HALIMEâ:
.
it wasnât that she thought that mi young didnât have better things to do with her time, but halime couldnât bring herself to bother melina with these thoughts. her friend already had too many problems of her own to be bothered with halimeâs situational self-doubt. besides, mi young being older and more experienced, also had that to add to her reasoning in why she was asking her for advice and not her best friend. âi know.â she sighed, yet again. âand i know i should âtrust the processâ or whatever people say online, but, itâs easier said than done. maybe itâs the birthday thing that itâs leaving me in a funk like that.â halime smiled, waving her hand at the end to ensure that she was putting up a good image of herself. and of course, she didnât want to be a debbie downer and turn this pleasant, professional meeting into a sob story, starring herself. âi do appreciate your words, mi young. even if this was not what we were supposed to be doing during a business meeting, i do appreciate your advices. iâll even let the whole baby thing slide.â she added with humor, smiling as she scrunched her nose at mi young.
allowing her client-slash-friend make her own arrangements on the prototype of the app her startup was developing for her, halime sat back, sipping carefully on her drink and watching what was being marked or changed so she could make it happen once she was back at her office. then, the conversation got a friendlier tone, which, halime appreciated, because it relieved the pressures of working with a friend or with someone you admired, and eased her expressions. âwe do deserve a fucking break. when are you free? my schedule is easier to move around, but i think weekends work best for me. what about you?â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
Mi-young was never a big fan of her own birthday, so she could understand the funk that Halime was feeling. It also didnât help that when she turned, it was a reminder that her age didnât matter given her immortality. Therefore, she found it redundant to celebrate. It didnât matter if she was another year wiser or older or with more experience, it felt like a complete plateau at the end of the day.Â
âOh Halime, you matter more than my business, okay? Besides, you have so much time ahead of you. Youâll get over this funk and find that spark again.â Mi-young knew the she-wolf was a fighter in her own right and so she wasnât too worried of her veering off the path she had made for herself. âWeekends are my day off anyways, so that works best for me...â And for the rest of their time in Myriad cafe, the two caught up and continued planning their scheduled getaway.Â

MARCELLAâ:
â
While she wouldnât have described herself as clumsy, she couldnât fault Mi-young for thinking so tonight. She was too focused on dueling thoughts of not succumbing to hunger and, well, everything else she had the vicious habit of tormenting herself with.
âLost in thought.â She shrugged, not offering further apology. Marcella clenched her jaw against the pang of hunger. âBut at least sparring together keeps the senses sharp?â
Yet. Marcella wasnât certain if this was a thinly veiled threat, a warning, or both. Then again she didnât think she could really hurt Mi-young either. They were both vampires, it would take effort to inflict anything more than a scratch and she had nothing against Mi-young to wish to do so.
âSomewhere between just really hungry and starving, but otherwise fine. I take it youâre coping pretty well if youâre out, or testing your resilience. But I could use aâŚdrink,â she muttered the last sentence more to herself than to her companion. âMaybe going to the gym will provide a decent distraction.â And build up more of an appetite, perhaps, but a good distraction while it lasted. âHavenât seen you there in a bit, but maybe weâve just been going at different times.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
At that point Mi-young sighed as she knew not everyone is considered to be in their âbestâ behaviour due to the circumstances they were in. âI donât blame you.â she agreed. Shrugging, she then casted her gaze downwards and stared at her hands briefly while slowly nodding to their inquiry. âMmm, maybe TOO sharp.âÂ
It was risky to do any sort of physical activity at this time. If anything, this would either fuel her hunger or make her want to have an outlet to exhaust it. âWell that makes the two of us.â Mi-young muttered under her breath after hearing Marcellaâs state. She then scoffed and shook her head as she continued to clench and unclench her fists, âCoping is an understatementâŚI didnât want to ruin my loft.âÂ
The suggestion caused the vampire to tilt her head slightly, âYouâre bold for suggesting that.â She paused and thought about it, sure it would serve as a distraction, however the only issue was the other patrons there. âItâs probably cause of the different times, although I will say Iâve been slacking as I had to focus on a large order from my shopâŚâ
Maybe she could kill two birds with one stone, feed AND get a workout. â...So youâre still up for sparring?â she clarified. It didnât sound like a bad idea...

