sorry for the absence (again lol). my alevels start next month so i’ve kinda been busy with revision

this is kind of just a psa: i’ve added a link below the notes section of all my fics. it takes you to a website with a button for a daily click which in turn aids palestinians. it is 100% safe and 100% free. all proceeds go to a UN agency that provides aid for those in palestine

HEESEUNG 희승

the concert had been perfect - almost too perfect. usually at least one small thing went wrong, but this time every tiny detail had gone exactly to plan. the setlist was your favourite so far, and you weren’t feeling too tired from the choreo. your members were all doing well, and the staff were excited to see everything being executed perfectly. unfortunately, when the time came for you all to do your ments at the end of the concert, your mic began playing up. you blew it off despite a concerned look from jungwon and continued talking with the others. but, when it was time for you to say your piece, your mic cut out completely. you tried to fix it, tried to get it to work again, but to no avail. heeseung, ever the gentleman, immediately appeared by your side and offered you his mic. you smiled at him, and he smiled back with stars in his eyes.

JAY 제이

he could tell from the moment he saw your stage outfit that you hated it. your body language and your face said it all - the tiny skirt your stylist had put you in was making you extremely uncomfortable. it was so short he wondered how you’d even be able to dance in it. unfortunately, there wasn’t much he or the others could do; with only five minutes left till you went onstage, there was no one around that could help nor were there any other clothes you could change into. you decided to just deal with it, but jay could see from the way you kept fidgeting with your skirt before the performance started that you weren’t okay. your skirt continuously rode up during the performance, ultimately resulting in a scolding from your manager for ‘not dancing to your fullest.’ jay was beyond pissed, ranting to jungwon while you slept on his shoulder while driving home about how awful the stylists were and how you couldn’t have done any different in that situation. when you woke, he comforted you the best he could, promising while he held you that he’d never let them put you in something like that again.

JAKE 제이크

it took jake a long time to figure out why you kept worriedly glancing backstage. you’d spent most of your music show performance trying to get the attention of some staff but to no avail. jake kept looking at you before it finally hit him: your in-ears weren’t working. you couldn’t hear anything, resulting in you messing up your timing a little. your dancing, however, stayed perfect, and jake praised you for it as soon as you stepped off stage. when he saw the tears in your eyes, he wrapped you in a bear hug, telling you that it was just one small mistake and that it wasn’t your fault, it was the tech people that should have made sure everything was working. jake stuck by you for the rest of the day, making sure you were still okay and constantly reassuring you that what had happened wasn’t your fault.

SUNGHOON 성훈

your stupid, stupid manager had insisted to your stylist that you wear heels for every red carpet event, just to ensure you were a similar height to the boys. none of you understood it - you weren't short by any means, they were just freakishly tall. usually, they'd put you in a chunky heel or a platform, as requested by you so that you didn't trip or fall or embarrass yourself in front of all those cameras and people, but for some reason this time you'd been put in stilettos despite your insistence that something bad would happen, which it did. you'd taken the required photos and were walking out of the view of the cameras when something snapped and you tumbled into sunghoon, who'd been walking beside you. his arms wrapped around you immediately and, with a concerned look on his face, he'd begun asking you a million questions at once. you sighed, looking down at your feet and seeing that yes, your heel had indeed broken. sunghoon saw it too, and kneeled down to take both shoes off your feet. he walked with you to your manager, one arm still around you and eyes scanning the ground to ensure you didn't stand on anything sharp, wet, or sticky. you stood in silence, jaw practically on the floor at how gentlemanly he was being as he complained angrily (but quietly) to your manager about those stupid shoes and how the stylists had put you in danger.

SUNOO 선우

sunoo had warned basically all of the staff about how much it had rained that day and how likely it was that one of you would slip during the concert. of course, nothing was done, and he resorted to watching you all carefully to make sure none of you ended up hurt. for most of the concert, everything was fine. you were all happy, bouncing around and interacting with engenes where you could. you especially looked extremely excited to be there, having just come off a medical hiatus and finally being back on stage. despite how happy he was that you were back performing, sunoo couldn’t help the pit of worry in his stomach - you were dancing very close to a puddle and he was anxious that you’d slip. unfortunately, you did. the shoes you were wearing had almost no grip so, when you had to slide your foot forward in still monster, you slipped and fell forward into sunoo. he immediately turned around to make sure you were okay, helping you up and giving you concerned looks for the rest of the song. after seeing a little blood come from your nose he rushed you backstage, making a mental note to ask your manager to make sure the floor was clear next time.

