Study: Kim Hanbin

In which we dig deeper under the surface of our favorite KPOP idols.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the gifs used in this post. I am not an astrologer nor am I a professional psychologist. These are my opinions based on the research I have done personally/as a hobby. If you disagree with any of these statements, please do so respectfully.

Sun Sign: Libra (Air)

I love Libras!! Probably because they’re an Air sign, and I’m also an Air sign (Aquarius right here), but I do think maybe Libras are the best Air sign? Don’t quote me on that because Aquarians are spectacular. But, whatever.

Libras are ruled by Venus, which is the planet of love and all things sensual. Most of them are known to be very good-looking, not just face-wise but also in the way they dress. They’re very charming and captivating, as well as witty and flirty. I certainly see Hanbin as being charming and captivating, and he is definitely very witty. Flirty, I’m not so sure but only because he’s so desperate for a girlfriend 😂. Personally, I do think he’s good-looking, and he has a very lovely smile as Libras are wont to have. Along the lines of being captivating and charming, Libras tend to have a way with words. A lot of Libras write songs or poems, and we all know Hanbin is a master songwriter. He has a particularly clever way of writing lyrics, and basically, every song he writes is very emotionally powerful - even though he hasn’t really experienced romantic love for himself! That just shows how truly talented he is.

Libras are also known for their balance and fairness. They like to stay neutral in times of conflict, and they avoid confrontation when they can. Remember when Jinhwan pulled the hidden camera prank on everyone, and Hanbin left the table to get the coffee? If that’s not avoiding confrontation, I don’t know what is. (I totally avoid confrontation, too. I think it’s an Air sign thing!). Libras are usually really good to have around in an argument, though, because they can see things from all sides and can be objective. But they might not always speak what’s on their mind, as Libras can be pretty reserved. Sometimes it may seem like Libras don’t have a lot going on in their head (Dumbin, anyone?), but don’t be fooled. They’re just careful about what they share. Which I feel is definitely the case with Hanbin! He’s very smart, he just acts dumb sometimes.

In addition, Libras are really known for being calm, cool, and collected. While Hanbin isn’t always calm, cool, and collected, I do feel like his overall spirit is very laid-back and easy-going. Libras like their environment to be serene, and we all saw how at peace he was on that hike up the mountain. He likes to be in nature, and he likes to meditate. On that note, Libras are one of the most woke signs. They’re very knowledgeable about what’s going on, and they also have very big hearts (just like Aquarians). They want to help people as much as possible, and Hanbin certainly does so with his music!

Moon Sign: Pisces (Water)

Okay, listen. I’m not saying that Hanbin and I would fit well together, but I am saying we’re both Air sun signs and Water moon signs…

Moving on. Pisces, being a water sign, are usually pretty emotional. Not necessarily in a sad, moody way, they just feel emotions pretty deeply. They’re very romantic types, and their compassion is off the charts. They’re super imaginative, very wise, and somewhat mystical, even. Pisces is actually the last sign in the astrological calendar, and they are ruled by Neptune, so they tend to be very spiritual and can even feel connected to the “other side.” I think we know Hanbin is pretty philosophical, as evidenced by his ‘Nihilism’ tattoo, so I feel sure this is his Pisces moon peeking through.

Keeping with the dreamy, mystical, romantic vibes, Pisces really like to escape everyday life by doing activities such as writing, making or listening to music, or whatever they like which takes their mind off the real world. Hanbin, as we all know, not only likes to be out in nature, but he really buries himself in making music. He takes it very seriously, but he also uses it as an escape. He lets his imagination run wild, and he’s able to pour all of his romantic, dreamy feelings into his songs.

Chinese Astrology: Fire Rat

Rats are very intelligent animals in the Chinese Zodiac. They are very observant, and they work incredibly hard to achieve whatever successes they want to achieve. They can be somewhat cunning (which definitely fits Hanbin because he is a total Slytherin), and they definitely use their abilities to their advantage. But they’re also pretty popular, and a Rat is definitely known for being a people person. I think these traits fit Hanbin well because he’s definitely intelligent - he writes such amazing, clever lyrics - and he was chosen to be the leader of iKON because he has the ability to pinpoint each member’s talents and uses them whenever he can (like how he asked Yunhyeong to cook for the crew of their Beautiful MV to try and save money). And even though he’s pretty shy and reserved, people always seem to like and respect him.

Fire rats, in particular, are very active. Maybe they’re not active in body, but they are very active in mind. We know Hanbin likes to sleep a lot, but he does get in a lot of exercise, and his mind, certainly, is extremely active. Fire rats are also original thinkers, and they don’t necessarily like to conform to rules and regulations. They like to do things their own way. We see this whenever Hanbin takes charge of something, like the Beautiful MV. He was the director, and he knew exactly how he wanted everything to look. He came up with his ideas and his ways of doing things, and that’s what they did.

