I just found out that there's people who think Will Byers from Stranger Things is aromantic. He's the most clear depiction of a closeted gay person imaginable. It is so incredibly obvious, there should be no debate. They like to appropriate the experiences of closted gay people and then get mad when people point this out to them.

Yea, there are a lot of examples of this. Good omens sticks out as the most egregious example in my head. Can I be real, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they don't like imagining gay people having sex. In my experience, it's not a case of "I don't think they're gay" but rather "I think they're gay and don't have sex". Honestly, a lot of people who claim to be a part of the gay community think that gay people are gross. They don't like to imagine us having loving sex. They like to imagine us holding hands and dancing in fields. Hate to break it to y'all, but sometimes gay men want to suck dick, and sometimes lesbians want to slobber all over pussy. If you're not going to be straight, people with "ace headcannons" think you should at least be pure lmao. If you're gonna be gay, don't you dare have desire.

Then there's also people who are just super annoying and think that everything should be about them. It's kind of insane, honestly. Gay people do not have NEARLY enough representation for people to be upset when we get more lmao. What kind of community gets mad when their members get representation? How are asexuals part of the gay community and yet don't like it when we show up on screen. That makes no sense.

just saw a meme referencing that infamous what are you doing step bro washing machine porn video and now my day is ruined. the only thing worse is that photo of that tiny white woman sitting on a couch surrounded by a group of huge black guys they use as a meme. they say „just dont watch porn“ as if porn has not become a staple of modern culture especially online. the lemon tree porn intro. the black casting couch. i have never seen any of these porn videos and never will but i still know because im online.

there are infamous german ones too, like the „warum liegt hier stroh“ (why is there hay here) which i know about because my mum once celebrated her birthday and put hay in the frontyard and it didnt fit the party theme so i kept asking why is there hay here? and all my parents male friends were laughing and giggling but refused to explain it to me (i was only 16 at the time). later i found out its because in that porn intro, the woman asks why is there hay here? and why are you wearing a mask? and the man says why dont you give me a blowjob? which is objectively a cringe porn intro but its not funny to me considering the woman was only doing it to make some money. as teenagers we would listen to a youtube remix of the intro to a porn video where a woman gets later on gang raped by firemen and we thought it was funny.

the memefication of porn is literally grooming in my opinion. its normalising porn, making it a fun, cringe, lighthearted joke, obfuscating the horrifying reality of the porn industry.

when i was a teen i was in the scouts and the group leaders (older teens and adults) would watch the pirates of the caribbean porn parody (if i remember correctly the most expensive porn movie ever made) together like once a year and would make jokes about it in front of us. the normalisation of porn is a fucking disgrace

and then there is this trend of using gay porn screenshots as memes, usually the bottoms. and i think about how high the suicide rate among gay porn stars is, and how common stds and other health complications as well as drugging of the people at the receiving end of penetration in porn is, how common „gay for pay“ is and how horrifying it must be to see what might be one of the most humiliating moments of your life on camera made into a meme.

porn is a fucking social ill and any criticism of it gets you labelled prude, conservative, or a hysterical woman. just like some addicts and alcoholics label everyone not doing drugs or drinking alcohol boring, except that at least drugs and alcohol are self harm, while porn addicts get off and rewire their brain to get aroused by harm inflicted on others

i FEEL like some of glados characterization is lost when the jokes about her circle around fitting the "dommy step on me sexy + intelligent + evil/cruel" archetype not like she isnt evil or intelligent or sexy but i do think i greatly enjoy her character more when i get to remember she is a little silly. she is mean and cruel by making up the most elaborate and stupid sounding insults ever. she has an extreme grudge against you which she insists shes not mad about while mentioning the fact every two minutes. shes madly obsessed with a woman who never responded to a word shes ever said. most of the shit she says is just straight up ridiculous. shes constantly battling intense feelings of loneliness while refusing to admit to anyone she could ever want company or affection. she is described by the creators as "throwing fits like an angry child". glados IS a little bit pathetic and silly and a very funny and very sad character. shes a woman of multitudes
