emma woodhouse is the funniest austen girl. she has one-sided drama with the most reserved girl who has done nothing but literally just mind her business. she gets angry about not being invited to a social event even though she would have said no just because she would have liked to be asked. she's said she's aiming to read more for years but has never actually read more. she refers to her best friend as being naive and not very smart and kind of manipulates her while simultaneously both complicating her life greatly from the moment they meet to being her ride or die. she is literally The Problem. she denies that she is The Problem. she makes me want to pull my hair out. I love her more than anything.

The thing is I DO consider men who hate the Barbie movie and think it was unfair to men a red flag, because Ken is treated SO sympathetically even though what he does is pretty damn bad. His hurt feelings are validated, his self-worth and healing are encouraged, he's basically immediately forgiven, and Barbie even apologizes for neglecting him and taking him for granted.

And I gotta wonder if what the manosphere really doesn't like is that Ken doesn't get what he originally wanted in the end. Ken's story isn't resolved by Barbie realizing that actually, she's been in love with him all along. She hasn't been, and she doesn't change her mind.

Instead, Ken's story is resolved by realizing that he isn't defined by how Barbie feels about him, and that he is enough (or "Kenough") on his own. He gets forgiveness, support, and validation, but he does NOT get the girl in the end. The girl has her own, separate journey and resolution that has nothing to do with him. And that's GOOD.

But it isn't surprising at all to me that it didn't go over well with a crowd that defines themselves almost entirely by their ability--or lack thereof--to possess and control women.

I brought this unused Loki concept to life!!

I’d been eyeing this stunning design by @aleksibriclot for years, and a little while ago (after two years of working on it) I finally finished it! It has all the dark norse fantasy vibes that I wanted Ragnarok to be, and I figured hey, I can make it myself!

I had to up a lot of my leatherworking skills for this one, and I dove into a lot of new skills as well to try to make all the pieces a cohesive whole. It uses lambskin leather, suede cowhide, and veg tan, as well as an entire sheepskin for the cape!

This whole costume has truly been a labour of Loki love and I’m so glad I was able to share all the madness (process) and the finished look!

after several discussions that left me baffled, let me throw this out to the masses: do you look at ao3's icons when you're looking for a fic to read?

I'm curious, for shows, when is the score recorded? Sometimes it seems like the music is matched exactly with the beats of a conversation or line. I'm wondering if that's because it's lined up in editing or if the music is done close to last and it's conducted to match the show, or a combination. Thanks!

The music is normally written after the picture is "locked". So the composer can and often does score the music around the conversations.

when doctors ask if i have any history of cancer in my family and i have to say that yes my grandmother had 2 types of gastrointestinal cancer and they're like oh wow okay so we'll keep an eye out for that but i'm like no it was probably just all the nuclear radiation and they're like ok hm ok what the fuck do you mean and it's very weird seeing the look on american doctors' faces when you have to explain to them that believe it or not atomic bombs were dropped on this earth 2 generations ago and it did have consequences

thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.