MARCELLAâ:
DATE: November 8; Evening
LOCATION: UTP; Outdoors
The sun had begun to set leaving the sky in dusky, muted blues and hazy shades of indigo. A halo of burnt oranges, tattered at the edges from the varying lengths of the fading rays of light, surrounded the setting sun that was quickly disappearing over the horizon. The crisp breeze nipped at Marcellaâs bare arms.
Hunger sank its fangs into her causing her stomach to twist in craving for blood. Again. She had just fed recently, but the full moonâs pull was making her hunger more frequent and bottomless no matter how much blood she seemed to consume. There were many things to loathe about being a vampire, but the lunar influence was among the most obnoxious. Marcella hated feeding and did her best to make each time as quick as possible if she were to feed on a live and willing person. And thus she had resorted to going for a long run as a means of distraction, but it was doing little now that her thoughts all remained sharply focused on her growing hunger. Better that than the usual alternative, she supposed, but of course as soon as she considered that her mind started to throw past memories into the mix. Time to start anticipating the arrival of a headache soon to come.
She had been so lost in thought that she had to swerve at the last second to avoid the approaching figure. Marcella slowed to a walk and turned around to approach them. She hadnât crashed into them, so that was a plus, but she figured itâd be rude not to at least check on them.
âSorry.â The apology was brief and not accompanied by any sort of explanation to excuse the near-accident. âAre you okay? I hope I didnât startle you.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
For someone who was already dead, Mi-young surely wished she was more so on the resting in peace side of things. The full moons were definitely a hit or miss, but overall dreadful to the vampire as she struggled with maintaining a civilized and composed demeanour.Â
She was always steps ahead for any occurrence that would significantly take place. With the Beaver Moon it was no different, she had blood bags stocked, even an emergency stash. Her plan was to just lock herself up in her loft, in the dark with the bountiful of blood to feed on. However, her cravings went through the roof that it was impacting her own sanity to the point where she decided to go for a walk and gain a breath of fresh air.
Evidently enough, she knew it was an âitchâ for wanting live blood bags in her trek. However, Mi-young had a lot of restraint through the years, so why stop now? If anything, this was building her tolerance as she remained distant and distracted herself in many ways whether it be the scenery or her phone or people watching at a distance.Â
Speaking of peopleâŚ
Avoiding the collision, in a blink of an eye, she moved to the space beside her and continued walking trying not to attract any attention. However, when she heard the apology and the inquiry, she stopped and took a deep breath before engaging in the conversation. âNo harm, no foul.â she pointed out at first. âAlthough I will say your timing is impeccable for beingâŚCLUMSY...â Shaking her head, she then replied with, âIâm fine and no you didnât..Not yet at least...How about yourself?âÂ

OPHELIAâ:
â
Even in a country like this, people had trouble hiding their age. Ophelia wasnât sure exactly how old this woman was, but from her mannerisms, she must have been at least around her parentsâ age range. âIf you have no clue then all youâve been doing is surviving and that doesnât count as living.â
The witch smirked at Mi-young. âAdapt better, make use of it. Surely, you arenât just a pretty face, right?â Ophelia took a sip before thanking the barista with a wink. âDressed so smartly, yet not a thought in her head.â  They muttered, not caring if a word was heard. âIf you need anything, including better, discrete mornings, you now have my contact.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
The statement struck a nerve with Mi-young. While she was somewhat being called out, she would like to think she got over the whole fight or flight mindset and was now living how she wanted to be. With a hardened gaze, the vampire shook her head in disagreement and calmly replied with, âI have no clue what youâre talking about.â She maintained an honest tone as this was a complete stranger she was talking to.Â
Reading out the business card, she picked up on the otherâs name. âWell Miss Santana, Iâll agree to disagree.â Reaching over the counter, she then took her beverage before opening up the lid and pulling out a vial of blood. She heard the comment, loud and clear with her heightened hearing, but simply ignored it as she focused on dumping the contents into her drink and stirring it with the provided stir stick. It would be the definition of insanity as they would get nowhere with the back and forth. More so, she ran out of fucks to give.Â
âThatâs vague, againâŚAt this rate, you serve no purpose to me, so Iâm sure this would benefit someone else.â She held the card back out to them and said, âAnd a turned down opportunity wouldnât hurt your finances. Thereâs...what do they call it?...âOther fishes in the seaâ for your supposed expertise.âÂ

