tbh i believe james somerton when he says telos isn't a scam. i am utterly convinced he's just so bad at managing a business and handling a creative endeavour that it looks like a scam. though, i'd also agree that this is a distinction without a difference.

I think it's time thinkpiece writers acknowledge that art-labour and art-expression are fundamentally different. Repeatedly they claim that AI will not harm art, in which they really mean that AI will not harm art-expression, as a response to artists claiming that AI may harm art, in which they really mean AI may harm art-labour.
