GO,LOVELY ROSE

Go, lovely Rose-

Tell her that wastes her time and me,

That now she knows,

When I resemble her to thee,

How sweet and fair she seems to be.

Tell her that's young,

And shuns to have her graces spied,

That hadst thou sprung

In deserts where no men abide,

Thou must have uncommended died.

Small is the worth

Of beauty from the light retired:

Bid her come forth,

Suffer herself to be desired,

And not blush so to be admired.

Descriptive Poem

MY THIRST

That terrible, dry-throated feeling

With tongue so parched it sticks

To the roof of my mouth like putty.

Nothing there to swallow but air.

Then the lovely tinkling of ice

Falling into a glass,

And the steady fizzing sound

Of a stream of soda pouring.

The soothing feel of cold

Glass against my lips.

The blessed wetness

Bathing lips, tongue, and throat

NARRATIVE POEM

NO PRINCE NEEDED

Princess Eva waited so long.

She wondered if the fairy had been wrong.

Trapped in the castle was she.

How could this be?

The witch cackled he'll never come.

That prince is a bum.

Princess Eva just sighed sadly.

Maybe she didn't want this so badly.

Looking out the window.

She was tired of being in limbo.

When the witch went to sleep

The princess decided to creep

Right down the stairs.

"Who cares?"

She thought with a smile.

"I'm leaving this castle, princess style."

"Who needs a prince?" thought she.

I've just got to rely on me.

Hapit na usab muabot,

Ang panahon sa paglibot-libot,

Aron mga tawo ilang makab-ot,

Pinaagi sa ilang pag pamotbot.

Ang panahon sa piniliay,

Ayaw’g padala sa mga pasumbingay,

Aron ma unhan ang pagmahay,

Na atong napili, sayop diay.

Kung taas pa ang panahon,

Na sila atoang ilhon,

Ug ato silang sutaon,

kung angayan ba sila atong

pilion,

Sa umaabot na eleksyon.

Ayaw padani sa kahumot,

Apan hugaw ang mga kamot,

Balika ang gipangdaot,

Kung natul-id ba ang nangagubot.

Tan-awa kung unsa ang nabuhat,

Ayaw’g patakag panagat,

Susiha kung asa ang mas bug-at?

Lider na atong naandan,

Apan walay kausaban? O,

Sa lider na wala nato maandan,

Apan atong nasayran ang kalambuan,

Sa lugar na iyang gipanguluha…
