omg i would love some fic recs for jeff and his IssuesTM

since they're all about jeff winger and his issues there are different potential triggers written in - so be sure you're taking care of yourself by checking tags and avoiding anything that would be harmful.

also, many of these are in multiple parts that extend the stories- so i would recommend double-checking when you read in case there's more you're missing out on lol

these all range over different ships/no ships at all (there is no jeff/annie though bc i personally don't ship it or read it)

we'll start off with two of my absolute favorite jeff winger has issues series- Jeff Winger Is Bipolar and Therapy by @1mechanicalalligator. very, very highly recommend. the author is also my favorite community fic writer, so a lot of these on this list will be their works because they're genuinely so good.

Topics in Romance and Recovery- this is another incredible series by onemechanicalalligator - it is Abed focused, but part 7 is about Jeff and makes sense on its own if you were looking for just jeff-focused stuff

Introduction to Breaking Down Walls - jeff and his eating disorder!

Of Recklessness and Water. - short but so good. is about jeff opening up to abed about his ed

Corpus Delicti - jeff has major trauma from his lawyer career

I Can't Do This All On My Own- i love this series SO MUCH. it's literally so good. focused around jeff's ed struggles. it's by another one of my top fav community fic writers, anemicaxolotl

Batman Saves Rachel Dawes - this is a cute abed being a good friend to jeff and helping him talk out his depression. it's short but good.

Psychology of Getting Hurt - this is in a series that's pretty good. the next link below is part 4 of it and it's one of my favorites ever

Introduction to Coping Mechanisms and Supporting Friends - fairly long fic, focuses around jeff's alcoholism.

Image - the first part of this series is about jeff's self-image issues and part 2 focuses on dean pelton's near-constant sexual harassment of jeff and jeff growing to realize he deserves better. it's not anti-dean pelton or anything so don't worry about that. very well-written, def recommend.

Introduction to New Beginnings - these revolve around jeff's trauma and him in quarantine. i like the first two works in the series. have not read the last one yet.

Studies In Integrated Dysfunction Theory- this is a series: they're both pretty short but the first part is one of my fav shorter fics.

The Jeff and Abed Pilot - involves talk about suicide/mental health. is post-series finale and is about them going on a road trip together- i always yearn for more roadtrip jeff and abed content after i read this one tbh.

hope this helped some of you find some enjoyable fics! i'm sure there are more jeff winger has issues fics written about jeff's mental health (mostly based off canon), but these are ones i've read and enjoyed. they're all good quality - wouldn't recommend if they weren't lol :)

these are all from ao3, i haven't really explored any other fanfiction sites besides ao3 and wattpad but the latter doesn't have anything on this topic as far as i know. if anyone has any recommendations that aren't on this list let me know!! i'm always looking for more to read :)

and finally, once again, these are all varying levels of deep/dark topics that deal with a range of mental health topics. please check the tags on the fics themselves before reading to make sure it wouldn't do you more harm than good to read :)

Doctor mandated nap on the couch aka nobody can tell me this wasn't how Holmes was spending his time between murder 1 and murder 2 in Devil's Foot in the Radio Adaptation... I really like how they made it clear that Holmes is sick/recovering from a sickness despite all his running around trying to solve mysteries.

CBS elementary is absolutely bonkers, okay?

Sherlock crashes Joan’s car in the first episode. This is never addressed again.

Sherlock goads Joan into an illegal autopsy after he kept doing it wrong

One time Sherlock comes home with a human head and has no idea where he got it

Moriarty has a daughter who is kidnapped. Sherlock and Joan have to rescue her. With Moriarty.

Moriarty kills someone who tries to assassinate Joan and then sends her a letter basically equaling out to “only me kill you <3″ 

Joan beats up a cop in a boxing ring. Then she annoys Joan again so Joan prepares for round #2.

Joan shaves Sherlock’s head on purpose. At his request. He is bald or almost bald for several episodes.

A consistent running gag of the series is Sherlock waking up Joan in new and strange ways

Solo let out a soft: “Oh.”

Illya turned.

For one weightless moment, he saw Solo listing to the side. Head drooping. A flash of eyes, whites, rolled backwards. Illya caught him. He helped lower Solo to the floor while Solo apologized over and over.

He shouldered out of his jacket and folded it. “Here.” He murmured. He reached down and placed his hand under Solo’s head. “For your head.”

Solo lifted his head and let Illya place his jacket under it.

“Thanks.” Solo said. “You don’t have to do that.”

“Yes, I do.” Illya settled beside Solo. He gently pulled back Solo’s shirt. Blood. A lot of blood. He found the wound on Solo’s side.