RENâ:
Ren fell silent for a moment as he pondered the question about Mi-young. He had to give her the credit she deserved. She had always been genuine to him which was a huge reason he spent the time her did with her. She knew him very well and that left him vulnerable but because of how honest she was, he knew that vulnerability wasnât ,misplaced. âYouâve got me there. You might be the most honest person I knowâ Ren noted before his small smile grew into a smirk. â It canât be left alone too long, it gets out of controlâ Ren teased as he gathered the clothes he was going to purchase. â Well I canât let them down.â He snuck a glance over towards the salesperson before glancing back. He lifted a hand to wave off the idea he had somewhere to be. â No I have nowhere to be, Iâm all yours for the day. Iâll give you that though. It is a little rude to be picky about food considering alternativesâ He admitted. he knew he shouldnât be so careless with some of his words about things like food when he had people he cared about who couldnât even enjoy food like he could. â Itâs for work, I have a lot of suits at this point, but itâs all starting to feel repetitive. I used to be fun, but now Iâm at work all the timeâ
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
A triumphant smirk appeared on Mi-youngâs lips as she nodded, âEnough said.â she replied while doing an overdramatic bow. It was all fun and games, but to live this long she wasnât going to provide any sort of shortcomings to others, especially with someone who was of Renâs status. âWhat an honour, if it isnât my lucky dayâŚâ she mused as she gestured a wave towards the cash register. âSome people have preferences and thereâs nothing wrong with that. Itâs all about finding a common ground. As such, I am more than okay with your selection.â After learning that the suit was for his job, Mi-young rolled her eyes and mentally slapped herself as she should have known better. From one work-aholic to another, it was always rewarding and therapeutic to be shopping for an outfit to stunt on while you were on the job. âTypical, but for what itâs worth you do have tasteâŚâ Arching a brow, the vampire then curiously asked, âUsed to? Do tell, what was âFUNâ Ren Yamada really like?âÂ

HALIMEâ:
.
the talk of change reminded her a lot of her conversations with her father. maybe that was why halime was so eager to please or to make miyoung proud. while the two were friends, the vampire had always been held so high in halimeâs standards, that it was hard for her not to want to be held up high, too. the talk of setting up high expectations for herself made the alpha chuckle a little. âi guess itâs a little late for that. and yes, i know iâm the only one setting up these expectations, but⌠at my age, my mother had already managed to carry on an empire in the technological field and had already married my father.â she stated, a sad smile gracing her lips as halime retold her parents little love story. âiâm still trying to make my start-up work.â hali then finished with a sigh. it wasnât often that she allowed others to see her thisâvulnerable, but she figured that she could do that with miyoung. âit just feels like everyone is succeeding, and iâm⌠still trying to keep my head above water. some days are just harder than others.â the alpha confessed, before bringing her coffee to her lips. âdo you⌠regret doing or not doing something in your years, miyoung?â
silence fell once halime allowed miyoung to browse through the beta version of the app. she gave the vampire enough space to do as she pleased with the test version, but also made herself open to any questions that miyoung might have had. âoh, i know.â halime nodded. âi wouldnât have a successful business if i went around granting favors to friends, right? my father would definitely be upset if that happened. and now that i have your okay for this beta version, youâll have an invoice in your email by the end of the week.â she assured miyoung, as she went on to make notes on every comment and change the vampire had pointed out for her to make. âah⌠as for our weekend, how do you feel about a spa getaway? i think we could both use the royalty treatment.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
It was inevitable to try to talk the she-wolf out of discouraging herself, especially with the reputation her family name had. It was a given that a lot of pressure was already on her to begin with. âWe are our OWN worst enemyâŚEspecially when it comes to comparison.â Mi-young pointed out at first. âFurther to that time has changed when your mother made a name for herself in comparison to the present.â With a gentle smile, she reached out and gently squeezed her hand as a form of comfort before letting go, âYouâve made a name for yourself, you have clientsâŚThis is more than enough progress in comparison to when you were just starting out.â Tapping at her own head, the vampire shook her head and huffed a sigh, âItâs all in here hun. Trust itâs never easy, Iâd be lying if I say itâs picture perfect. Youâll have your loss, but more importantly youâll have your gainsâno matter how big or small it may be. Itâs all about perspective after all. If you keep digging a grave for yourself and bringing yourself down then youâll never get anywhere.âÂ
Taking a sip of her coffee, Mi-young pondered on a response to Halimeâs question and refrained from frowning as distant memories crossed her mind. âPLENTY of regrets, but alas here I am.â She then shrugged, âThereâs a reason why I made a choiceâŚThereâs no use in dwelling on what could have been. I hope this somewhat encourages you to have a little bit more faith in yourselfâŚâ With a playful grin, she then added, âYouâre still a baby after allâŚSo baby steps, mmkays?â
Taking the Apple Pen out of her purse, she began taking screenshots and making noted feedback. Soon she came to a halt and decided to further discuss this on their working hours and continue to carry out their current conversation. âSounds good, thank you again.â Her ears perked up at the mention of a spa getaway and immediately she nodded in agreement to the plan. âUgh, pleaseâŚI agree with you a thousand percent. We need a fucking break. We should get it down before the full moon, that way we would suffer but withâŚease.â