Numerology: Life Path 3

Those born with the life path number 3 are known as The Communicator. They are very good at communicating and connecting with people. They’re also very creative, so they tend to communicate via creative means. Hanbin definitely communicates best through his music, and the way he writes songs has a special way of connecting with people all around the world. As I mentioned before, even though Hanbin is pretty shy and reserved, he is still a talented communicator. He’s not the leader for nothing!

In fact, 3s often can be known for not communicating well through speech. Their minds move so quickly, so if they work with somebody who moves more slowly than they do, they can be a bit blunt. Most of the time, they communicated with compassion, but they’re always very direct. When they have the time to gather their thoughts and are not put under the pressure of working with a bunch of other people is when they really shine.

Now, we all know Hanbin does not have romantic experience. But when he does enter into a relationship, his 3 aspect will really help him out. 3s are very romantic and fiercely loyal in relationships. They can also tend to hold onto the past, so hopefully Hanbin never enters into a relationship which ends badly. He probably won’t take it well!

MBTI: INFP

Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving

Hanbin is Introverted which means he draws energy from within rather than from external sources. He focuses on developing his inner life and prefers to be by himself or with a small group of people instead of a large crowd. I can definitely see how Hanbin is introverted because he loves doing more individual-based activities like hiking, and he has a small group of friends he hangs out and works with.

Hanbin is Intuitive which means he is able to think more abstractly. He’s more imaginative, and he’s able to look at the big picture and imagine the possibilities. His ability to write amazing romantic songs when he has virtually no romantic experience is a dead giveaway for his N function.

Hanbin is Feeling which means his thinking and actions are governed more by his heart and how he feels. He makes decisions based on emotions which makes sense because he is a Pisces moon.

Finally, Hanbin is Perceiving which means he lives life in a more laid-back, free-thinking kind of way. It also means his Intuition function is what he displays to the world, so that’s what the people around him notice the most about the way he makes decisions.

The INFP is known as The Mediator. (Sound like a Libra, at all?!) They are true idealists, always looking for the best in situations and wanting to make things better.

summary: As the Queen, you should loyally stay by the King’s side… word count: 3.7k + tags/warnings: mention of violence and death (non-descript), King AU, angst a/n: This is my interpretation of Agust D’s alter-egos. Also, my first “fantasy AU” if you will. As it got longer, I needed a place to stop so there is a cliffhanger, I’m sorry 🙈 will update in the future. The townspeople looked like ants from your vantage point, mewling around just as the sun peaked in the horizon. Donkey could be heard from afar, hard-working men taking their cattle through the village, some to the local butcher. It was all very- domestic.

A pair of cold hands rubbed your exposed shoulders, running down the length of your arms before he entangled his fingers with yours.

“Here you are,” he said in a low tone close to your ear, taking in the sweet scent of your long, black hair. You blinked slowly, falling into his chest. He moved his gaze over your face and you put on a smile that appeased him. You ran your finger over the fresh scar on his eye, he pulled back to kiss the palm of your hand, never tearing his dark eyes from yours.

He came to your side, taking in the magnificent view of the land that was all his. You kept your eyes on him, his long blond hair combed perfectly and laying flat against his back. He was dressed in the finest silks with gold jewelry adorning his pale skin, you thought of his concubines that certainly dressed him with care. That’s what they were there for after all. You smirked to yourself, hiding the jealously you felt thinking about those younger women.

You sighed, the fresh breeze from the mountaintop palace coursing through the open balcony where you stood next to your king. Everything surrounding the palace was lush in color, bringing a figurative light into your life along with the sun that shined brightly. The rays felt comforting against your skin, you closed your eyes to take in the air, feeling a moment of peace.

“May I ask for a favor?” You opened your eyes to look at your king. A chill ran down your spine as you found his cold ones already set on you, the trace of a menacing smile on his face. He softened his expression, moving to caress your cheek. You pressed yourself deeply into his touch, never blinking or taking your eyes away from his attention.

“Anything my queen,” he leaned forward, his lips hovering over yours. He drank you in with his stare before pressing his lips lightly on yours.

“I would like to go into town today, before the sun sets,” you explained. He kept the distance uncomfortably close, making the air thin between you.

His thin lips curled into a smile, you tried not to stare at the wound over his eye. He wasn’t ashamed of it but you knew it took a part of his pride away when you focused on it too long.

He pulled away slowly, the tips of his fingers against your soft skin as he did so left goosebumps all over you. You let out a quiet breath, smiling curiously at him. He inquired you with his own, before turning back to the view. He pressed his hands on the stone edge, thinking deeply.

“Why?”

