1 Sintemal sich's viele unterwunden haben, Bericht zu geben von den Geschichten, so unter uns ergangen sind,
2 wie uns das gegeben haben, die es von Anfang selbst gesehen und Diener des Worts gewesen sind:
3 habe ich's auch für gut angesehen, nachdem ich's alles von Anbeginn mit Fleiß erkundet habe, daß ich's dir, mein guter Theophilus, in Ordnung schriebe,
4 auf das du gewissen Grund erfahrest der Lehre, in welcher du unterrichtet bist. Die Ankündigung der Geburt Johannes des Täufers
5 Zu der Zeit des Herodes, des Königs von Judäa, war ein Priester von der Ordnung Abia, mit Namen Zacharias, und sein Weib war von den Töchtern Aarons, welche hieß Elisabeth.
6 Sie waren aber alle beide fromm vor Gott und wandelten in allen Geboten und Satzungen des HERRN untadelig.
7 Und sie hatten kein Kind; denn Elisabeth war unfruchtbar, und waren beide wohl betagt.
8 Und es begab sich, da er des Priesteramtes pflegte vor Gott zur Zeit seiner Ordnung,
9 nach Gewohnheit des Priestertums, und an ihm war, daß er räuchern sollte, ging er in den Tempel des HERRN.
10 Und die ganze Menge des Volks war draußen und betete unter der Stunde des Räucherns.
11 Es erschien ihm aber der Engel des HERRN und stand zur rechten Hand am Räucheraltar.
12 Und als Zacharias ihn sah, erschrak er, und es kam ihn eine Furcht an.
13 Aber der Engel sprach zu ihm: Fürchte dich nicht, Zacharias! denn dein Gebet ist erhört, und dein Weib Elisabeth wird dir einen Sohn gebären, des Namen sollst du Johannes heißen.
14 Und du wirst des Freude und Wonne haben, und viele werden sich seiner Geburt freuen.
15 Denn er wird groß sein vor dem HERRN; Wein und starkes Getränk wird er nicht trinken und wird noch im Mutterleibe erfüllt werden mit dem heiligen Geist.
16 Und er wird der Kinder Israel viele zu Gott, ihrem HERRN, bekehren.
17 Und er wird vor ihm her gehen im Geist und Kraft des Elia, zu bekehren die Herzen der Väter zu den Kindern und die Ungläubigen zu der Klugheit der Gerechten, zuzurichten dem HERRN ein bereitet Volk.
18 Und Zacharias sprach zu dem Engel: Wobei soll ich das erkennen? Denn ich bin alt und mein Weib ist betagt. Lukas 1:1-18 (Lutherbibel, 1912)

1 Forasmuch as many haue taken in hande to set foorth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely beleeued among vs,
2 Euen as they deliuered them vnto vs, which from the beginning were eye-witnesses, & ministers of the word:
3 It seemed good to me also, hauing had perfect vnderstanding of things from the very first, to write vnto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
4 That thou mightest know the certainetie of those things wherein thou hast bene instructed.
5 There was in the dayes of Herode the king of Iudea, a certaine Priest, named Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the Commandements and ordinances of the Lord, blamelesse.
7 And they had no childe, because that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well striken in yeeres.
8 And it came to passe, that while he executed the Priests office before God in the order of his course,
9 According to the custome of the Priests office, his lot was to burne incense when he went into the Temple of the Lord.
10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the time of incense.
11 And there appeared vnto him an Angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the Altar of incense.
12 And when Zacharias sawe him, hee was troubled, and feare fell vpon him.
13 But the Angel said vnto him, Feare not, Zacharias, for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall beare thee a sonne, and thou shalt call his name Iohn.
14 And thou shalt haue ioy and gladnesse, and many shall reioyce at his birth:
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shal drinke neither wine, nor strong drinke, and he shall bee filled with the holy Ghost, euen from his mothers wombe.
16 And many of the children of Israel shall hee turne to the Lord their God.
17 And hee shall goe before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turne the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisedome of the iust, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