they werenât going to stand there and keep bantering on who was doing better than who, otherwise, it would come to a point where their genuine admiration for miyoung could be percieved as faked⌠which, was far from the truth. âi have not. should i start?â they asked with humour in their tone, a light chuckle escaping their lips as kareem gently twirled the cup of coffee in their hands. granted, they wouldnât start keeping tabs on miyoung, as they thought it would be disrespectful, but given the time they had spent doing business together, and how her flower shop was still open, they could only assume she was still thriving. âall jokes aside, miss kim, i understand what youâre saying. itâs the reason why youâve just corrected me, isnât it? we get used to our little routine, so our own achievements tend to be taken for granted.â kareem took the liberty to paraphrase what she has just said.
kareem set their coffee aside to help miyoung with the items she had gotten herself, and started checking them out for her, gently placing them in the paper bag that carried the name and logo of the store. and, since they could, they granted her a 5% additional discount, simply because the store wasnât too far to hit its monthly and weekly goal anyway. âa thank-you date it is. do you have any preference?â although⌠since they were inviting, they should be the one to pick the placeâshouldnât they? oh well. kareem them helped her with the payment and then, handed miyoung the baggie with her purchase. âiâll stop by âyouâll be vineâ around 7, is that okay with you?â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
âIf thatâs the case, then Iâd be in good company, no?â mused Mi-young with a playful smile. Itâs not like she had nothing to hide especially when she went through the sponsorship programs and interviewing process. She was content with what she was able to show at face value. âMm, fair enough Kareem.â Agree to disagree. Pulling out her wallet from her purse, she took out her credit card and handed it to them as she paid the total. âUmmâŚLetâs do Lunara. Does that work?â She took back her card and purchase before nodding in agreement with the plan. âSeven sounds good, Iâll see you then.â A gracious smile appeared on her lips as she lifted the bags to display the items she bought, âAnd thanks for contributing to my little shopping spree. I suppose it is a âtreat myselfâ day.â Mi-young then gave a final wave, before bidding goodbye and advising the witch to contact her once heâs at the shop.Â

JINYIâ:

âOh, my days! This stunning raw jade green is you, dĂ jiÄ? Sorry, youâre usually marigold-ish whenever we meet for lunch. Didnât recognize you. My glasses have been doing a shit job lately.â Jinyi tilted her head back and forth, but no matter what she did, it was undeniably hard to see the features of Mi-youngâs visage through the enchanting green haze encapsulating her. âGuess I need a new prescription. AgainâŚâ Her voice trailed off. For some reason, she sounded really defeated about it.
But then a light bulb went off when an idea popped into her, and suddenly, she seemed much more excited: âPorque no los dos? How many eggs are in here anyways?â Jinyi opened the carton to check. Quick maths. âI only need seven for the week. Can you bake a cake with three eggs? How about we go back to your place to bake the cake, and then I can take any leftover cake and the rest of the eggs home with me? I can bring the cake to tomorrowâs Trillions meeting. Iâm sure the guys would love having a sweet treat for once!â Maybe coming out to the grocery store wasnât so bad after all. âCome on!!â She placed the eggs in Mi-youngâs cart, took the otherâs hand, and headed towards the next aisle. âWhat else do you need? And I might as well get that tofu, too. I should try to make scrambled tofu just in case an apocalyptic egg shortage happens again.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
When she had encountered Jinyi, Mi-young found her aura reading quite fascinating as she learned about her colour. For someone whoâs literally dead, she wouldnât associate any sort ofâŚlife in her, not even colours. However, it was a comforting sentiment to know that there still was even if it was with a single individualâs eyes. âNo need to apologize hunâ. Itâs not everyday you find me in here after all.â She didnât need sustenance since sheâd frequent the blood banks often. âAgain? How frequently do you change these?â Mi-young curiously asked, pointing at her glasses.Â
The business owner wasnât opposed to the spontaneous idea, especially since sheâll a) be able to carry out the mundane task and b) not waste the baked goods sheâd made. Therefore, the vampire nodded in agreement and said, âThe ingredients did call for like 2 eggs, I thinkâŚSo that should be enough if I get it in one goâŚWhich I probably will.â Not that she was being cocky, but she was somewhat of a perfectionist at times and so, she would prefer to complete this cake in one go. âOkay, perfect! That works for me. Thank you for the suggestion.â Following Jinyi to the next aisle, she continued to push the cart and take a glance around, âI was thinking of making a carrot cake to match the autumnal season? Iâm gonna need carrots...Cream cheese for the frosting along with some powdered sugar...I already have the spices and the usual baking ingredients at home, so that should be enough.âÂ

