogues of the obx (ha get it that’s me poguesoftheobx hehe) to get off their property. the two of you would sprint around a few blocks, laughing and panting with your hands laced together. 

another one of your favorite activities to do with jj was night surfing. the two of you would hijack the van from john b while he was in the shower, sometimes paddling out onto the water, and other times just sitting on your boards in the sand just talking. that was one of your favorite things about jj: he was amazing at matching your energy. he was the first person to volunteer to tag along for whatever psychotic adventure you were going on, but he was also down to lay in the hammocks at the Chateau, you flipping pages in your book as he smoked a joint or took a nap. just like you, jj had a wide range in energy, and you appreciated his ability to adjust for you. unbeknownst to you, jj also loved that about you. as much as he wanted someone to go absolutely insane with him and do the stupidest shit, he also wanted someone who could reign him in, and someone who had a more peaceful side to them. peace wasn’t something that jj was very accustomed to, but it was something that he was always open to. the chaos that had been surrounding him his entire life sometimes became too much, so having someone who would ride roller coasters with him and lay in bed all day was euphoric for jj. and honestly, even your most serious, emotional conversations had resulted in the funniest inside jokes you and jj had. “sometimes i just feel like a fucking squid,” a quote from jj, was your personal favorite, but he preferred that out-of-context thing you’d said one time: “finding love in the galapagos islands.” those little phrases would slip out of both of your mouths at the randomest times. once, jj was having a very confrontational moment with topper, and you were there to witness jj tell topper to, “fuck yourself in the galapagos islands.” truly. those words. jj’s mouth. as willing at you were to tell that story at parties, you hated jj for the times he told people about. for example, when he told a group of tourons at a kegger about the time you told you mom you were ‘feeling a bit squid-ish’ as an excuse to get out of family dinner.

moral of the story, you and jj would be that couple. everyone knew it was you and jj until the end, with no ifs, ands, or buts about it. and, try as they may, they couldn’t hate you for being perfect for each other. it was the once in a lifetime, one in a million, wish upon a star kind of love, and somehow it was granted to you and jj. and no matter what bullshit came up, you both knew that you were it for each other. best friend, soulmate, twin flame kind of love.

Can I get an outer banks ship? I have long wavy/curly dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I’m about average height (5’4-5’5). I go with the flow and I’m the joker of the group. I’m athletic, competitive, argumentative, and easy-going. I’m also sarcastic, playfully mean, and low-key aggressive whoops haha. I’ve been told that I have a great sense of humor. I can also get pretty savage when it comes to roasting people.

I feel like you and John B would be so cute together! You would both be very chill and easy going, always being the life of the party! I feel like you would be one of the few people he’d open up to about his dad, and he would be your rock through everything. You two would crack jokes at the worst times to try and keep the mood light. You’d also both be competitive with each other in almost everything!

I feel like your best friend would be JJ. You’re like two peas in a pod an constantly roasting each other to see who could be the ultimate savage. He’d constantly make you laugh, and honestly, John B would get a little jealous of the friendship between the two of you, constantly making sure you knew you were his.

You and Kie would be so close, making fun of the guys stupid antics and having girl time away from everyone! You and Pope would have a good chemistry, similar to him and JJ, and he’d look at you like the little sister he never had!
