           Revising my work is very crucial to me because of the errors I might make when I am done with my assignment. One step I take all the time is getting it proofread by someone who is an advance writer because they will point out mistakes you will not see, and the comparison is dramatic. I highly recommend taking that step because it can make the difference from a C+ to a B. My next step I like to take is making an outline and then when I am done, I like to make sure I have all points from the outline checked off. It keeps my paper organized and more understandable to read to the reader then just me. Some tips I got for revision that I take into consideration was seeing a tutor and this school year, it has really helped me to get my writing skills better and more profinite in getting homework done. If someone who is giving me advice on revisioning and are not an advance writer I do not like to follow their advice, but I still take it into consideration. One time a friend of mine told me to revise my work and watch videos. I get very distracted easily and I have to work in a quiet room like for instance, a library. Going to the library is a great way to get your work done in a proficient and timely manner because there is no ruckus or noises going on around you.

           When people gave me good advice on revision, it made me a much better writer today then I was a year ago. A year ago, I was not fixing my common mistakes and sentence structures. My organization is slowly getting where I want to be but overtime it will be fixed. Coming ito college I’d feel very lost in my writing and for incoming freshman, my advice would be to seek writing tutors your college offers. A program are college offers is the Writing Collab. They do a great job communicating and gives good detail if your confused on what you have to write.

           In the chapter “Rethinking Revision,” They talk about making mistakes as the writer and to fix the common mistakes people would make and to look out for them when revising a paper. Having common mistakes can get the reader off track on what you are mainly talking about and that is why it is important to go back and fix these mistakes you have made. When fixing common mistakes, It will make your essay or project much more presentable to the audience. An example that the book gave for revision was peer review. Peer review is a great way to fix common errors for writers because you might not have seen something, and they spotted it.

1.     What is your problem?

My problem is figuring out ways to help low income students find ways to help pay for college.

2.     What can you do about it?

Find sources/programs/scholarships maybe they can use to be able to pay for higher education without stress.

3.     How are you going to make this local?

Make a website and post it on my personal social media platforms. Social media today is a great tool to use because everyone will see it on my following.

4.     Who is your audience?

My audience is low income students who are interesting in attending college but feel like they canot afford to pay for higher education.

5.     How can you persuade that audience to act with you?

I will give the audience tools to apply for grants and scholarships. Also, I will back up my evidence with the facts I stated in my annotated bibliography to help persuade students.

           Anime today is a growing industry and people are starting to come to a liking of it. A popular show that I myself and loved by many others is Tokyo Ghoul and created by Sui Ishida. Tokyo Ghoul is mainly about a human named Kaneki who turned into a half ghoul/half human and goes through different phases as each season progresses.

Kaneki at the beginning of his ghoul journey takes it very concerning and worries about being a ghoul because of the total opposite eating habits. For ghouls to survive they need to eat human flesh, so you can tell Kaneki will not be taking this so lightly. As the story goes on, he meets ghouls who run a small coffee shop and they took him in as one of their own, so he adapts to this new culture. Kaneki soon figures out that he wants peace between the humans and ghouls. He understands both sides since he has experience of being a regular human being who once portrayed the ghouls as some evil, flesh eating creatures.

   The Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) is a group in the tv series and they are the officers who are trying to exterminate the ghouls. The CCG do not understand that ghouls has feelings too and they are just like humans also they don’t have the choice becoming a “monster” as the CCG say. Our government today do not understand the people’s feelings even though we do not have ghouls in our world. It all comes down to other people who are higher ranked to make decisions on certain topics. Kaneki at the end of season 1 says “It's not the world that's messed up; it's those of us in it. Yes, some ghouls walk a path that leaves sorrow in their wake, but just like humans, we can choose a different path altogether. Because when it comes to the state of the world, you can't point your finger at ghouls or humans,” he states a really good point here on why the world is where it is today because of corruption everywhere.

The government and us, the people want to make changes to this world, but everyone has different thoughts on certain topics like immigration and warfare. There are ways out there were the government and citizens of the united states can work together to make this country a much happier place. It takes time for these thoughts to evolve and actually happen. Kaneki just wants peace between the two groups, and he thinks they can make this idea become reality. He gets this thought because ghouls took him in with care and showed them their ways on not killing humans and supplement for human flesh.

Kaneki becomes a major game changer because he becomes a ghoul king, the strongest of all ghouls. Kaneki does what he said he was going to do and at the end his goal became real. Sometimes goals as citizens might not work with the government because they don’t see or feel what citizens have.

