"Grab" for your muse to grab mine's wrist, preventing them from leaving. -Styxx/Patya i love this
@myhiraeth
"You sick son of a bitch! Artemis should've let you stay as dead as Apollo left you! "
The audacity of the man that lead the Dark Hunters- that had trained him. The man he had come to trust who shared the achingly familiar face of his brother- the tiniest smallest comfort he took in joining the Hunters. Archeron, he had trusted with his life- Archeron whom he had been loyal and faithful and obedient. Like he had to another man, a better man whom he loved as much as any man could love a brother.
"i ask for sanctuary- please."
He remembered standing potentially in death's tent. He still remembered the sickeningly dank moisture of that night that chilled him to the bone. A child prince at fourteen, barely literate, who awaited the face of death whilst shaking more from the cold than in fear. He remembered the sight of the Stygian commander, the sharp figure and cold expression that strangely melted into something softer before outrage followed at the state of him. He remembered the warmth of Styxx's cloak around his shoulders, the hot bowl of food Galen pressed into his hands. He remembered hearing the discussions about him being a spy- that Cassius had recommended the safest course of action.
Execution.
Patya couldn't blame them. He knew the risks he posed- they didn't know the truth. How could they just take his word? He never blamed Galen for straddling the line of it nor Styxx when he had been brought out to the task. He remembered thinking 'gods, please let it be fast. let his sword be kind. i am so tired. i have no place here or with my own. let me be wanted in the next life.' and then saw Styxx hesitate in his stride looking at him then sheathed his xiphos and pardoned him.
Styxx saved his life.
Styxx gave him purpose, a role and a family. The Stygian Omada had embraced him and he counted Stefan and Cassius as friends and brothers quite soon after the pardon. And when Styxx died he felt his world fall apart entirely all over again. Like that young boy shaking in soaked clothes and terrified of life ahead of him.
Archeron had filled the gap....but no. Now he knew the truth. Archeron and that bitch whore Artemis had been the ones to create it. To cleave him from his brothers for thousands of years- to enslave him to a goddess that took it all away from him. Everything. His brother. His family. His future. He remembered his hopeful words to Styxx the first time his brother had encouraged him to speak up in strategos meetings with the other rulers.
"I'll make sure you learn, little brother." "Who knows maybe someday when you're king- I'll command the army." "Only if you learn to open your mouth when you're right."
The future he'd been denied- one of family. Of love. Of brothers. Of being an uncle to Styxx's children and to find his own love if he was so lucky. All of it was ripped from him with Styxx's seeming death and it was all thanks to Artemis and known to Archeron who never in the eleven thousands of years thought to tell him that Stephanos was alive. That Styxx hadn't been killed. That he had sold his soul for vengeance for his brother against the goddess he had bartered with. Condemned to darkness and a thirst for blood he so rarely sated. All for nothing and in service to them.
"You took everything away from me! EVERYTHING! My brothers! My life! My future! You and that bitch Artemis- I want both of your heads for this, but until that whining bitch gets here I'll settle for yours!" He didn't give a damn that Archeron was one of the best fighters amongst the Dark Hunters and at this point he didn't care if he died and spent the rest of whatever was the existence as a shade in misery. He wanted the man dead and he'd be damned if he didn't try.
A snarl tore through his throat as he lunged towards the Atlantean only to be yanked back by a familiar strong grip. Before that grip used to feel like iron around him when he was growing up, but now he was a Dark Hunter and one of the oldest of them and the only reason he didn't break his brother's grip was in respect.
"Let GO of me, Styxx!" Patya whirled around roared at his idol as rage darkened his eyes. " Eleven thousand, five hundred and thirty one years he robbed me of my brothers. Of you! Of Stephanos! Of the life we were to have! I want his life for it-! I want the pavement to be stained red with his blood for the next eleven thousand years! "

Patya: I just thought he needed to listen to “common sense” and “reasonable discourse.”
Styxx: Please tell me those aren’t the names of your fists.
Patya: My feet, actually. I’m more of a kicker.

❝ i don't know what it is about you, but, you just ... you're the only one who can make me feel like this. ❞ -steferci
@myhiraeth
"That's quite the coincidence... as you do the same to me." But Cerci had always done that to him.
She had a way of permeating through his skin and into his very being by just existing in his sight. He'd never forget the first time he laid eyes on her- how lush dark hair shone under the sunlight and dark eyes shimmered curiously as she looked at him. Self consciousness was something he never suffered from except in that one moment when he stood beside the Commander of the Stygian Omada, but he saw her eyes were set just on him. Never had he felt so free to speak to a woman- a goddess until that day.
She might as well have been a goddess in his eyes with the way the sweet scent of her skin lingered in his nose tormenting him for a taste of it. Surely only the gods could torture a human soul like that. The soft cultured lit of her voice might as well have been a siren's song as he'd have followed it anywhere blindly and done anything it asked. She certainly had the talents of the sorceress her name bore, but the soft gentle heart that said otherwise to keep the distinction. No one had ever worked a spell on him as Cerci had then and what she did now.
Now it was insatiably charming. The softness in her eyes, the hesitation and propriety- a flustered facade to hide the raptor sharp intelligence he knew laid behind it. He knew his wife. She may not remember it, but she would because he knew there was a crimson cord between them that wouldn't be cut by the fates themselves. He wouldn't let them. So he'd worked as he did all his missions- slowly, methodically and intentionally. The choice was hers, but he'd take every chance to nudge the seedling that was their past into full bloom within the garden of her thoughts. He knew that she was his and he was utterly completely hers. Some things just took time and he'd continue to meticulously tend to his wife till she either asked him to leave or remembered.
Yet if what she said was true then he knew that just maybe he'd have her in his arms again soon. To inhale the softness of her fragrance and feel the tender touch of fingertips that saw beyond the cold facade he left for others. To kiss her and take her and never leave her side again. He'd trade his soul to any other god again if it meant it'd keep her by his side.
"Perhaps its the ancient history, akribos. " His voice low and resonant as he leaned against the side of her desk where she sat just inches from him. " Perhaps its recognition, habibi. I've seen far stranger things in my life now than mere reincarnation...if you're inclined to believe me."