âWait, youâre right. Calling my mom is a stupid idea. She never answers my phone calls anyways.â Jinyi said, thinking out loud. They finally stopped fiddling with their phone as they found the eggs being handed to them, and this time it was their turn to confusedly look at Mi-young. âHuh? If you canât eat them, then why are you buying them? Making a treat for someone?â They too, were a fan of occasionally buying useless things for the hell of it, but useless food was a new one.Â
Jinyi held out the eggs for Mi-young to take back. ââŚIf youâre going to use these eggs for good, then maybe you should take them instead. Not that I was going to do anything weird with them. But if they can make someone happy as part of a cake or something, then I think that should take priority. The world wonât end if I donât have scrambled eggs for a week.â What to make of Karma, Jinyi didnât quite yet know. However, she did know her actions had directly caused the suffering of countless people. If she could pay back a small amount of that karmic debt with this small act of perceived kindness, then all the better.Â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
What kind of mother neglects their own child?âŚ
The vampire knew better and had been well aware of familial ties that were toxic or careless. At this rate, perhaps she was just assuming incorrectly and that their mother wasnât much of a phone call type of fanatic. However, Mi-young soon mentally kicked herself after picking up on the familiar scent and the trademark red glasses that she knew from anywhere. âJinyi.â she announced after realizing who she was talking to. âUm, not quite. I just felt the urge to do a mundane taskâŚâ Her voice trailed off while a soft chuckle escaped her lips, âItâs me, Mi-youngâŚIâm sure youâll be able to put two and two together.â
Declining the carton, she still kept them held in Jinyiâs hands and shook her head, âItâs not do or die hun, I simply came here to attempt to bake a cakeâŚBut itâs a definite sign that todayâs not the day.â Pausing, she shrugged and added. âBesides, Iâd be wasting that cake since I canât even eat it in its entirety, so please take it. Iâm assuming youâre doing some grocery shopping today? Might as well check this off your list.âÂ

EZRAKâ:
ËÂ°Ë âž Â âĄ Â â˝ Ë°Ë
âAre you sure?â He questioned, at first. Ezrak hardly would use having an infant at home as an excuse to make his life easier when in need of something; but, this time, it was really Kirazâ desire of choice of something to eat. So it was the least he could do for her. Besides, at the remembrance that Mi-young was a vampire, he felt he deserved that.Â
Of course his distaste towards vampires were often clouded by his notion that when it comes to business and living in a country like Nova Pangaea, he would cover that thought as much as he could. And with that he simply shared a brief smile at her remark. âShe would definitely throw a tantrum, I spoil that child more than I should.â In the end, she was the only one that softened his heart anyway. âWell, Iâll make sure to remember you were kind to me and buy you a bottle of wine or anything that shows my gratitude, in a way.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
Mi-young nodded to confirm her decision. It was a no brainer, especially since sheâll be wasting the food she bought as she didnât plan on fully eating it. It would be a bad look on her end, especially coming from a privileged background. Food scarcity was a thing and she definitely didnât want to be another added value to such a poor contribution.Â
âAbsolutely sure.â she replied in a firm tone. Adorable really, to know that his child was loved and cared for. Although she couldnât fully relate, it was heartwarming to see and hear about it at times. âItâs an OBLIGATION to spoil her. Sheâs your only child, right?â She appreciated the trade-off, but held no obligation for Ezrak to carry through with it. âThatâs not necessary hun, itâs just a dozen eggs thatâll restock anytime. I will say that Iâm glad I was able to snatch it for someone I know though.â

