When I see your art it's always so beautiful! The poses are always so interesting to look at and I feel like it really speaks to your skill as an artist. Do you have any tips for someone trying to learn how to draw poses better?

I love talking about drawing, I just wish I was better at offering clear principles and techniques! But I really think it’s important to be drawing what you love first. Notice how I never draw buildings?🤣 I really should, but keeping to your interests KEEPS you interested in drawing. And stay loose! I heavily rely on loose gesture lines, to get movement and life. That’s my bread and butter. I’m always looking at art/animation/graphic design/etc and trying to be observant of WHY something catches my eye. And I just love people. I like watching how we move, how we occupy space, how our personalities are in our smallest gestures. I think about that a lot when I’m drawing, and try not to waste any opportunity to convey what a character is thinking. Ghibli movies were a great inspiration to me. It’s amazing how those characters can tell you so much without even saying anything. I think it’s also important to find a medium you love. I have a trusty little 6B pencil for traditional drawing, and a digital version for my iPad that really gives me to control and flowy lines that I love. Especially with figure drawing! A good pencil makes me feel like I’m carving out a drawing, like it already exists there. Oh boy I’m not sure if any of this is very helpful 😬