Solo hissed in pain. “It’s fine. Don’t-” Solo gasped and jumped as Illya pressed his handkerchief to the weeping wound.

“How long have you had this?” Illya looked away from the wound and leaned over Solo, looking into his eyes. Solo was still sweating from running earlier.

Solo averted his gaze, looking up at the ceiling instead. He smiled, but the lines of pain in his face told a different story. “Not sure.”

Keeping one hand on the wound, Illya placed his other hand on Solo’s cheek. “Solo.”

Solo still didn’t meet his eyes.

Illya stroked Solo’s cheek with his thumb. “Solo.” Illya repeated.

Finally, Solo met his gaze.

“This is a bad wound.” Illya stated, his fingers becoming wet as blood seeped through the handkerchief already.

“It’s not.” Solo panted softly. “It’s not.”

“You should not have hidden it. You just had surgery-”

“We were busy!” Solo ground out. He was paler than before.

“You are taking blood thinners!”

“I was covering you!”

Illya sighed. He got up. “I’m going to see if there’s any medical supplies.” He took Solo's hand and placed it over the wound to keep pressure on it.

Illya didn’t find much, a few band-aids, expired aspirin, and an ancient thermometer. He found some old bedsheets however and carried them back to Solo’s side.

When he returned, Solo was a few shades paler, sweat beading on his forehead. Illya held his hand to Solo’s cheek again.

“You’re cold.”

“No, I’m good. I’m good. I just need a minute to rest.” Solo murmured. His hand had fallen away from his side, no longer putting pressure. There was a small pool of blood on the floor beneath him.

Illya began to rip the bedsheets and press them to the wound. Illya piled more makeshift bandages on top. He looked back at Solo's face. His head was sagging to the side. His eyes were half closed.

“You are running out of time. As soon as you’re out, I’m picking you up and we’re going.”

Solo was deathly white. “M’fine.” He sighed.

Illya bandaged the leaking wound as best as he could with the bedsheets. He tied it as tight as he dared around Solo’s ribs.

“We are getting out of here now.”

No answer.

“Solo?” Illya looked up from his work.

Napoleon’s eyes were closed and he lay very still.

“Napoleon?” Illya reached up and pressed two fingers to the pulse point on Solo’s neck. His heart rate was quick. Much too quick.

Illya grabbed Solo and pulled him into his arms. “We’re going.”

Solo said nothing, limp and clammy against Illya’s body.

small appreciation post for collapsing while still conscious

ok as much as i love a good faint im also a huge sucker for when a character collapses but is still conscious, maybe just dizzy or weak

stumbling or tripping on something and falling to their knees, too weak to stand up again

weak from fever or low blood sugar and failing to get out of a chair, lying on their back or side while the dizziness subsides (i actually had a fic planned for this at one point)

slumping into a chair because they cant stand anymore

reaching out to a table or wall for support and sliding to the floor (!!!)

sitting on the floor already but they slump to the side out of exhaustion

that thing where they throw their arm across their eyes out of exhaustion or dizziness (honestly one of my favorites)

there are probably a lot more im missing rn so feel free to add on!!

my family is fucking addicted to macgyvering and it's becoming a problem. every time something in this house breaks, instead of doing the sensible thing of replacing it or calling someone qualified to fix it, we all group around the offending object with a manic look in our eyes and everyone gets a try at fixing it while being cheered on or ridiculed by the rest.

it's a beautiful bonding activity, but the "creative" fixes have turned our house into a quasihaunted escape room like contraption where everything works, but only in the wonkiest of ways. you need a huge block of iron to turn on the stove. the oven only works if a specific clock is plugged in. the bread machine has a huge wood block just stapled to it that has become foundational to its function. sometimes when you use the toaster the doorbell rings. and that's just the kitchen.

it's all fun and games until you have guests over and you have to lay out the rules of the house like it's a fucking board game. welcome to the beautiful guest room. don't pull out the couch yourself you need a screwdriver for that, and that metal rod makes the lamp work so don't move it. it also made me a terrifying roommate in college, because it makes me think i can fix anything with enough hubris and a drill. you want to call the landlord about a leaky faucet? as if. one time my dad made me install a new power socket because we ran our of extension cords

I was in a rush clearing the dishes before he returned and grabbed the first book I saw to hide it, and of course I grabbed an English Bradshaw's Guide! The rail way schedule of all things! Why in the world would I ever need to know the train schedules!

this is my first time reading Drucula and I’m on May 8 and it’s awesome. Dracula launching himself onto Johnathan and stops and throws a mirror OUT THE WINDOW and the first thing Jonathan thinks is this is so annoying I can’t shave now 🙄🙄🙄🙄