JUNGWON 정원

once again, your stylists had put you in an uncomfortable outfit that barely fit with the rest of your group. after a previous fiasco, none of you were allowed to bargain with the stylists for better outfits (especially jungwon, who'd accidentally shouted at a stylist once before for giving you and ni-ki revealing outfits while still underage), so you decided to sit and suck it up. unfortunately, the choker your stylist had put on you was making you want to tear your throat out, especially onstage when you'd started dancing and singing. one fan had, adorably, asked if you were okay, to which you'd given a thumbs up and a weary smile. what you hadn't noticed was jungwon eyeing you from his position. he'd taken note of every time you thumbed at your choker, every time you'd taken a deep breath or swallowed particularly hard. he knew something was up, but he couldn't get to you until you left the stage. as soon as you did, however, he made a beeline for you and pulled you aside. you explained your issue, close to tears at the choking feeling around your neck, and he immediately reached behind you to tear off the choker, despite your protests that the stylists would get mad. "i don't care," he said, "i'd rather get scolded again than watch you go through that for another hour"

NI-KI 니키

it happened during a paired dance at an award show. ni-ki's outfit was sleek and perfectly form fitting, while you had for some reason been subjected to wearing revealing pants with a flowy mesh shirt haphazardly pinned to a safety shirt underneath. heeseung and jay had kicked off when they'd first seen your outfit, and ni-ki had gone straight to the stylists to beg for something different. the answer had been no. now, you were dancing alongside ni-ki as well as you could, slowly feeling your shirt come undone and fall away from you, along with whatever stupid accessories the stylists had put you in. you tried to dance through it, but the feeling of exposure was disturbing the usual focus you had while on stage. ni-ki turned around, and the two of you stopped moving as the stage and lighting changed. while shrouded in temporary darkness, he reached up to subtly fix your shirt. the two of you fiddled with it for a few seconds while the rest of the group came onstage with you, and he cupped your cheek quickly as you smiled at him to say thank you. after the performance, while you were telling your members what had happened, shouting could be heard from your dressing room. if anyone asked ni-ki what he'd said to your manager, or what the manager had said to the stylists, both of their mouths would stay shut.

When you were losing your mind, tears practically a smeared layer over your skin, Riki knew just how to pull you into his arms and hug back some light into your life. 

When you insisted nothing was ever enough, in a delirious, exhausted daze of numbness and emptiness, Riki would take your hands in his. A sad, warm flicker of understanding in his eyes. But he would never say anything; he’d never let out a single word. 

You could be so tired that colourful spirals would blur your vision. So utterly lost in your own little brain that you start to lose parts of yourself. You lose the ability to feel, to reach out and grab your emotions like they’re tangible objects you can manoeuvre with your bare hands. 

Then, Riki would reach out and sweep you into an embrace that solely aims to comfort. With a hug so tight you forget why your head is even spinning anymore. A soft kiss would caress your temple and prevent you from slipping further into crazed oblivion. 

It’s no different this time, as a blank stare graces your face and you mindlessly drop your bag onto the floor. And then collapse right beside it. The tears you’ve been holding back are finally given permission to break free. Riki, who immediately looked up in excitement the moment you got home, dropped everything and came to your side. 

You can’t take it anymore. Your hands shake and you think you’re explaining what’s happened to your boyfriend, but you’re probably just spewing incomprehensible gibberish. Your whole face feels so repulsive and so soaked as he brings your head close to his chest. His lips are moving along your ear, and you can’t tell whether he’s saying anything or not. 

When you finally come down, breaths so heavy they seem to search for no answer, Riki angles your head towards him. The way so much emotion seeps into his gaze should make you dissolve into even more tears. But you just hold his stare, seeking a validation you can’t explain in words. With a helplessness that is so intense you can’t describe it. 

It’s not working. Nothing is. An inky blotch of pain forms in your chest. Riki isn’t helping anymore, and without his help, you’re nothing. You’re absolutely useless. 

Feeling translucent like a ghost, hazy and penetrable but still oh, so alive, you can sense the energy draining from your body. Slumping over Riki’s shoulder, you try and fail to catch your breath. How could you do this to yourself? Just a while back you promised yourself that you would heal. You wouldn’t fall into the demon’s trap again, you wouldn’t plummet into the depths of your struggles. Most importantly, you wouldn’t burden Riki to take care of you instead of you managing yourself. 

