A graduate of the University of Idaho, Nichole Thiel holds a bachelor’s in education and a master’s in administration. Over the past 15 years, she has managed significant budgets, evaluated personnel, and implemented emergency preparedness plans for diverse educational institutions. Certified in elementary and secondary education, Nichole Thiel also holds qualifications as a career technical education (CTE) administrator.
Most recently, Nichole Thiel served as assistant principal and athletic director at a well-regarded charter school in Idaho. In this position, she built upon nearly 15 years of experience as a teacher in the Lakeland Central School District, a CTE teacher with Lake City High School, and a professor and assistant to the dean at the University of Idaho. A former Fulbright-Hays Scholar, Ms. Thiel gained additional training through the Idaho Leadership Institute and attended multiple leadership development conferences and national policy seminars in Washington, DC.
Ms. Thiel has stepped away from her education career to serve as a caregiver for her mother, who has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. In her full-time caregiving role, she draws upon training as a certified provider of dementia care.

Advantages of Participating in Distinguished Young Woman
Coeur d’Alene Nichole Thiel has spent her life caring for others in her career in education and as a caregiver before her recent position with the US postal office. Previously, Nichole Thiel participated in what was then the Junior Miss but is now the Distinguished Young Woman (DYW) Pageant.
Not the average beauty pageant, DYW has real-world advantages for women who participate much less win. As a pageant contestant, the women learn to communicate effectively. Performing on stage and having to communicate with the audience provides the young woman with experience in public speaking. Moreover, it helps them speak articulately, whether before a crowd or not.
Outside of participating in the pageant itself, participants get to meet some fascinating people. Many people are introduced to politicians and other notables while competing, especially women of influence. Moreover, it provides them with the chance to learn how to network while providing them with life-long friends. They also learn how to become effective leaders and become confident in taking initiatives to win.

Seattle Seahawks Take the Long Road Back From a Hard Super Bowl Loss
Fulbright scholar Nichole Thiel has served in higher and secondary education. During the pro football season, Nichole Thiel pulls for the Seattle Seahawks.
After their first Super Bowl appearance (a loss in 2005), the Seahawks overwhelmed the Denver Broncos to win the National Football League title in 2013. However, their return to the Superbowl in 2014 resulted in a tough loss because of an untimely interception by the New England Patriots.
The defeat cast a shadow over the team’s spirit, despite winning records. However, morale rebounded in 2018, thanks in part to head coach Pete Carroll’s return to the club’s unglamorous but effective combination of a running offense and a strong defense.
Also lifting the gloom have been the presence of Super Bowl stalwarts, such as Russell Wilson, Justin Britt, and K. J. Wright, who mentor the newcomers. To boost his own spirits, veteran Bobby Wagner draws inspiration from LeBron James, still excellent after 16 seasons. Wagner encourages the young players to enjoy themselves without comparisons to past heroes.
The new looseness paid off. The Seahawks ended the season by accumulating 10+ wins for the sixth time in seven years, placing second in the National Football Conference West division.