You moved closer to him, fixing the collar of his silk robe, smoothing it, “I had a dress made for tonight, I need to have it before-”

“Have one of your servants retrieve it for you,” he solved the problem for you, looking down at you.

You nodded, “I need to try it on in case there are a few more adjustments to be made,” you held his stare, tilting your head and smiling. He leaned down to kiss you, granting your favor.

“Go now so you can be back in time.”

You thanked him, prancing away much like the day you turned sixteen years old, though that was 13 years ago.

“My love,” his deep voice echoed throughout the stone room. You turned to face him, staring at him across the room, “yes, my King?”

“Bring a guardsman with you, with the execution today, your safety could be at risk.”

“Oh but my-”

His deep laugh boomed in the emptiness around the empty castle walls, “did I mistake that as a choice?”

“No of course not,” you spoke meekly, moving away with less excitement. After changing into something more suitable for a town visit, you met the guardsman out by the horse-drawn carriage. He offered you a hand as you stepped into the carriage, pulling the train of your dress in with you.

“Your majesty,” a servant girl spoke up in a soft tone, bowing to you, “with respect my Queen, but your attire- well, the King may not find it becoming of his Queen to adorn such a wardrobe. You could be mistaken for a-” she gulped, losing the air to speak.

“A villager?”

She nodded, bowing her head quickly thereafter.

You touched her hand, hating to see the fear burned into those serving you, “what the King does not know, will not hurt him.” You smiled warmly at her. The worry in her expression never eased, but she nodded stepping to the side as the guardsman climbed to sit at the top with the coachman. He slit his eyes at you, narrowing them in distaste as you showed him a toothy smile, relaxing your hands into your lap as your journey into town began.

[ANALYSIS] BTS ‘ON’

The start shows the remaining of a massacre. It’s the remaining of a war. The survivors are the ones appearing in the video including BTS. All of these events that will occur are symbolism of what occurred in BTS’ minds and lives for the last 7 years. It’s basically their mental state and struggles. It’s their journey towards success.

Generally, a dead body is a sign of depression. Remember that it is a body without life and can denote lack of motivation or loss of enthusiasm for a certain aspect of life. The video do not show a good memory but people who are tired, depressed, willing to leave it all and seem to have lost a big battle against themselves and the public.

Jin appears first looking at how even animals didn’t survive. The white pigeon is dead. It usually symbolizes peace, love and honor. But BTS at that time got none. It got slayed all.

Some people say when you find a dead bird the meaning is someone you loved passed away. Their past selves are dead and they will never be the same. This dead bird marks the end to their search and struggle. A new beginning is just around the corner. More specifically, it symbolizes the end of something and the start of something else.

We have next Jungkook running away from a prison. A prison represents feelings of confinement or restriction. You can’t do what you want or feel held back. You may feel forced to do something or to give up something. Feeling trapped in a situation you can’t get out of. Feeling repressed. “Don’t say this. Don’t do that. Don’t date. Don’t talk this way. Don’t look like this. Don’t and don’t and don’t”. Isn’t idols told more not to do than what to do? BTS have had enough, so they decide to run away from a public that is not forgiving and that will not be pleased no matter the price paid with their blood, sweat and tears.

Jimin is the third to appear and there are many drums behind him. Drums are symbols of the rhythm of life. Their beat can be equated to the beating of a heart. Since the heart is central to our survival, its beating indicates that we are alive and once it stops, we die. So many drums but no one is touching them. BTS’ life become dull. They are as good as dead. Just bodies movies like a puppet worked by strings.

Namjoon is standing in front of a boat with various animals. It’s the story of Noah. Noah was an obedient servant of God in the Old Testament who found favor with God amidst a sinful world. He is most well-known for building an ark that preserved himself and his family, as well as representatives of every land animal, from a great flood that God unleashed in judgement upon the earth. RM is the leader of BTS. It’s well known that he carried more burden than anyone from many years and a very young age. All for the goal to protect BTS against the sinful world that represents hate, prejudice, failure and more. But what at which price? They survived but their world is dead.

The sinful world is represented by how in that world BTS lived. Trees had no leaves and people had no compassion. If you fall, it’s so competitive they will feed of your flesh (The bird trying to eat Jungkook). Leafless tree with broken branches represents depression. And many members if not all were from sad to very depressed. Some didn’t just consider ending this career but their lives.

They say in the middle of agonies and ends there is still hope. Suga is in a religious place. Even if their world seems to be in an apocalyptic state and everyone’s clothes are torn. People here stand in unison holding candles and keeping fate. The people here might be the fans. The candles symbolize light in the darkness of life especially in an individual life. BTS always said taht ARMY were their smiles in days full of tears.