You know he, too, has been through a lot. So much more than he would ever dare to admit. But the moment you saw him curl into himself, in an almost foetal position, in the middle of the dance studio… it’s enough for your own heart to break on his behalf.

His voice faltering as he mutters, “It’s never good enough…” 

It’s a memory you would never want to relive. It’s a reminder that replays like a beloved childhood movie, over and over again, every single time your body dares to succumb to the numbness. How dare you. How dare you feel this kind of hurt when Riki has been through so much more than you have? Your vision blurs over once more like you’re cross-eyed. 

“You’re enough,” Riki whispers, scooting away so you can look at him directly. Genuity lies in his gaze. It gives you a flicker of hope. A flame that hopefully will eventually start to spread. “You’re always enough.” 

It sounds like he’s saying it from experience, and it pains you even more at the thought. 

But you slowly feel yourself coming back to earth. Coming back into his arms. Nishimura Riki’s arms. He repeats it like a spell, like an incantation he has to recite for you to get it in your head. “You’re good enough for me.” 

Surprisingly, after he drops a kiss to your neck and rests his head on your shoulder, you can feel wet patches starting to dot your clothes. Riki, your precious boy, who you’d give the world for, and vice versa. 

He will never know how many times he’s saved you from the utter brink of death.

HEESEUNG 희승

stays completely still. as much as he likes to try and present as a really confident and flirty man, he's such a loser at heart and has no idea what to do in this situation. when you fall asleep in his lap, he doesn't know what to do. should he move you to his bed so you can sleep comfortably? should he wake up up? you're going to hurt your neck by sleeping like that. in the end, he settles on leaving you where you are and sitting as still as a statue to hopefully let you sleep for as long as you can.

JAY 제이

moves you to his bed, lays with you, and holds you. you've mentioned to him before that you've had some trouble sleeping, so when he looks at you to find you dead to the world on his shoulder, he feels honoured. the last time he fell asleep on you he woke up with a stiff neck and was complaining about it for the rest of the day, so he doesn't want the same to happen to you. when you wake up, he'll have a long talk with you about the importance of sleep and whether there's anything he can do to help you, but for now, he's happy to just hold you.

JAKE 제이크

wakes you up. twice before he's gotten too excited that you trust him enough to fall asleep on him and has accidentally woken you up, but this time he does it on purpose. his voice is soft and his hands are gentle as they wake you, and he tells you that you can't fall asleep now, or you won't sleep tonight. when you tell him that he's comfy and you want to cuddle, he'll move you to the couch and hug you while watching a movie. and, if you end up falling asleep entangled in each other, no-one has to know.

SUNGHOON 성훈

wraps his arms around you. you'd come over to the dorms complaining to sunoo about how you had such a long, hard day at work, and he directed you straight to sunghoon. the two of you sit watching a drama together with a couple of the others, before you fell asleep on his shoulder. initially, he tries to wake you up, but you're dead to the world. he'll eventually wrap his arms around you and smile as you mumble a little and try to move even closer to him, ignoring the teasing of the members.

SUNOO 선우

changes positions so you can be more comfortable. he knows how hard sleep can be to come across as an idol, so when you fall asleep on his shoulder in enhypen's green room, face shoved into the crook of his neck much to the disdain of his stylist, he moves. as carefully as he can, he shuffles to lay down on the couch and pulls you with him. there, the two of you nap together until one of your groups has to go onstage, or until one of your leaders comes looking for you. when the stylists ask why your makeup is smudged or why sunoo has glitter on his collar, neither of you speak up.

JUNGWON 정원

cries a little. it had been a long, hard day, with lots of arguing with staff and management about an upcoming mini album that the company wanted pushed forward. jungwon was tired from practice and a little sore, so when he felt your body relax as you fell asleep in his lap, he started tearing up. his heart softens and he strokes his hand through your hair, taking in the peaceful stillness of the moment before he has to get back to his chaotic lifestyle. when you wake up and see that he's cried, you hold him, and he cries just a little more.

NI-KI 니키

freezes and flushes. ni-ki has almost no experience with girls, what with being an idol and all, so when his first girlfriend falls asleep while sat in his lap he doesn't know what to do. he calls over jake in a whisper-shout, who just laughs at him and takes some pictures. he looks down at you, at your relaxed face, and decides that he, too, needs a nap. he wraps his arms around you, rests his head on top of yours, and is out like a light. when the members all come to see the state their youngest is in, they practically melt at what meets their eyes
