Act 3 Scene 4
Scene summary: In this scene Malvolio is acting just the way Maria told him to in the letter he thinks came from Olivia, hoping that after he does all the things it said to that he will be with Olivia. Maria warns Olivia about how Malvolio is acting strange, but Olivia still wants to see him. He comes in wearing yellow stockings which he thinks Olivia will love, he keeps smiling, acting better than everyone else, and blowing kisses to Olivia. Olivia is very confused and asked that Malvolio leaves and she goes to see Cesario who has come back. Sir Toby, Maria, and Fabian accuse Malvolio that he is going mad and act like they have no idea why Malvolio is acting so strange, Malvolio then leaves. As if their plan wasn’t enough they decide to make Malvio lose his mind. Just then Sir Andrew rushes in with the letter he wrote for Cesario about the duel. Sir Toby scares Viola/Cesario by over exaggerating how angry Sir Andrew really is at her/him. Sir Andrew and Cesario are about to fight when Antonio come running in. Antonio is arrested by officer of Orsino’s court. He then confuses Viola for her twin brother Sebastian. Which then makes Viola think that her brother is alive. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: Throughout this scene, dramatic irony was displayed. The first example would be when Malvolio is making a fool of himself in front of Olivia. This is because we know that Maria and her pals were behind it but neither Olivia and Malvolio know. When Maria, Sir Toby, and Fabian are talking to Malvolio and accusing him of going mad we know that they're the ones who caused it and are just messing with him. Another example would that as the readers we know that Sebastian is alive but Viola doesn’t know. Then there's Antonio who thinks that Viola is Sebastian but she is really Viola. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: What do you think is going to happen by the end of the play? A: I think that eventually Cesario will have to reveal that she/he is really Viola. Which means that a lot of people may be mad at her but! I think that Orsino maybe in shock and Olivia will be mad. When it comes to romance at the end of the book I predict that Viola is going to win Orsino over, and Olivia may end up being with Sebastian because she liked Cesario and they both look the same. Basically, all the confusing love triangles and misleading love will be untangled and everyone will have someone special.

Act 3 scene 1,2,3
Act 3 Scene 1 Scene summary: In this scene, Viola as Cesario, is on her way to see Olivia. On her way she runs into Sir Toby and Sir Andrews. When she gets to Olivia's, Olivia apologizes for the confusion she made with the ring. She then tells Viola/Cesario how she has feelings for her and asks Cesario if he/she loves her back. Cesario says no, and continues to ask her if she be with Orsino. Olivia doesn’t reply to Cesario, but continues to try and persuade Cesario into liking her. Cesario continues to tell her that she/he isn’t what Olivia thinks she is, but Olivia doesn’t catch on. Viola then leaves. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In this scene, there was a lot of dramatic irony because as readers we know that Cesario is really Viola. Which helps us to get a feel for how she is feeling when Olivia tells her she loves her/him. Poor Viola doesn’t know what to do and wishes greatly that she could tell Olivia but she can’t. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: what is Viola going to do about Olivia being in love with her even though, she/he already said she doesn’t like her back? A: I feel like Viola is going to get really annoyed that she can’t tell anyone who she really is because she is Cesario. Eventually, she may show who she really is and confess to everyone that she is in love with Orsino. Which may make Olivia really mad or sad. Act 3 scene 2 Scene summary: In this scene, Sir Andrew finally accepts that Olivia is way more in love with Cesario then in him. Fabian tries to convince Sir Toby that Olivia is just acting like she is in love with Cesario just to make him jealous. Sir Toby then convinces Sir Andrew to challenge Cesario to a duel, so that when he wins he will gain Olivia's love. Sir Toby told him to write a letter that he will deliver to Olivia. Maria rushes in begging them to come see Malvolio who is making a huge fool of himself in front of Olivia. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In this scene I think that there is foreshadowing because we kind of know that Cesario isn’t going to know how to fight. Also, we know that Sir Toby is kind of up to something. We also know that Cesario can’t love Olivia because she is really Viola. So if Olivia ever tells her she is going to say no. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: Why is Sir Toby creating all this drama between Sir Andrew and Cesario, especially since Sir Andrew is already made at Cesario? A: I feel like Sir Toby wants Sir Andrew to feel better because Sir Andrew is mad that Olivia loves Cesario. Sir Toby is a character that enjoys a good laugh so I also feel like he is just doing this whole thing to be funny. Act 3 Scene 3 Scene summary: In this scene, Antonio continues, to not want to leave Sebastian. Sebastian tells him that he wants to go and see the sights. Antonio replies saying he can’t, he the confesses that he is wanted by the Count Orsino. He then comes up with an idea, which is to meet up in an hour. They part ways and hope to meet back again, both safe. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In this scene I think that there is suspense because we don’t know what is going to happen to Sebastian or Antonio. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: Why is Antonio so worried about Sebastian? A: I get that Antonio cares a lot about Sebastian but as we know he is the one who is wanted by Orsino. I think he is worried about Sebastian because he really care about him like way more than just a friend.

