Queer homophobia is like regular homophobia but with cute little mittens.
Instead of: Gay sex is disgusting. I don’t want to ever see it on my shows.
Its: The oversexualization of male bonds is problematic. Why can’t men just hold hands and enjoy each other company. Why does it have to be sexual. We live in an over sexed world.
Instead of: Why do you need to get married? You just want to be special and to have extra privileges. There is literally no need for it.
Its: Only privileged gay people want to get married. They just want to assimilate. It wasn’t necessary.
Instead of: Gay people choose to be gay. It’s not natural. It’s a phase.
Its: We need to stop using the phrase, “born this way” Sexuality can be fluid. You shouldn’t close yourself off to the amazing connections you can have with anyone of any gender.

They way everyone wants to act like black gay men didn’t contribute to black and lgbt culture. Having the audacity to say that we should be thanking others for our own shit.

I think I never truly understood why the word Pride in our community was so important until I started realizing most of my life has been marked by a deep sense of shame imposed on me for not conforming to what society expects from a man. I believe that is the source of the loneliness I constantly feel, the reason why I'm afraid of being myself even around people who love and support me. But it helps to know I'm not alone and by connecting to my fellow gays we can finally be Proud of who we are.
Yes! Pride comes from Gay people saying that I love the way I am living my life. That we are not shameful to live the lives we are living. That our heads are held up high in defiance of society that requires us to be downtrodden.

Trust me when I say that we are tired of seeing gay men in media be victims, cheerleaders, bestfriends, and lovers. It’s time we get to see gay men be the one who swings the baseball bat. The one who starts all the trouble. The one being cheered on. The one who gets offered the shoulder to cry on. The one who everyone loves. The center of attention and the core of the story. The one who sets the whole goddamn thing in motion.

So much homophobia against gay men can be summarized to one thing: people thinking we don’t know our place. In their small brains, they have carved out roles and positions in which we should be playing, and they get irritated and upset when we don’t play along.
So for this pride month. I want every gay boy and man to hold their head up and just live your life and get what you want out of life. Stop asking for permission to exist and start taking up space unapologetically.

people on this shitsite (and twitter) want to convince themselves soooo badly that gay men are privileged and over represented just to start a debate.
Well they need to justify their society engrained hatred of us in a wake that is woke and progressive.

The anon who said that people conflating shipping with actual gay representation made a great point, as it’s something I’ve noticed happens a lot, especially in fandom-heavy online spaces. I have nothing against shipping, live your life, babe, but wanting two (almost always) straight men to bang ≠ gay rep.
And even if the men in question being shipped ARE canonically gay/bi… these are still fictional characters lol. They have little to no real-life impact on most gay/bi men, so we’re not elevated to a place of “privilege” by their existence.
Exactly! Like even if their delusions that there are so many gay men on tv were true, it still doesn't affect the real life issues of gay men.
Drag Race is so popular and an international hit, but that doesn't save local drag queens from being attacked and stalked by these conservative freaks and fascist losers.
Media is not a replacement for in real life progress. And just because there are people watching this content, doesn't mean there aren't people who are actively trying to make our lives terrible.

Homophobes know how natural homosexuality is. They know every generation at least 10% of the boys growing up will fancy each other and they are openly and toxically homophobic to prevent it.
They will make sure everyone around you feels dirty and disgusting for thinking those thoughts. They want to suffer and hate yourself. This is why you can't let them win and poison your soul.
Your love and your sex is natural as the stars shining above you or the wind through the branches.

getting real tired of the ~ straight women fetishise gay men to escape sexual trauma and misogyny therefore it's not homophobic bs
Truly. And then get mad when gay men say they don't like the series.

Being a gay man in society is knowing that both the status quo and the anti-culture hates you.

Being a gay man, society constantly devalues and tells you that you will always be lesser and the last one to be important. Which is why it hurts when we come to the community and you see people get mad at gay men for celebrating our own damn selves, and acting like we need to dim our shine so they can be seen.

The thing that angers me so much about how gay men are represented in media, is just the fucking box people put us in. Like they cannot imagine us in anyway but these fucking boxes. Like these writers would sooner blow their brains out with a shot gun, than write outside the box.
Like you could be like, "Oh here's a story about an awkward teenager who accidently becomes a drug smuggler during the summer, and actually really enjoys it and gets a whole bunch of money he uses for bullshit, and getting dates, and impressing people until it all catches up to him and things get serious."
And people will be like, oh that's fucking cool. But if I say it's about a gay kid, suddenly, that's not realistic. It's okay to have that story for a straight kid, but not a gay kid.
No the gay kid gets to be in another movie about a gay kid who spends his summer crushing for a guy, that ultimately ends with him growing up and feeling heartbreak.
Oh here's a movie about a guy whose way deep in his debts and has ten people who want his head on spike, well he just got a lead on a treasure that will set him off for life and pay off his debts. Can't be a gay guy though. What will the audience think if he's not living in the suburbs with his husband and 1.5 adopted kids.