DA SOMâ:

now it was time for her lips to twitch for a mere second there. while dasom had no intention to continue being treated this coldly in the middle of their day when the vampire was trying to go on with their day in a light way. sure, they knew by now which battles to pick and the ones to ignore, however, they also refused not to stand up for themselves when they felt being treated unfairly. âbut⌠you were the one to mention the programs.â the older vampire said in a matter-of-factly manner as her gaze moved around them, searching for one of the sales associates to flag, before resting her gaze on mi young. âi simply asked how you were doing, in a general manner, like a polite person would, regardless of them being a fan of the programs or not. because i havenât seen you in a while. the only difference was trying to add humor to it, as i can see was not effective.â with a shrug, dasom accepted their defeat in that department as the vampire knew she wasnât funny. at all.Â
luckily, they would all be able to move on with their lives as soon as possible, seeing as the eggs shelves were now being replenished. joy! âif i were asked to keep tabs on you, you would know as i think it would be disrespectiful to do it behind your back.â dasom decided to clarify. "and you should know if you were doing something wrong. none of us are children.â with that, dasom recounted the amount of egg cartons in her cart, then looked up, pressing her lip into a forced thin-lipped smile.
âalas, you have a good day, mi young-ssiâor am i not allowed to do that either?â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
âBecause thatâs how I know you.â Sighing, this was a battle that wouldnât make sense as it was Mi-youngâs own opinion being formulated here. She should have just remained civil and gone with her day than make matters worse between them. âWell as long as Iâm not harmed and dead, I consider that fine.â she finally replied. Although small talk was a part of her day to day life, it was difficult when she wasnât fond of the conversation. âI suppose humour comes with age, so itâs understandable.âÂ
It wasnât meant to be an insult, but more so of an observation. However, she wouldnât blame Da Som if they were to be offended by such remarks. It wasnât like the younger vampire was making a good rep for herself. âAlright fine, Iâll tone the hostility down.â Shaking her head, she pushed her cart ahead and said, âDo whatever. Iâm over it.âÂ

her brows twitched at the first sign of hostility picked up by the older vampire, which, might have been misinterpreted on her side, sure. dasom tended to do that a lot: take things personally or emotionally, which often ended up being a misinterpretation of the other personâs intention. first, she didnât consider herself as someone who tended to invade peopleâs privacies unless it was required of her, and whenever she sponsored someone, sadly, it was required for sponsors to be on top of other peopleâs livesâfor their own sake. âitâs okay, take it.â she settled on not starting a whole emotional ride for herself and just maybe making this conversation short, since obviously, in her eyes, her presence wasnât exactly welcoming to miyoung at the moment. maybe she was going through something that dason wasnât aware of. the sudden change in both her tone and body language distancing herself from that familiar feeling she had before. âiâm going to need more than one carton anyway, so iâll flag one of the workers and weâll all go home happy.â there were other supermarkets in the city anyway, so it wasnât like dasom would go home empty-handed in case they were having some sort of shortage of eggs at independent.
her questions, again, made dasom wonder if something was going on the otherâs life, but if she asked, then this once-friendly conversation would end up taking a defensive stance that dasom wasnât looking for, so she just shook her head. âi never said that. i was simply trying to make conversation.â she couldâve continued, saying that the way she was reacting didnât make it look like things were indeed okay, but dasom figured that if miyoung had a problem with her or how she acted, the other wouldâve voiced it. none of them were children to begin with. âbut youâre right, i do have better things to do than bantering in the middle of a supermarket aisle.â she noticed one of the store associates approaching the duo, bringing along a cart filled with eggs cartons. âthere you go. eggs for everyone.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
A part of Mi-young was aware that her hostility towards Da Som may be unjust. However, she wasnât a fan of the âonboardingâ experience into NP on the whole. If her brother was still alive, then she would have been fine living anywhere else in the world. But the vampire opted to honour Min-hoâs wishes and so, she had to set aside her pride for once and make it work.Â
That didnât mean she enjoyed the programs.
Da Som was an ideal sponsor and if anything Mi-young should feel lucky that she had them and not some old fashioned, stick up your ass vampire. However, itâs the principle of having to be babysat, let alone there was some distaste towards the government due to the loss of her brother. Combine all of that and you have a VERY stubborn Mi-young.Â
Seeing another batch of eggs being stocked, the Kim heiress nodded and placed her carton into her cart. âHow convenient.â she pointed out at first. âAlso your attempt at making conversation with someone who wasnât a fan of the whole process is commendable.â Although her tone was monotonous, Mi-young wasnât lying when she acknowledged the attempt. âMhm, eggs for everyone. At least the others wonât starve themselves of such protein.âÂ