Act 2 Scene 5
Scene Summary:
Maria walks in with the letter she has for the prank she was going to play on Malvolio. Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and their friend Fabian were all there handing behind “the box tree.” Maria leaves and Malvolio enters. As he approaches he was mumbling about how thing would be if he was with lady Olivia and if they were married.which makes Sir Toby and Sir Andrew angry. When Malvolio find the letter, that has been placed for him, he recognizes the handwriting as Olivia’s even though it is Maria’s. He takes it as a sign that Olivia does love him. He agrees to do all the funny thing ps it says in the letter. Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are amazed with how well Maria’s plan worked.
Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play:
Comparisons: I found that there were some interesting comparisons in this scene. When Malvolio was reading the letter that Maria wrote it said to do things like act like you’re at the same ranking as Lady Olivia and be rude to everyone. I think that these are comparisons to the character Malvolio because Malvolio himself already seems very cocky and now Maria what’s him to act like it even more. Dramatic Irony: Dramatic irony is displayed throughout this scene. There are two different examples of this. The first one is because we know that Maria, Sir Toby, and Sir Andrew are playing a trick on Malvolio but Malvolio and other characters don’t know. The next example is that the readers, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Fabian, and Maria know that Malvolio fell for Maria’s prank and is going to do what she said to do in the letter but other character like Olivia don’t.
One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: What is going to happen when Olivia finds out that Malvolio thought she was in love with him?
A: I think that Olivia is going to be angry and defiantly won’t like him back because she has feelings for Cezario. I also think that Maria, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew will get in trouble and Malvolio won’t speak to them ever again.

Act 2 scene 4
Scene Summary: In Act 2 scene 4, Orsino want Feste to come sing him a song that he likes, he then talk to Cesario/Viola about his love problems. As Orsino described love to Cesario, he/she then disagreed with some off the thing he had to say. Cesario then told him that there could be someone out there who loves him just as much as he loves Olivia. Orsino then gives Cesario a ring and tell him to tell Olivia about his love for her. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In my opinion, Cesario /Viola uses dramatic irony through the this scene. As Orsino was describing love and its imperfections, Viola acting as Cesario disagrees with some of the things he says. For instance, Orsino tells Cesario that there is no love greater then the love he has for Olivia. She then disagrees and tells him that there may be someone out there who loves him just as much as he loves Olivia. This displays dramatic irony because Viola is the one who loves Orsino she is just hiding it. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: Do you think Orsino would ever love Cesario if he knew it was really Viola? A: I think that over time Orsino will indeed love Viola, although I think that at first Orsino is going to be mad that Viola pretended to be a man.

Act 2 Scene 3
Scene Summary: In Scene 3 of act 2, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are up late drinking, Feste, who is Olivia’s jester/fool, joins them. They all continue to make noise by talking, drinking and singing. Maria enters and tries to get them to be quiet when she starts to join them. Malvolio is awakened by the noise and yells at them for making so much noise. After Malvolio leaves, Maria composes a plan. Since she has similar handwriting to lady Olivia she decides that she is going to write Malvolio love letter to make him believe that Olivia is in love with him. They all love the plan and Sir Toby and Sir Andrew continue to drink. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In much opinion there was a lot of comedy in this scene. I think that because there is a lot of events going on between all the character and I think Shakespeare decided to put some comedy into the play to make is a bit funny. It also leaves the readers in suspense because you want to know what is going to happen to Malvolio and how the plan is going to play out. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: How is Malvolio going to react to the prank and when he finds out it was a joke? A: I think at first Malvolio will be shocked but then he may start to flirt with lady Olivia and being to make a fool out of himself. Once he find out it was all a joke I think he is going to very angry and may get Maria, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and Feste in trouble, if he finds out it was them.

