Alucard playing volleyball, as requested by a friend (also as a college project involving color; reference was used which is probably why his legs are so t h i c c)
i think the reason i hate the idea of alucard killing people or drinking human blood and "becoming like his father!!!1!1!" (like in some fan portrayals, netflixvania (where he impales two people wtf???) and that one radio drama) so much is bc.... i feel like his arc works best if his fear and self hatred is completely unwarranted.
family and lineage is such a huge theme in castlevania- if the belmonts are destined to take on the role of their ancestors no matter what, then alucard represents choosing your own fate even if its the opposite of what your lineage "should" dictate, but it still bears down heavily on his mind even though hes nothing like his father at all! but he eventually stops isolating himself and began living among the people he was convinced his "cursed blood" endangered
and thats kind of a really good message like... all the horrible things you think about yourself arent true and if you actively make an effort to be a good person, you are, and your parentage doesnt define who you are
this is why alurichter is good, bc theyre narrative foils and its an interesting dynamic- richters narrative involves struggling with the expectations of his own bloodline and trying to live up to family expectations to a super unhealthy degree (as influenced by shaft) and he defines his self worth by his predestined role as a belmont, and alucard spends his whole life rejecting and fearing the idea of living up to his family legacy. theyre foils. send post.
