I'm trying to prove a point to my brain: Reblog if you think fanfiction does not need sex to be good.

There is a trend I’ve noticed that smut fics tend to be much more popular than anything else and honestly I just want to have something to look at to remind myself and that writing doesn’t have to have sex to be worth putting out into the community.

#most of my favorite fanworks have no smut at all #heck #they don't even need to include romance to be good #it can just be silly character interactions #or angsty tear-inducing #it can be silly and excellent - the kind of fic that makes you laugh in public #it can be sad and excellent - the kind of fic that makes you cry #silliness and angst do not require romance or smut #it is just another method of exploring a concept. #(perhaps it's just because I don't read all that many smut fics #but i do feel the need to say that romance and/or smut can also be good fics on their own #they simply aren't the ONLY good fics out there) #wow this got long haha

Joymu: Two characters who we haven't even seen, two characters who were most likely arch-nemeses 800 years ago but we haven't seen them interacting yet. They were bitter enemies and now it's one-sided eternal pining, Imu keeps Joy Boy's hat (probably) in a freezer even after 800 years apart. Buy stocks in Joymu now, when they're low, because they might rise super high when the Void Century flashback happens!

Princess Polycule: I just think that princess polycule. Their interactions at the reverie were fun I think it would be cute. Strawhats accidental matchmaking.

Birds of a Feather: I was enjoying a peaceful night of sleep and woke up going HANG ON because for some reason...yes I dreamed of these two and it has potential you guys. Any Doffy ship is gonna be a little crazy and a little unhinged because... He's Donquixote Doflamingo what do you expect. I love Pell so much, he's absolutely beautiful and incredible and these two are polar opposites. Doffy, representative of the Flamingo a bird of paradise, is cruel and angry and aggressive and just mentally ill in the stereotypical bad way but idk we still like him for whatever reason. And Pell, representative of the Falcon a Bird of Prey, is just so kind and caring he is stern and fights for what he believes in and it's beautiful. They are very yin and yang to me and I think this dynamic could be so interesting and that somehow in the chaos they could find balance and middle ground. Pell please domesticate that Flamingo bastard we would owe you so much actually.

Braidbeard: OKAY LISTEN TO ME. These two old men? Met in their youth and got together with the sole purpose of adopting every single daddy-issues brat in the Grand Line. Zeff beats the shit out of Whitebeard every time they have a meal because of his piss-poor table manners, but then he also brews WB's favourite sake. They love each other very much but suck at showing it, except when it's time to embarrass their children, at which point they have a whole arsenal of sappy pet names. Also Roger officiated their wedding.

HeartFlowers: - A ship with a grumpy guy who hates everyone and the only guy he likes. Two guys who have been through the worst of it all, and would know each other's pain. And the ANGST of canon where Sakazuki, FINALLY opening up again, someone showing him light, only for them to die again. What's not to love? - Several fics have been written about this ship already, including the series "Heart Pirate Sakazuki" (AO3 account needed) that goes long with the art, and Unintended Changes, where Law and Luffy time travel to save their loved ones, which results in Sakazuki being Law's psuedo stepfather.

Sanji's worst nightmare: I just think Sanji would have Nightmares about it, which both Zeff and Ivankov find very appealing about the whole thing.

SaboLaw: it’s so funny. law deals with luffy from punk hazard to wano and turns around and dates his brother. sabo seems like the normal one but he is actually the least sane of the three. they would do fucked up experiments together. they both have reasons to hate the world government as well, and nothing says cute first date like burning down the establishment!

Nami/Uta: Sanji is shacking up with Luffy's brothers, and Nami is getting his sister

Poison Swan: My base for this ship is mostly in headcanons that they're both queers (I headcannon Magellan as asexual), it's a slow burn enemy to reluctantly getting along to having a great time sharing tea and gossips with each other - "Wait, don't Magellan kill Bon clay?" Nope, Bon clay is canonically confirmed alive and the new Queen of the Newkama queendom! So for Bon Clay not only to have gotten away and still getting away with that, there must be a certain fondness there, also this : Bon clay has touched Magellan face at least once before, so that's something to think about - I genuinely see Magellan as just a serious guy that takes his job seriously, hence why there's some animosity there at first, but I think Bon Clay could help making him relax :)