1 Dies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes,
2 wie geschrieben steht in den Propheten: "Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, der da bereite deinen Weg vor dir."
3 Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des HERRN, macht seine Steige richtig!
4 Johannes, der war in der Wüste, taufte und predigte von der Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.
5 Und es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und die von Jerusalem und ließen sich alle von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.
6 Johannes aber war bekleidet mit Kamelhaaren und mit einem ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden, und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig;
7 und er predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker denn ich, dem ich nicht genugsam bin, daß ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe auflöse.
8 Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.
9 Und es begab sich zu der Zeit, daß Jesus aus Galiläa von Nazareth kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.
10 Und alsbald stieg er aus dem Wasser und sah, daß sich der Himmel auftat, und den Geist gleich wie eine Taube herabkommen auf ihn.
11 Und da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe.
12 Und alsbald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste,
13 und er war allda in der Wüste Tage und ward versucht von dem Satan und war bei den Tieren, und die Engel dienten ihm.
14 Nachdem aber Johannes überantwortet war, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes
15 und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllet, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeigekommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!
16 Da er aber am Galiläischen Meer ging, sah er Simon und Andreas, seinen Bruder, daß sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
17 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folget mir nach; ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen!
18 Alsobald verließen sie ihre Netze und folgten ihm nach.
19 Und da er von da ein wenig weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, daß sie die Netze im Schiff flickten; und alsbald rief er sie. Markus 1:1-19 (Lutherbibel, 1912)

1. The beginning of the Gospel of Iesus Christ, the Sonne of God,
2 As it is written in the Prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3 The voice of one crying in the wildernesse, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 Iohn did baptize in the wildernesse, and preach the baptisme of repentance, for the remission of sinnes.
5 And there went out vnto him all the land of Iudea, and they of Ierusalem, and were all baptized of him in the riuer of Iordane, cōfessing their sinnes.
6 And Iohn was clothed with camels haire, and with a girdle of a skin about his loines: and he did eat locusts and wilde honie,
7 And preached, saying, There commeth one mightier then I after me, the latchet of whose shooes I am not worthy to stoupe downe, and vnloose.
8 I indeed haue baptized you with water: but hee shall baptize you with the holy Ghost.
9 And it came to passe in those daies, that Iesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of Iohn in Iordane.
10 And straightway comming vp out of the water, hee saw the heauens opened, and the Spirit like a doue descending vpon him.
11 And there came a voice from heauen, saying, Thou art my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the Spirit driueth him into the wildernesse.
13 And he was there in the wildernesse fourtie daies tempted of Satan, and was with the wildbeasts, and the Angels ministred vnto him.
14 Now after that Iohn was put in prison, Iesus came into Galilee, preaching the Gospell of the kingdome of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdome of God is at hand: repent ye, and beleeue the Gospell.
16 Now as he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the Sea (for they were fishers.)
17 And Iesus said vnto them, Come ye after me; and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18 And straightway they forsooke their nets, and followed him.

1 Und die Schlange war listiger denn alle Tiere auf dem Felde, die Gott der Herr gemacht hatte, und sprach zu dem Weibe: Ja, sollte Gott gesagt haben: Ihr sollt nicht essen von allerlei Bäumen im Garten?
2 Da sprach das Weib zu der Schlange: Wir essen von den Früchten der Bäume im Garten;
3 aber von den Früchten des Baumes mitten im Garten hat Gott gesagt: Esset nicht davon, rühret’s auch nicht an, daß ihr nicht sterbet.
4 Da sprach die Schlange zum Weibe: Ihr werdet mitnichten des Todes sterben;
5 sondern Gott weiß, daß, welches Tages ihr davon esset, so werden eure Augen aufgetan, und werdet sein wie Gott und wissen, was gut und böse ist.
6 Und das Weib schaute an, daß von dem Baum gut zu essen wäre und daß er lieblich anzusehen und ein lustiger Baum wäre, weil er klug machte; und sie nahm von der Frucht und aß und gab ihrem Mann auch davon, und er aß.
7 Da wurden ihrer beider Augen aufgetan, und sie wurden gewahr, daß sie nackt waren, und flochten Feigenblätter zusammen und machten sich Schürze.
8 Und sie hörten die Stimme Gottes des Herrn, der im Garten ging, da der Tag kühl geworden war. Und Adam versteckte sich mit seinem Weibe vor dem Angesicht Gottes des Herrn unter die Bäume im Garten.
9 Und Gott der Herr rief Adam und sprach zu ihm: Wo bist du?
10 Und er sprach: Ich hörte deine Stimme im Garten und fürchtete mich; denn ich bin nackt, darum versteckte ich mich.
11 Und er sprach: Wer hat dir’s gesagt, daß du nackt bist? Hast du nicht gegessen von dem Baum, davon ich dir gebot, du solltest nicht davon essen?
12 Da sprach Adam: Das Weib, das du mir zugesellt hast, gab mir von dem Baum, und ich aß.
13 Da sprach Gott der Herr zum Weibe: Warum hast du das getan? Das Weib sprach: Die Schlange betrog mich also, daß ich aß.
14 Da sprach Gott der Herr zu der Schlange: Weil du solches getan hast, seist du verflucht vor allem Vieh und vor allen Tieren auf dem Felde. Auf deinem Bauche sollst du gehen und
Erde essen dein Leben lang
15 Und ich will Feindschaft setzen zwischen dir und dem Weibe und zwischen deinem Samen und ihrem Samen. Derselbe soll dir den Kopf zertreten, und du wirst ihn in die Ferse stechen.
16 Und zum Weibe sprach er: Ich will dir viel Schmerzen schaffen, wenn du schwanger wirst; du sollst mit Schmerzen Kinder gebären; und dein Verlangen soll nach deinem Manne sein, und er soll dein Herr sein.
17 Und zu Adam sprach er: Dieweil du hast gehorcht der Stimme deines Weibes und gegessen von dem Baum, davon ich dir gebot und sprach: Du sollst nicht davon essen, – verflucht sei der Acker um deinetwillen, mit Kummer sollst du dich darauf nähren dein Leben lang.
18 Dornen und Disteln soll er dir tragen, und sollst das Kraut auf dem Felde essen.
19 Im Schweiße deines Angesichts sollst du dein Brot essen, bis daß du wieder zu Erde werdest, davon du genommen bist.Denn du bist Erde und sollst zu Erde werden..
20 Und Adam hieß sein Weib Eva, darum daß sie eine Mutter ist aller Lebendigen.
21 Und Gott der Herr machte Adam und seinem Weibe Röcke von Fellen und kleidete sie.
22 Und Gott der Herr sprach: Siehe, Adam ist geworden wie unsereiner und weiß, was gut und böse ist. Nun aber, daß er nicht ausstrecke seine Hand und breche auch von dem Baum des Lebens und esse und lebe ewiglich!
23 Da wies ihn Gott der Herr aus dem Garten Eden, daß er das Feld baute, davon er genommen ist,
24 und trieb Adam aus und lagerte vor den Garten Eden die