"Don't change the subject." The scotch burned sweetly in his throat as he looked to the recently revived greek prince. A face he never thought he'd see again now stood with him on a rooftop restaurant as they shared drinks and a view over the city. New York City never slept and it was a fantastic change of pace from Moscow and St. Petersburg- the bright lights here were as annoying as it was pleasant to pretend it was daylight.
Eyes looked to the other as a faint scowl crossed his features. " I will win over Cerci. I have always been skeptical of near everything, but not her. For her I'd believe in fate and true love and all the sappy ridiculous nonsense of other halves and soulmates. I will get my wife back- I'm not worried about that. She's the one thing and person I am absolutely assured of. I'll love her beyond death as I still have."
Another swig of scotch and a slight chuckle followed. "Present company excluded of course."
What was difficult now was seeing Styxx struggle with his own. What were the odds that both their wives would be reborn again and that they'd all find each other again. It was truly thanks to their women that they came together in some miraculous chance of life. If Rookheeya and Cerci hadn't been cataloguing the dusty back hidden statues they'd have never discovered Styxx or freed him and he wouldn't have felt the pull to come to New York. Wouldn't have discovered Styxx and Rookheeya and Cerci or Patya for that matter. Now it was like old times. Sharing drinks together and speaking of their hearts in the guardedly open way only they could express amongst each other.
"Why aren't you fighting for her?" It being unnecessary to say whom. There was only one woman in all of New York that Styxx couldn't take his eyes off. "She's your wife. She may not remember at the moment, but she will. Fight for her. Don't be a coward now- you've been given a second chance to live and love her again. Do it. She loves you too whether she admits it or not- I hear her heart racing around you. A love like that doesn't just go away like smoke in the wind."

Styxx: You are not leaving my side. Stephanos: Oh, so she IS the one who shot you? Styxx: …… yes Stephanos: Mmhmm, what are you more afraid of? Her arrow or Eros' arrow? Styxx, sweating: What? No! Don’t- they might hear you- what are you…… am I that obvious?? Stephanos: Aphrodite and Eros couldn't make you more in love if they tried. Rookheeya, riding up behind them : What are you two hens gossiping about? Are we or are we not on a hunt ? If you want to sit and chatter then you should've stayed home with Laleh and Cerci. Styxx: Matters of state, my lady. We’re quite focused, believe me. Stephanos, after she’s out of earshot: ”Matters of state”? Styxx: Technically, the state of my engagement and potential threats to it are matters of state if you think about it.

Styxx: Why do you two just come together like that!? Rookheeya took weeks to get comfortable with the idea of us the FIRST time. Stefan: Because Rookheeya is with all due respect hardheaded and my dear wife is a gentle soft hearted lamb. Styxx, snorting: I think you forget, adelphos, that I knew your wife. Stefan: So then you agREE in my assessment that she was the kindest and loveliest of all women. Styxx, smirking and pretending to shrug in agreement: Of course! As kind and lovely as Aphrodite herself. Stefan scowling: Hilarious. I do still remember you grumbling about Aphrodite, adelphos. Styxx: I grumbled about your wife a fair few times too. Stefan, staring at all 6'8 ft of Styxx: As so she did of you too. Something about the height of stupidity being incredibly tall. Stefan: Ah no, that was me who said that not her. Styxx, smiling : You know you were my least favoring soldier, right? Stefan, smirking: That is not what Galen told me. Styxx: Old man always was a liar.

"Nah, it'll heal over in a few hours."
The magic of being a Dark Hunter as it were. Fast healing so you could get back the next night to kill more Daimons and other creatures that went bump in the night in search of human souls. Deft fingers tugged his shirt back on, ignoring the aching muscles in his back with the movement though now at this point in his life it was a familiar feeling- like finding an old friend.
Sharp blue eyes fixated on the tall figure before him. A very old friend. A brother actually.
His heart, or whatever was left of it, clenched at the sharp features of his brother in everything but blood. It had destroyed him to the foundations of his core to see the broken body of his brother, lying slain on the palace floor by some unknown hand. The humble and mighty king, the fearless soldier and loving brother just stricken out of his life. The only tried and true family he ever knew was gone. And he raged and wept for him. For the life that was taken and the future that was theirs. Now here he was alive. Breathtakingly alive and whole and safe and he didn't know now even still whether to be just relieved or infuriated that this had happened to him. Frozen as a statue for over eleven thousand years and he knew whom was to blame.
It was just the fact that Stefan and now Styxx were here to keep him from calling down the cruel goddess, the fates and that damned motherfucker Archeron for what they had done to his family.
"I forgot what it was like to have worried big brother." Patya chuckled shaking his head. "I've been alone so long- its nice to matter again to someone who doesn't need me for my skills."

Grabs you by the arms
Did you know? Did you know Hector, with his handsome face and brow clutched his son? Did you know that he removed his great helm to press kisses to the boys crown? Did you know Hector told his lovely Andromache, go to your handmaidens and do your weaving, leave all men to their fate at the call of the war, me especially? Did you know she mourned him as he walked the great streets of troy for his fate was sung long ago, to die for the city he so loved? Did you know he gazed into the eyes of his foe, godlike Achilles, and asked only for his body to be returned to his high father Priam to be buried? Did you know he faced the best of the Greeks bravely even when he swore his skin would serve as feed for his dogs? Did you?? Did yo-
