GÂY QUỸ CỘNG ĐỒNG - CƠ HỘI CHO HÌNH THỨC TỰ XUẤT BẢN?

Gây quỹ cộng đồng (Crowdfunding) đã mở ra một hướng xuất bản hiệu quả cho các tác giả, đồng thời giúp độc giả có thể tiếp cận được với các tác phẩm mà họ yêu thích.

Gây quỹ cộng đồng có thể hiểu đơn giản là kêu gọi sự ủng hộ từ cộng đồng để những tác phẩm nghệ thuật không thể kêu gọi nguồn vốn truyền thống vẫn có thể được xuất bản và đến với tầm tay độc giả. Các độc giả sẽ nhận được tác phẩm dưới hình thức bản thảo, và họ cũng chính là những nhà tài trợ để tác phẩm có thể được in ấn và xuất bản.

Với hình thức gây quỹ cộng đồng, người khởi xướng sẽ đăng dự án sáng tạo của mình lên một nền tảng hỗ trợ gọi vốn, thường là các trang web (KickStarter, IndieGoGo, GoFundMe, …), để kêu gọi mọi người ủng hộ. Những độc giả có hứng thú với tác phẩm sẽ đóng góp một khoản tiền nhất định thông qua nền tảng. Đổi lại, họ sẽ nhận được những phần quà tương xứng với mức tiền họ quyên góp. Ví dụ như chiến dịch gây quỹ xuất bản cho cuốn sách “Họa Sắc Việt” của tác giả Trịnh Thu Trang trên trang gây quỹ cộng đồng cho các dự án nghệ thuật Comicola, người ủng hộ theo các mức 500.000, 800.000, 1.500.000 và 4.000.000 sẽ nhận được các gói quà khác nhau bao gồm tác phẩm được in hoàn chỉnh và một số món quà khác.

Gây quỹ cộng đồng trong lĩnh vực xuất bản khởi điểm từ đâu?

Trước năm 2014, các Nhà xuất bản không mấy mặn mà đầu tư cho các tác phẩm Việt, đặc biệt là truyện tranh Việt, bởi vậy việc được xuất bản dựa trên nguồn vốn truyền thống đối với các tác phẩm này là vô cùng khó khăn.  Câu chuyện về gây quỹ cộng đồng bắt đầu phổ biến tại Việt Nam kể từ đây, khi nhóm Phong Dương Comics kêu gọi cộng đồng góp vốn xuất bản bộ truyện tranh lịch sử Long thần tướng vào năm 2014. Dự án đã có sự thành công đột phá, tập 1 "Long Thần Tướng" đã được tái bản 2 lần chỉ sau 20 ngày, số lượng tái bản lên đến hàng nghìn. Số tiền ủng hộ cao nhất trong 1 ngày của tác phẩm lên tới 35 triệu đồng, tổng số tiền thực thu đạt tới 330,5 triệu đồng chỉ trong 2 tháng gây quỹ. Từ đây, gây quỹ cộng đồng trong lĩnh vực xuất bản bắt đầu phổ biến hơn tại Việt Nam và được nhiều tác giả ưa chuộng. 

Tác phẩm "Long Thần Tướng"

Trong những năm gần đầy, một số tác phẩm nổi bật được xuất bản dưới hình thức gây quỹ cộng đồng có thể kể đến như “Dệt nên triều đại” của nhóm tác giả Vietnam Centre, “Sổ tay giáo dục gia đình” của tác giả Đinh Việt Hải, “Mật ngọt chết mèo” của tác giả Ngọc Minh Trang Đặng, “Truyện cực ngắn” của tác giả Đào Quang Huy, “Sài Gòn phố” của nhóm tác giả Next Step, … 

Có nên lựa chọn phương thức này?

Lựa chọn hình thức gây quỹ cộng đồng trong lĩnh vực xuất bản có nhiều ưu điểm. Thứ nhất, các tác giả thường chỉ chuyên tâm vào việc sáng tác, ít hiểu rõ về các quy trình liên hệ và làm việc với các nhà xuất bản truyền thống, bởi vậy việc gây quỹ cộng đồng để tự xuất bản tác phẩm của mình sẽ giúp họ có thể chủ động hơn trong các khâu, ví dụ như lựa chọn số lượng bản in hay chất liệu, quyết định giá bán cho cuốn sách. Bên cạnh đó, trên thị trường có nhiều những tác phẩm hay nhưng khá kén người đọc, khó được các nhà xuất bản truyền thống lựa chọn do họ không tìm thấy tiềm năng ở những tác phẩm này, vì thế hình thức gây quỹ cộng đồng sẽ là một lựa chọn hiệu quả để các tác giả có thể tự xuất bản sản phẩm của mình dựa trên số tiền quyên góp từ những độc giả thực sự quan tâm tới tác phẩm. 

Tuy nhiên không phải dự án gây quỹ cộng đồng trong lĩnh vực xuất bản cũng thành công, có những dự án gây quỹ cho tác phẩm chỉ đạt được mức 10%-50% mục tiêu đề ra. Theo anh Nguyễn Khánh Dương, một trong những tác giả thực hiện bộ truyện "Long Thần Tướng", sự thành công của một dự án gây quỹ cộng đồng sẽ phụ thuộc tới 50% vào sự nổi tiếng và độ uy tín của tác giả, 30% vào sự chuẩn bị kỹ lưỡng cho dự án và 20% vào hệ thống thực hiện ổn định và kiểm soát các vấn đề liên quan. Để vận hành một dự án gây quỹ cộng đồng như vậy cần rất nhiều yếu tố, bởi vậy có rất nhiều tác giả chùn chân trước hình thức này. 

Tuy vậy, tự xuất bản vẫn trở thành một phương pháp hấp dẫn đối với nhiều tác giả. Và dù có thành công hay thất bại trong một dự án gây quỹ cộng đồng, các tác giả vẫn có được cơ hội kiểm định được sự quan tâm của công chúng đối với "đứa con tinh thần" của họ, và đó cũng là một kênh hiệu quả để quảng bá rộng rãi các tác phẩm, bao gồm cả sách giấy và sách điện tử trong bối cảnh phát triển nhanh chóng của công nghệ số ngày nay. Phương thức gây quỹ cộng đồng đã, đang và sẽ đóng một vai trò quan trọng trong hệ sinh thái xuất bản tương lai.

GSCE -  General Certificate of Secondary Education is a two-year programme in a specific subject taken by school students in UK. IELTS -  International English Language Testing System is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers.

TOEFL - Test Of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in American universities. Though, it is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions.

ACT - American College Testing is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in USA. 

SAT -  Scholastic Assessment Test  is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in USA.

EDUCATION STAGES/ DEGREES:

Major - is the academic discipline to which an undergraduate student formally commits in USA and Canada. A student who successfully completes the courses prescribed in an academic major qualifies for an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree.

Double major -  a student who declares two academic majors is said to have a double major.

Undergrad student - a student taking up undergraduate education.  

Undergraduate education - is a level of education between secondary education and a master’s degree. When a student completes an undergraduate education they get a Bachelor’s degree.

Grad student - a student taking up graduate or postgraduate education.

Graduate education - is a level of education taken up after getting a Bachelor’s degree. When a student complete a graduate education they either get a Master’s or Doctorate degrees.