1 Now the serpent was more subtill then any beast of the field, which the LORD God had made, and he said vnto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of euery tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said vnto the serpent, Wee may eate of the fruite of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree, which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shal not eate of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the Serpent said vnto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.
5 For God doeth know, that in the day ye eate thereof, then your eyes shalbee opened: and yee shall bee as Gods, knowing good and euill.
6 And when the woman saw, that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she tooke of the fruit thereof, and did eate, and gaue also vnto her husband with her, and hee did eate.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, & they knew that they were naked, and they sewed figge leaues together, and made themselues aprons.
8 And they heard the voyce of the LORD God, walking in the garden in the coole of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselues from the presence of the LORD God, amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called vnto Adam, and said vnto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden: and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid my selfe.
11 And he said, Who told thee, that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee, that thou shouldest not eate?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gauest to be with mee, shee gaue me of the tree, and I did eate.
13 And the LORD God said vnto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The Serpent beguiled me, and I did eate.
14 And the LORD God said vnto the Serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed aboue all cattel, and aboue euery beast of the field: vpon thy belly shalt thou goe, and dust shalt thou eate, all the dayes of thy life.
15 And I will put enmitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seed and her seed: it shal bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorowe and thy conception. In sorow thou shalt bring forth children: and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and hee shall rule ouer thee.
17 And vnto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened vnto the voyce of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commaunded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eate of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake: in sorow shalt thou eate of it all the dayes of thy life.
18 Thornes also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee: and thou shalt eate the herbe of the field.
19 In the sweate of thy face shalt thou eate bread, till thou returne vnto the ground: for out of it wast thou taken, for dust thou art, and vnto dust shalt thou returne.
20 And Adam called his wiues name Eue, because she was the mother of all liuing.
21 Unto Adam also, and to his wife, did the LORD God make coates of skinnes, and cloathed them.
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of vs, to know good & euill. And now lest hee put foorth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eate and liue for euer:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him foorth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground, from whence he was taken.
24 So he droue out the man: and he placed at the East of the garden of Eden, Cherubims, and a flaming sword, which turned euery way, to keepe the way of the tree of life. Genesis 3:1-24 (King James Version (KJV) 1611)