When BTS thought there was no hope left and there was no way they could survive this non-forgiving industry. A miracle occurred. At least that’s how it’s described here. The dove that was dead and that Jin brought back…moved. It’s alive. It survived. Or it was brought back to life. The prayers of the ones mentioned above (the hard work of the fans) made a change. The dove represents peace of the deepest kind. It soothes and quiets our worried or troubled thoughts, enabling us to find renewal in the silence of the mind. The dove’s roles as spirit messenger, maternal symbol and liaison impart an inner peace that helps us to go about our lives calmly and with purpose

The drums that were just kept there in piles started making sounds too. It might be faint because it was only one boy playing the drums. But that was enough to start a new life. Their dying hearts danced a new beat in hope for better days.

The girl who was not allowed to see. She wasn’t born blind but the piece of cloth made her so. She could have taken it off herself. But ignorance can make you blind and you will never see a human saying he is ignorant himself. Changing ideas and perspective ain’t easy. The girl is given back her sight by a BTS member V. It symbolizes how the boys bring to light many social issues and important subjects. It’s also the proof that they changed many people’s point of view about what a group of a small company can do, of what seven Asian guys from a small country can achieve and so on. It also can be portrayed by how Taehyung kept the girl blindfolded not looking at the atrocities of BTS’ world until it became safe. The girl is the young ARMY when the fandom wasn’t as big? Also, eyes are probably the most important symbolic sensory organ. They can represent clairvoyance, omniscience, and/or a gateway into the soul. Other qualities that eyes are commonly associated with are: intelligence, light, vigilance, moral conscience, and truth.

Something else happens in this scene, the huge wall opens up and becomes a door to a new horizon. People who were given back their sight will become key in changing the destiny of the boys. They are new allies.

The survivors will all come in front of the opened wall. It can be seen as how only very few idols and artists that debut make it in the show business industry. BTS are after all the only active group to this day that debuted in 2013 in Korea.

Jin frees the dove and it flies. Releasing a dove means peace. The war against themselves and everyone is finally over. They accepted their shadows and won people over.

Jungkook who was nowhere to be seen, is elsewhere blowing on a conch shell. Thorns that were on his wrists tying him up became this shell once submerged in water (Water symbolizes The most obvious are life, being born, purity, cleansing, or the washing away of sins). In the Mahabharata, Arjuna uses a conch shell to call his troops into battle. The shell is therefore associated with courage, power and sovereignty. According to mainstream Buddhism and Hinduism, the conch shell is also associated with truthful speech and strength.

The next scene will show a volcano eruption. This is an ancient Greek explanation of volcanic activity: a volcanic eruption represents the thwarted efforts of a divine being. The meaning of a volcano while it may indicate deep emotions coming out after being suppressed, volcanoes might also indicate an important new knowledge that is becoming clear, or developing profound new depths of self-awareness.

BTS are seen after these events in a gathering carrying the conch. This object is the most ancient musical instrument known to man. … In Buddhism the conch shell’s call is meant to awaken one from ignorance, and is a sign of victory over suffering. In Chinese Buddhism, the conch shell signifies a prosperous journey.

The earth (their world) that had nothing will start to change…

and trees will grow beyond the wall. It will become a paradise.

The survivors will stand in front of the wall looking but not moving. Just because there is an open door, doesn’t mean that people will walk through it. No one knows what is beyond there. And fear is a human vice and uncertainty is a whisperer to the mind. (Jungkook is amongst them now)

RM gives the signal to march towards this new land. He believes that outside the wall is somewhere that can be reached and life is better there.

But only 7 individuals get to go beyond that wall. They are teh chosen ones or may I say The brave ones. Because they believed in a dream where that new land will bring better life to them. That somehow that will make them reach a common dream.

Jungkook who seemed like a prisoner to this world. A slave in a prison with no light, is now smiling and moving forward. He is running again but this time, he is not running away. he is running towards a dream.

The video will end showing how BTS ere close to the peak of the mountain. But even that is no more the limit. Because the sky is vast and heavens might be nearer than many think.

The irony of how they started with a song called “No More Dream” that showed how this generation lost hope and stopped dreaming of achieving big things…

Just so they will be the chosen seven to reach incredible places all because of a one common dream. The video ends with the words “No more dream”. The “No more” fades and “Dream” is left. It’s their way of saying “We survived hell. There is a way out from the non ending darkness to heaven” or more simply, it’s their way of spreading hope and becoming an example to the people who believe in them.

If you research the meaning of the number seven, there is something endearing and harmonious about the vibration of the number 7, which is characteristic for someone feeling the urge to inspect the profoundness of some things in life. This is a perfectionist who is very exigent, someone with an inclination to analyze any situation and who sometimes may appear distant and hesitant. The goal behind the energy of number 7 is to encounter spiritual growth and enrich the lives of others with the results.
