For one of the most underrated and over-hated characters in Vikings, and her very abnormal relationship with her son.

Hi so I wanted to ask, how do I write a confident character? (Specifically one in high standing, like a prince or a king)
10 Traits for Confident Characters
1 - Confident Body Language - Confident people display good posture (standing up straight, shoulders back, chin up), strong eye contact, and body language that appears positive and secure.
2 - Listening More Than Speaking - Babbling, interrupting people, and monopolizing conversation are signs of insecurity, so confident people tend to listen more than they speak.
3 - They Don't Seek Validation From Others - Confident people know who they are, what they can do, and know their own value, so they don't seek validation from others.
4 - They Don't Overthink Things - Confident people are good at evaluating a situation and making a decision rather than fretting over the different choices.
5 - They're Not Judgmental - Passing judgment and being critical of others isn't something confident people do, because they don't need to lift themselves up by knocking others down.
6 - They Speak with Purpose - Confident people are clear about their feelings and desires. They say what they mean and mean what they say. They don't tend to hem and haw or say things like "um" or "uh" when they speak.
7 - They Accept Responsibility for Their Mistakes - Confident people don't deny responsibility or blame others for their own mistakes. They own up to what they did wrong, apologize, do what they can to rectify the situation, and vow to do better.
8 - They Take Calculated Risks - When opportunities come along, confident people aren't afraid to take them, even if there are risks. They just analyzed the pros vs the cons first to make sure the risk is worth the potential reward.
9 - They Lift Others Up - Not only do confident people not tear others down, they actively lift people up and celebrate the people around them. They are fully aware of the contributions made by others and are happy to recognize them for it.
10 - They Ask for Help When Needed - Confident people know there's no shame in asking for help when it's needed, so they are able to ask for assistance without feeling bad, guilty, or ashamed. They also see the value in learning from others who may have abilities and skills they do not.

Móðir ( Ivar.OFC)
Tumblr media
She was an echo in the lands, her legend had been told time and time again. Men hailed her as the All Mother, second to none and women fashioned themselves after her. She was ancient it seemed and it was felt that she had always been, since the beginning of time.
She was the wife of Ivar the Fearless, son of Ragnar Lothbrok and her seven sons reigned on the thrones of the known Norse realm. Her lineage was carried down through the blood of them as well as her many grandchildren but still she was not settled. She wandered, collecting something more valuable than gold, she collected stories and memories, filling her cup with them.
At least, it was said the time had come, that she had been visited by Odin himself and would travel to distant shores that mortal men could not reach. She would join her beloved Ivar who had long gone before her but before she left the mortal realm, she would visit her seven sons. Pass to them seven relics that had been inherited by her when Ivar passed and share her final tale of her life with the great Ivar.

The Reckoning (Day 2-Favorite Episode) Ivar.OFC
Tumblr media
"It will not be long," Ivar spoke, his eyes intently on his wife and Inga gazed at him from their bed. She smiled and it was a smile she shared often with him, a smile that knew more then his words would say.
"Vengeance is an ill man's game, Ivar," she murmured and Ivar sighed. He looked away from her and into the small fire that he had built before she woke. He looked back as her warm and slim hand slipped into his. "Do not let it poison you," she pleaded and Ivar studied her quietly, then squeezed her hand.
"We must go," he said and kissed her knuckles before rising. He left the room without another look to her, he knew he would not leave if he did and he shook his head as he emerged, she was the poison in his veins.
---
They feared him, they feared the army he brought and he smelled their fear in the air as they lingered outside the walls. He knew their coming had been told of, Ecbert's true character would be shown now. The brothers were here to exact a vengeance their father had prophesied upon his death.
---
Ivar was not interested in remaining. He wished to deal with the King and move on, to raid the lands they had reached. He did not see value in them but his brothers had disagreed, pointing out their father's wishes. He argued with them to no relent, garnering a surprising ally in Sigurd but still no compromise could come of it. Even with the promise of Ecbert's land and crown, still there was unrest.
When at last the brothers left the King to hang in his prison, Bjorn sought Ivar and listened as his younger brother spoke of his desires, that he had not changed his opinion they should blood eagle Ecbert.
Ivar caught sight of Inga as she walked through the encampment, her eyes on him and he smiled, cleaning his ax.
"You seem upset, wife," he said and she pulled herself up onto his chariot.
"Ecbert lies to you," she said and Ivar looked up from the ax.
"Lies to us?" he asked.
"I have heard the whispers of the people remaining, those who were close to him," she said. "He gathered them for one final consul and told them his plan," she said.
"And what plan is that, wife?" he asked.
"He will betray you," she said and Ivar sighed.
"He is hung in chains and in a locked box, how will he betray us?" he asked and Inga rolled her eyes, causing a smirk on Ivar's lips. He enjoyed both her attitude and how much he annoyed her at times.
"It does not take freedom to betray other men, Ivar," she scorned. "He is not King," she said and Ivar's eyebrows raised.
"What do you mean?" he asked and she glanced over her shoulder.
"His son is King and Ecbert holds no power to grant you the lands," she stated and Ivar stared at her still. "He will promise you these things, sign the documents but his hand holds no power," she continued.
"You have heard rumors, little bird," he dismissed with a wave of his hand and she growled.
"Ivar, you wish to burn this land to the ground and have vengeance for your father, this is not the way," she promised.
"No, I will have vengeance when I blood eagle Ecbert and bathe in his blood," he said as he leaned forward, pressing his lips to hers but she pulled away.
"Ivar, you must listen to me," she enthused and he sighed.
"I will tell my brothers," he said and she rolled her eyes again.
"And they listen just as well as you," she muttered, storming off and he smiled watching her.
---
Ivar did not tell his brothers, he firmly believed his wife to have misheard the information and he wanted the death of Ecbert too greatly. The deal was made, the formalities signed and so the King gave what he had promised. Inga had disappeared, not tended to Ivar and instead sulked in the shadows.
---
She crept into the baths, she had followed Ecbert there and waited impatiently. She watched the King disrobe, sink into the warm waters and watched as he sliced his wrists, wincing with the pain.
"You go to death not as King," she spoke and he looked up at her, surprised by her presence.
"Who are you?" he demanded and she stood on the opposite side of the bath.
"I am the one who knows your truth," she said and Ecbert smiled.
"You are a heathen, what do you know?" he dismissed and she crouched down.
"I know you have betrayed the sons of Ragnar and go to your death before they can exact their revenge," she promised and Ecbert smiled. "My husband will find a way though," she promised.
"Oh? And who is your husband?" he asked.
"Ivar," she spoke.
"Ah, the mad little prince," he muttered and she laughed.
"My mad little prince will blood eagle your son and his sons in your place," she vowed and Ecbert gazed at her, an expression of concern. It faded and he sighed, leaning his head backwards.
"It matters not to me now, I go to my Lord," he whispered and Inga watched him for many quiet moments before leaving the baths. Had Ivar listened to her, they may have been able to leave these forsaken lands a lot sooner but now Ivar would seek revenge for Ecbert's betrayal.