Act 2 scene 2
Scene Summary: In Act 2 scene 2, Malvolio, steward in Olivia’s household, chased after Viola dressed as Cesario to return the ring he was instructed to give back to Cezario, by Lady Olivia. Cesario is surprised because she didn’t leave any ring. Malvolio gets tired of waiting for her/him to talk the ring and throws it on the floor. Cezario then realizes that the ring is proof that Olivia has feelings for him/her. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: In my opinion, throughout this scene showed character development and some point of view. There is a display of character development because we find out that Olivia has feelings for Cesario. There is a display of point of view because we find out what Viola/Cesario feels about everything that just happened. She regrets that Olivia is in love with her disguise and also that she can’t do anything with Orsino because of her disguise. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: Do you think that Viola should stop being Cezario? A: In a way I feel like Viola would be better off just showing herself so that way she can be with Orsino and not continue to play with Olivia's emotions. Although, if she does there is a chance that Orsino won’t be in love with her and continue to love Olivia and she may get into a lot of trouble or even killed.

Act 2 Scene 1
Scene Summary: In scene 1 of act 2, we find out that Sebastian, Viola’s brother, is indeed alive and has been living with a man by the name of Antonio, who is now Sebastian's friend and is wanted by the Count Orsino. Sebastian tells Antonio that he thinks his twin sister, Viola, has died in the shipwreck they were both in. Sebastian begins to feel very lonely and believes he has no family left so he tells Antonio that is is going to leave. Antonio asks him if he can come with him on his journey but Sebastian tells him that he is staying there and going to Count Orsino’s court. So Sebastian thanks him for saving him and begins on his way. Antonio realizes he care to much for Sebastian and decides to follow him. Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play: I think that Character Development was shown through this scene. A very strong example of character development in this scene was when we found out that Sebastian, Viola’s twin brother, was alive. In this scene, we also got introduced to a character named, Antonio, and discovered that he has really strong feelings for Sebastian. One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer: Q: What would happen if Sebastian got reunited with Viola but she was dressed as Cezario? A: I think that this would cause a lot of drama in the play. Of course Viola/Cesario will have a lot of explaining to do. Sebastian may also never want to talk to Viola again and may think that she has done a very stupid thing. I also think that Sebastian may end up being with Olivia, since Olivia is in love with Cesario and Cesario looks exactly like Sebastian. That way, Viola can be with Count Orsino.

Act 1 Scene 4-5
Scene summary:
In scene four, Viola is disguised as a man named Cesario who is one of Orsino’s servants. Valentine, another one of Orsino’s servants, tells her that ‘’Orsino has taken a liking to you because he is treating you very well.’’ Orsino comes and say that he has to have a word in private with Cesario. Orsino tells Cesario that he must go to Olivia and tell her how much he loves her. Viola is upset about this because she is in love with Orsino and now she has to tell Olivia how much Orsino loves her.
In scene five, Maria is talking to the fool, she tells him that ‘’Lady Olivia is going to be mad about your long assonance.’’ When, Lady Olivia is about to enter so, Maria tells the fool to think of a good excuse as to why he was away.  Olivia wants the fool gone but he argues that she is the fool instead. Then, Maria tell Olivia that there is a man at the gate. Who we know is Viola disguised as Cesario, who has come to give the message Orsino told her to give. Olivia decides to hide herself under a vial because she doesn’t want Cesario to know it’s her. Cesario enters and argues that he wants to give the message to Olivia face to face. Once Olivia shows her face Cesario tell her the love message from Orsino. She tells him she doesn’t want to hear it and that he should leave. Olivia realizes that she is in love with Cesario. Before, Cesario can leave Malvolio, who is one of Olivia’s servants, gives him a ring as a sign to come back soon.

Your personal reaction to ONE element of the play:
I think that in both these scenes there was a lot of character development because we can see that there is a bit of a love triangle between Orsino, Olivia and, Viola/Cesario. This is because Orsino loves Olivia but, Olivia loves Cesario and, Cesario who is really Viola loves Orsino. All of this information was displayed in these two scene.
One interesting question about the play and your prediction or current understanding of the answer:
Q:  Why did Shakespeare decide to incorporate this whole love triangle into his play?
A: I think the reason Shakespeare decided to add a love triangle in his play was to make the play more dramatic and exciting.
