“You shouldn’t self-ID as ADHD/autistic, you’re turning a very real mental condition into a trend” Ok then stop saying delulu. Stop speculating on which cluster C personality disorder the criminals you hear about on the news have. Stop saying “schizoposting” and “acoustic” and “is it restarted?” Stop using “psycopath” and “sociopath” as catch-all ways of calling someone a bad person. Stop saying “the intrusive thoughts won” when you bleach your hair and then turn your nose up at people who suffer from very real, very scary urges of physical/sexual violence. Stop saying “I’m so OCD” as a way of calling yourself neat. Stop treating BPD/ASPD/Bipolar as inherently abusive. Stop saying “OP I am living in your walls” without tagging for unreality. Stop diagnosing complete strangers you’ve never met on r/AITA with NPD.
You first. If you don’t want our disabilities to be treated like trends then stop belittling and minimising them. I’ll NEVER judge a person for trying find labels for their symptoms when an apathetic, racist, sexist, ableist healthcare system refuses to. But I will absolutely judge a hypocrite. Which a lot of you are

Calming Sensory Activities
Rest. You need it.
Floor time (I cannot stress this enough)
Watching a rainstorm out a window, or while sitting under your porch awning (if you have one) while curled up in a blanket
Laying your bare back against a cold wall
Sitting directly in front of a vent while the heat is on. Blanket optional but recommended
Stretching your creaky joints
This may get eyerolls, but: touching grass or rolling around in it
Hugging a tree
Splashing your face in water
Warm up a towel in the microwave, dryer, or other heat source, and put it around your neck
Stare at clouds moving across the sky and observe how they morph
Get some sidewalk chalk and draw on your driveway
Clench your eyes shut and watch the light show

I finally found a grounding technique that somewhat works for me. I've always hated the five senses technique because it's not my surroundings I'm disconnected from, it's my body.

not that the phrase stim/fidget toy is bad, but i think it'd be a good idea to call them "sensory aids" more often. they're tools neurodivergent people use to help ourselves function and enhance our wellbeing. they comfort us, help us focus, and safely give us the sensory stimulation our brains need. that's a lot more than a toy. and while anyone can have toys no matter how old they are, i think the fact they're overwhelmingly called toys instead of aids is related to the infantilization of (some) neurodivergent people, and the idea that we can "grow out" of our sensory needs - since they're also overwhelming seen as something for children to use, not adults.

There are at least two legitimate uses I've found for essential oils when it comes to mental health.
First, grounding from disassociation. When I'm having an issue with disassociation, shoving a little bottle with an unnaturally strong smell under my nose works pretty well to get me back in my body. Granted, rubbing alcohol and other strong scents work too, but essential oils are "nice" enough that other people usually don't mind if you uncap them for a second in public. I also prefer them to perfume and other similar products because if I apply a scented product to my body, I gradually become noseblind to it, making it ineffective. So I may as well use something with a much stronger smell that I can keep myself sensitive to by not uncapping it often. The only other thing that works as well for me is ice, which is a little impractical to keep on me at all times.
Second, screening for olfactory hallucinations. Some people can use plugging their nose for this, but it doesn't work reliably for me. However, the Wall Of Lime is impossible for me to actually smell past, which lets me reliably determine if a smell is real.
There is a lot of bullshit around essential oils. They aren't going to cure a cold, or anything that requires a physical effect from a smell. But there are legitimate uses for strong smells, and they can be a useful tool when used appropriately.

Major Depressive Disorder
My Version of the Symbol
[PT: Major Depressive Disorder | My Version of the Symbol]
I did also use this version(link) being I do like the concept of it but I also feel like it’s not a lot and that it should have a bit more. So I hope you enjoy it!

epic lifehack 4 autistic / ADHD / anxiety / PTSD people and anyone else who uses chewlery and chew toys and stim toys u put in ur mouth!!
to sterilise the chew toy you have to boil it in water to like... get rid of the bacteria or whatever idk but if you, like me, do not like the taste of super sterilised silicone, sterilise it in a tea of ur choice!! I use mint tea or cranberry tea but just boil a pot of water with ur chewlery in and shove in a teabag or 2 while its boiling and itll taste like the tea 4 a bit.
