Left: A weakling that’s really good at hiding and looking unappetizing.
Right: A big hulking tower of muscle that can’t move to save its life.
And technically the two are the same species.

what an impressive creature.
Daronu King - the one to be reborn with the horns of the Ancients, and the tribe thrived in his time, prosperous and large.

Currently steeped in the incredible world of Pacific Northwest tidal zone animals. Our kelp forests have long been an interest of mine so to finally have/take the opportunity to celebrate the textures, details and diversity ~ oh deep breaths, I pray I do them justice!
🙏
This is a photo of a beautiful white feathery Plumose Anemone taken @calacademy. (My current WIP will also feature Ochre Star, Common Sun Star, Barnacles, Crabs, Gunnel, Pacific Spiney lumpsuckers, Decorated War Bonnett, Rockfish, etc. Oomph! I have my work cut out!)

Just another lil painting of a Kingfisher on maple wood. Kingfishers are amazing! But … so are frogmouths, owls, hummingbirds, egrets, buffleheads, kookaburras, creepers, nightjars, sparrows, etc, etc. I’ve always found the most difficult thing about starting a painting is deciding WHAT to paint. There are SO many incredible life forms worth investigating and never enough time!

Oh god this is the saddest thing. This one was born blind, meaning with game mechanics it can only move within a sighted tribe member’s view. It was looked after by its mother. That’s her skeleton… This poor thing is now stuck here, unable to even pluck berries from the adjacent bush…

it’s beautiful!
Midnight Lovers (Khniglo the melanistic spit-snout and Miinara the purple eyed beauty)
And somehow I didn’t notice they shared an immunity gene until their forth child, and even if the risk was great, in the Ariaji tribe, they were basically the only pair producing females so… I had to keep breeding them…

Aah, the last of the tribe, we have to find a mate!
…
You know, maybe our tribe just wasn’t meant to survive…