while it wasnât like rue botanicalâs was kareemâs, they couldnât say they could actually relate to miyoung. they were, although brown-skinned, male presenting⌠so that much alone got them further on societyâs line than miyoung, sadly. but they couldnât help but admire her drive, though. sure, it wasnât easy to run a conglomerateâŚÂ âyet, you seem to do it so well, though. meanwhile, iâm struggling to keep one store alive.â okay, struggling wouldnât be the exact word, but there were some ups and downs, just like any regular business would have. they have been running the store long enough to know that, and well⌠numbers were being met, which meant headquarters were happy, which meant kareem was happy. end of story. âall jokes aside though, i do think youâre doing one hell of a good job at both, so thereâs that. i mean, youâre running two distinctly businesses and one of them is almost getting to their first year, you know? youâre expanding your business, getting more people involved, not taking no for answers⌠thatâs a lot more than i can say for some business owners i know.â they didnât want to seem like she needed a pep talk, because in kareemâs mind, she didnât⌠although, theyâd gladly give her one if it came to it. a good one at that.
the full package deal, huh? they arched one brow at the line, an amused smile as they repeated the words âdonât overthink itâ over and over in their mind, because knowing themselves like they did, all it would take was one word and kareem would be all over miyoung, and that couldnât happen. business partners were too valuable to be lost over flirtings. âin all honesty, i donât mind.â they stopped with the false modesty for a moment there, so that miyoung would see that they werenât joking or lying. âi like coming up with things for people i care about. i heard itâs a love language?â someone had brought it up to them a few times already, because they had mentioned making gifts to people they cared about and all of that. âso, it actually makes me happy to sit behind my working area and come up with something that youâll like.â and they were quick to add, âi mean, not only you, but anyone iâve made things for.â free, unpaid for, things. just because they cared things. âtell you whatâonce youâre done shopping and iâm done with the shop duties, i can take you out for some wine, or blood or i donât know⌠you know, to thank you for the coffee and the vervain.â

A laugh escaped the vampireâs lips as she gestured a nonchalant wave to dismiss the praise. âIâll let you in on a secretâŚâ She then leaned in and whispered, âThe secret is IMPOSTER SYNDROME.â Taking a look around the store, she then pulled out her phone and opened up reviews both on Google and Yelp. âUmâŚTake that back because you have such positive reviews and the way I see it, a struggle is when you donât put in the effort and make excuses. Obviously, it isnât easy to do all this, but your hard work and dedication to the cause pays off.âÂ
A genuine smile appeared on her face as she appreciated Kareemâs kind words. Sheâs heard it all the time, but itâs moments like this where she knew it was sincere and not some cop out remark just to get on her good side. âHow observant. Youâve been keeping tabs on me?â she teased. âRegardless, Iâm grateful for the recognition. I guess since Iâve been doing it for quite some time..I tend to overlook the overall accomplishments.âÂ
Taking a sip of her warm beverage and breaking her pastry into pieces so that itâll be easier to eat, the vampire looked up at them and nodded in understanding. âItâs good to be self-aware and that makes sense. Itâs like gift giving and acts of serviceâŚThe thought truly counts.â Chuckling softly, she picked out a couple of items while they spoke and snacked and said, âRightâŚRight, of course.â Walking up to the register, she nodded at the proposal âSure, itâs a date.â she mused. âA thank you date.âÂ

