8. Sex headcanon

Janai: In my headcanon, Janai is trans, and her gender dysphoria is especially severe when it comes to sex. The emotional and physical intimacy required brings out all her insecurities. This is something that Amaya helps her work through. Together, they figure out what types of sex feel more comfortable for Janai. Amaya is delighted to discover that Janai really likes being called things like "good girl" and "my lovely princess" during sex. It's gender-validating and it gives Amaya an excuse to compliment her in KSL while she's using her mouth for... other things.

Amaya: Amaya has a high sex drive. Luckily for her, she's pure lesbian catnip, so she never had trouble finding partners for casual sex. She honestly could not tell you how many people she's slept with because she lost count a while ago. If she's having sex in a place where someone might accidentally overhear (a tent in a military encampment, a room in an inn with thin walls, up against a tree not far from a hiking trail), she gags herself, because her hearing partners have informed her that she is very, very loud. This detail catches a lot of people by surprise, so she generally warns them in advance. Janai doesn't mind.

7. Kissing headcanon

Janai's first kiss was a deeply awkward teenage kiss with a slightly older girl who was teaching her sword-fighting. It felt weird and Janai was convinced she was doing it wrong. It took her a few years to realize she wasn't inherently bad at kissing; she was just a normal, awkward teenager. When she shares this story with Amaya, Amaya responds by suggesting they do some "tests" together of her kissing ability. The tests come back 100% successful.

17. Soft spot headcanon

Janai has a soft spot for animals, especially twin-tailed inferno-tooth tigers. She loves their little noses and twitchy ears. In the spring, when the tigers have their babies, she can often be found on the floor of the stables cuddling piles of kittens.

5. Bathing/showering headcanon

Amaya got used to quick, cold baths from her years in the military. When on duty, she didn't have access to any decent bathing facilities and no time for a relaxing bath even if she wanted one. After one year with Janai, this changes completely. Janai has so many fancy soaps! And if they bathe together and Janai uses her heat-being, Amaya has a permanent source of hot water! She becomes absolutely spoiled and very picky about her bathing routine, which Janai finds adorable.

11. Wardrobe headcanon

Amaya's first pair of gloves were a gift from Sarai, who noticed that Amaya's tendency to fling herself into danger resulted in a lot of scrapes and bruises on her hands. Amaya only stopped wearing gloves after Janai started learning sign language. Not wearing gloves made it easier for Janai to see what she was signing. Plus, she likes feeling Janai's warm, soft skin.

in reference to this post about the very gay king james, i’m now thinking of the janaya equivalent of like, lux aurea having some law against elven-human marriage or something, so janai just pulls a king james and keeps promoting amaya within her court. a perpetual “you don’t like my girlfriend? too bad, she outranks you now” type of thing. amaya is delighted.

So did I watch five seasons of The Dragon Prince in a day and a half? Yes. Yes I did.

Sometimes when you're scrolling through Tumblr you'll spot a character that makes you stop and go, "Whoa! Who is that?!" And when you're halfway through bingeing the show they're in, you ask yourself, "Okay, is this character amazing because you want to marry them, or be them?" And, of course, by you I mean me.

And then you see her future wife.

Yep! I definitely want to be General Amaya so that I can marry Queen Janai. Look at her! She is beautiful!

I saw "FUNNY/WARM CODA" and immediately thought "Gren??" before I remembered that it is not canon that Gren is a CODA*, that's just my headcanon, and that "coda" also means "a concluding section."

*CODA - "Child of Deaf Adult," typically used to refer to hearing children born into families where at least one parent is Deaf.

Out of Context SDCC 2021 spoiler cards we (presumably) haven't seen so far, featuring 10/23. Ones we have seen linked here

* For "it's a monster" I could easily see this being attributed to Viren's fever dreams with Soren's reaction to his corrupted face, but again, it's too general/vague to tell.

one thing i never appreciate enough about the dragon prince is that they didn't make amaya and gren a couple. it would've been so easy to pair them off together, as they spend so much time together, but no, they're just solid friends.

also, even as amaya is developing a romantic relationship and more of the people in her life are learning to sign, she keeps gren around. it really just speaks to how beautiful their (platonic) relationship is and is really cool on the part of the show to show all sides of that.

The most interesting bit about the hunt for the Titan's heart isn't so much the ethics of it (was it right or wrong), but how it shows three very diverse personalities and stances on Dark Magic, and how DM is so sinisterly tempting that all three personalities come around to it.

You got:

-Your Pragmatists: Viren wants the Titan's heart because it provides a practical solution. One spell and *poof!* no famine. Dark Magic is just a tool, no different from a socket wrench for these guys.

-Your TINAs (There Is No Alternative): Harrow doesn't seem super thrilled about Dark Magic but he realizes it's better than the alternative, which is to say, thousands of people starve to death. Highlighted by him telling Sarai "we have no choice" despite having no moral argument against what she says.

-Your Ride or Die's: Sarai strongly disapproves of dark magic (specifically because of the innocent life that has to die for it), but she's willing to go along with it because she wants to be there for her husband and support him in his decision.

This makes what happens next most interesting: despite being the most disapproving of Dark Magic, it is Sarai who ultimately kills the Titan, Sarai who ultimately goes back to save the one person who can actually do the spell, and Sarai who is the only on of the three to die. Which I think highlights something that goes beyond how someone might feel about Dark Magic and instead highlights something sinister about it: anyone can come around to it.