1 Also ward vollendet Himmel und Erde mit ihrem ganzen Heer.
2 Und also vollendete Gott am siebenten Tage seine Werke, die er machte, und ruhte am siebenten Tage von allen seinen Werken, die er machte.
3 Und Gott segnete den siebenten Tag und heiligte ihn, darum daß er an demselben geruht hatte von allen seinen Werken, die Gott schuf und machte.
4 Also ist Himmel und Erde geworden, da sie geschaffen sind, zu der Zeit, da Gott der Herr Erde und Himmel machte.
5 Und allerlei Bäume auf dem Felde waren noch nicht auf Erden, und allerlei Kraut auf dem Felde war noch nicht gewachsen; denn Gott der Herr hatte noch nicht regnen lassen auf Erden, und es war kein Mensch, der das Land baute.
6 Aber ein Nebel ging auf von der Erde und feuchtete alles Land. 7Und Gott der Herr machte den Menschen aus einem Erdenkloß, und er blies ihm ein den lebendigen Odem in seine Nase. Und also ward der Mensch eine lebendige Seele.
8 Und Gott der Herr pflanzte einen Garten in Eden gegen Morgen und setzte den Menschen hinein, den er gemacht hatte.
9 Und Gott der Herr ließ aufwachsen aus der Erde allerlei Bäume, lustig anzusehen und gut zu essen, und den Baum des Lebens mitten im Garten und den Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und Bösen.
10 Und es ging aus von Eden ein Strom, zu wässern den Garten, und teilte sich von da in vier Hauptwasser.
11 Das erste heißt Pison, das fließt um das ganze Land Hevila; und daselbst findet man Gold.
12 Und das Gold des Landes ist köstlich; und da findet man Bedellion und den Edelstein Onyx.
13 Das andere Wasser heißt Gihon, das fließt um das ganze Mohrenland.
14 Das dritte Wasser heißt Hiddekel, das fließt vor Assyrien. Das vierte Wasser ist der Euphrat.
15 Und Gott der Herr nahm den Menschen und setzte ihn in den Garten Eden, daß er ihn baute und bewahrte.
16 Und Gott der Herr gebot dem Menschen und sprach: Du sollst essen von allerlei Bäumen im Garten;
17 aber von dem Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und Bösen sollst du nicht essen; denn welches Tages du davon issest, wirst du des Todes sterben.
18 Und Gott der Herr sprach: Es ist nicht gut, daß der Mensch allein sei; ich will ihm eine Gehilfin machen, die um ihn sei.
19 Denn als Gott der Herr gemacht hatte von der Erde allerlei Tiere auf dem Felde und allerlei Vögel unter dem Himmel, brachte er sie zu dem Menschen, daß er sähe, wie er sie nennte; denn wie der Mensch allerlei lebendige Tiere nennen würde, so sollten sie heißen
20 Und der Mensch gab einem jeglichen Vieh und Vogel unter dem Himmel und Tier auf dem Felde seinen Namen; aber für den Menschen ward keine Gehilfin gefunden, die um ihn wäre.
21 Da ließ Gott der Herr einen tiefen Schlaf fallen auf den Menschen, und er schlief ein. Und er nahm seiner Rippen eine und schloß die Stätte zu mit Fleisch.
22 Und Gott der Herr baute ein Weib aus der Rippe, die er von dem Menschen nahm, und brachte sie zu ihm.
23 Da sprach der Mensch: Das ist doch Bein von meinem Bein und Fleisch von meinem Fleisch; man wird sie Männin heißen, darum daß sie vom Manne genommen ist.
24 Darum wird ein Mann Vater und Mutter verlassen und an seinem Weibe hangen, und sie werden sein ein Fleisch.

1 Thus the heauens and the earth were finished, and all the hoste of them.
2 And on the seuenth day God ended his worke, which hee had made: And he rested on the seuenth day from all his worke, which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seuenth day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his worke, which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heauens, & of the earth, when they were created; in the day that the LORD God made the earth, and the heauens,
5 And euery plant of the field, before it was in the earth, and euery herbe of the field, before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to raine vpon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went vp a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, & breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a liuing soule.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden Eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow euery tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food: the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and euill.
10 And a riuer went out of Eden to water the garden, and from thence it was parted, and became into foure heads.
11 The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Hauilah, where there is gold.
12 And the gold of that land is good: There is Bdellium and the Onix stone.
13 And the name of the second riuer is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14 And the name of the third riuer is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the East of Assyria: and the fourth riuer is Euphrates.
15 And the LORD God tooke the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to dresse it, and to keepe it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of euery tree of the garden thou mayest freely eate.
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and euill, thou shalt not eate of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone: I will make him an helpe meet for him.
19 And out of þe ground the LORD God formed euery beast of the field, and euery foule of the aire, and brought them vnto Adam, to see what he would call them: and whatsoeuer Adam called euery liuing creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gaue names to all cattell, and to the foule of the aire, and to euery beast of the fielde: but for Adam there was not found an helpe meete for him.
21 And the LORD God caused a deepe sleepe to fall vpon Adam, and hee slept; and he tooke one of his ribs, and closed vp the flesh in stead thereof.
22 And the rib which the LORD God had taken from man, made hee a woman, & brought her vnto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shalbe called woman, because shee was taken out of man.
24 Therefore shall a man leaue his father and his mother, and shall cleaue vnto his wife: and they shalbe one flesh.