HALIMEâ:
.
it did give halime a sense of pride to hear miyoung refer to her as a grown woman because, despite her being just that, there was part of the werewolf who had thought that maybe, the vampire might never see her as that and being proven wrong had never looked so good. âah, but thatâs where youâre wrong⌠i do still need you.â maybe not as much as a parental figure, but definitely as another woman to look up to. she already admired melinaâs ambition and drive, so of course that having someone as miyoung by her side, just made her even happier to be surrounded by successful women. the embrace was welcomed as halime allowed herself to let her guard down around a friend. âokay, you wonât hear me complaining about being spoiled with expensive gifts anymore, i promise!â she chuckled as she carefully placed her gift inside her handbag. âi have the perfect opportunity to wear this, so iâll make sure to take lots of pictures wearing it.â
once they were out of âyouâll be vineâ and into the busy streets of astoria, halime continued. âdo you have any upcoming plans? otherwise i can think of something for us to do during founders weekend, since itâll be a long weekend. and⌠i donât know. iâm feeling older, but nonethewiser. maybe more pressured to make something out of myself, too?â she confessed. and while halime knew she was still young and still had plenty of time to make a name for herself, she was also known to put a lot of pressure in her shoulders because she needed to make her parents proud, one way or another. âi know times were different, and that you were probably going through other things, but how did you feel when you turned thirty-three?â
after sitting down, halime began explaining what she had done with the app to the vampire and when miyoung asked about the mockups, the alpha nodded. âsure, of course.â halime nodded, quickly tapping on her ipadâs screen and opening her notes to write in this particular note there. âiâll send pictures to your email some time this week, as well as other color schemes with more neutral, earthy tones, too.â she smiled. âthat way we donât have to keep meeting just to discuss work. but yes, i figured youâd appreciate the customizing part of the app, i think it could be helpful to people who, like me, donât really know what to get when they walk into a flower shop.â she then, once again, clicked on the prototype of the app, which launched its simpler version and she handed her ipad to miyoung. âfeel free to browse around, though. because maybe something else might pop up that you might want to add or have it fixed.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
Mi-young sighed as she shook her head, âI find that hard to believe.â In all her years of living, she never saw herself as a role model of some sort. If anything, she had looked up to her brother and sire, but when it came to herself, she believed she was rough around the edges and far from an aspiration. âMmm right, rightâŚEven if you arenât wearing it now, I already know itâll be a perfect accessory to your look.âÂ
Unlocking her phone, she opened her calendar to see if she had any upcoming events. âIâm free and what would we do during this weekend then, hm?â The confession of how the she-wolf felt about herself caused Mi-young to laugh softly as she shook her head once more, âOh Halime, no one is putting that pressure on you other than yourself. We think just because weâre a year older, things need to change or there should be some sort of new beginning taking placeâŚâ She paused as a blissful sigh escaped her lips, âBut give it a couple of months and well, youâre back to square one until you feel the anticipation of time changing. Therefore regardless, youâll be making something out of yourself all your lifeâwhy not just bask in who you are now and just further grow without that pressure?âÂ
How did she feel when she turned thirty-three? That was 66 years ago and 3 years after she had transitioned. Dark hues glanced over at the werewolf as she replied with, âAside from the trials and tribulations of being older, I was at a stand stillâŚâ She pondered on the right words and continued with, âIn laymanâs terms, everyone goes through changes regardless of their age. At that time, I was learning to accept those changes while having to adapt. Yet, I was also stuck on this mindset that I needed to think multiple steps ahead just to survive. For you, times have changed - youâre living freely as you could be. So itâs okay if you feel a little different, but I also want to emphasize that you donât have to set expectations for yourself because youâre honestly doing your best. Itâs all about continuing to maintain it and grow for the better. Lifeâs too short anyways and you should be able to have fun with it and not always worry just because of your responsibilities and reputation.âÂ
Once they came to an agreement, Mi-young nodded on their next action steps and thanked Halime for their hard work, âReally appreciate it, hun.â Taking the iPad, she began to work through it from a user experience and made mental notes on what she preferred or would like to enhance. âSounds good and yes, I did want to have control over customizing what I can and canât share.â A look of gratitude can be seen on Mi-youngâs features as she met Halimeâs gaze, âSo far Iâve been quite impressed with what you could deliver. I ask that you provide me with your invoices, so that you can get compensated for the work you do. Treat me as one of your clients, alright?âÂ

OPHELIAâ:
âÂ
It sounded like she was being lectured by one of her old college professors. She lightly bit her lip at the thought of them. Office hours were so much more fun after she learned of their search history, and if she could see that side to this woman, she was sure sheâd find something hilarious to enjoy. âWhat makes you so sureâŚhmm?â Her lips curled into an amused smile. Her coffee sponsor sure looked like she was good at adapting and quick on her feet.Â
âWhat? How is what possible?â  Ophelia knew that she hadnât stuttered and which words Mi-Young had hooked on. Maybe today wasnât so bad; she had found someone interesting, even if just for the fleeting moment. âOh babe, you donât have to tell the world that you havenât lived enough.â She turned, placing her attention back to to the pick-up counter. âMaybe instead of coffee that green could have gone in for some groceries.â The witch muttered and flicked her wrist from her coat pocket, revealing a business card. âAdapting doesnât have to be so hard.â
â§ď˝Ľďž* âžâ
âItâs a general statement, yet a likelihood.â The amusement in the otherâs tone caused the vampire to narrow her gaze suspiciously, âStrange little girlâŚâ she murmured while crossing her arms. âIâve lived plenty and I donât need groceries.âÂ
Leaning against the counter, she watched as the baristas were finishing up their order. Looking back at them, she took their business card and began to thoroughly review it. âI find it situationalâŚâ Pausing, she met their gaze and asked, âSo youâre a contractorâŚ? What am I supposed to do with THIS?â