           Research for a project and finding material you can use to back up you evidence can be very difficult at time because you may not have picked a broad topic to talk about. When I am choosing a topic to talk about, I usually pick one I can relate to and have experience because it will show the reader you are more confident in your work you produce. Second, choose an article that is coming from a reliable source. RxMuscle which is a bodybuilding news youtuber and news are a reliable source because they are at the shows and work with the professional bodybuilding federation. Also, articles like The New York Times and The Washington Post are both legit sources that you can trust. Some sources like Fox News are more heavily biased for Republicans, so when your analyzing the article make sure it’s on both sides of an agreement. The last step I like to use is to make sure you are giving credit to the reporter. It is crucial to share this information because you don’t want to hand in a paper with no citations. Giving no citations will result in a failing grade and worse.

           I recently did a rhetorical analysis on a program I did over the summer which was the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). I first made sure I enjoyed the article I was reading because I typically tend to forget what I read if I do not like it. The article I read was by The Hechinger Report and it was such a great read because the writer of the article used a lot of quotations that the actual students said. While I was reading this report I felt very connected to kids at the NJIT program because of the pain and struggles they went through.

           Making sure this source was reliable was a big play for me because I didn’t want to be writing about an article with false information about it. I checked out there about page and found lots of good reliable info and awards they have received. Right off the bat I could tell The Hechinger Report was legit and professional by the way the website was set up. It had bright yellow color borders and no advertisement’s anywhere on the site. The author of the article had written for The Washington Post and many more famous news report websites.

           Citations are huge and I made sure I had someone read over my paper for any missed citations I had. Getting a failing grade over a small mistake of forgetting citations is terrible especially maybe on how good you did that paper. I recently learned about citating my work over the summer because my high school would just tell us to put the article link at the bottom. Follow the guidelines of a paper according to your professor’s syllabus. It can be either APA or MLA, but those are not the only formats there is.

           These 3 tips I gave is what helping me succeed right now for my college papers. After reading my 3 tips and descriptions for each one, I hope you take them into consideration.

Working collaboratively is a great way to get work done in an efficient and timely matter, although, sometimes you may run into problems within the group. There are several positive outcomes from working together with others that include less individual stress, less of an individual workload, and the ability to work within one’s own talents, as well as, benefiting from someone else’s talents. Positive outcomes of working with a group include less stress and stress relief can benefit you with the project. Having work divided up reliefs the workload that is put on you. Having to meet a deadline is crucial and you never want to be late. Working with peers will help meet that deadline the project is due and work in a timely manner. Also, peers will have special talents to help meet the deadline and some examples can be people efficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

With that being said, you might run into problems trying to come up with ideas, friends and peers are a great way to help you resolve the problem your targeting and build upon on. Three pitfalls of working together can be poor engagement, miscommunication, and negative Nancy’s. Having poor engagement with the group can affect the quality and deadline by someone not pulling their own weight on the project. Having a weak link in the group is bad and you should try to figure out a solution as soon as possible. To solve this, you can ask them if there’s anything going on, maybe stress, or they might just be lazy. Miscommunication can put more stress and work on another peer because maybe someone didn’t show up to the library because they thought it was the next day. Making sure everyone is on the same page is crucial for team success and one way to resolve this can be a group chat. Send a text the same day saying, “hey we are meeting up at 3:00pm at the library, say ok if you will be there.” Finding out dates everyone can make it at the same time and what works best in everyone’s schedule can help too. I dread negative nancy’s because all they do is bring the group down and making someone think negatively. They might say something like “were not going to get this project done,” but they might be looking at it in a different perspective then other peers within the group. Other peers will say “we will get this project done in time” and people like this are the ones you want in the group.

           Over the past summer, I had a group presentation project I had to do with my peers in my class. We all told each other on what we should each do and accounted each other for the work. The project was simple and was based upon people on other groups. There was a group chat that was made the same day we were all assigned the project so there wasn’t any miscommunication. We set a time to meet in the library together a week out from the final due date. The project was done within an hour. Most groups waited last minute to finish there project which is something you shouldn’t do when doing a group presentation project. Someone might not be able to make it and then the next day the group might get points taking off because someone didn’t present.

           Making silly and not working in a timely manner can greatly affect the work and stress on others. It’s important to stay ahead of the game and get work done as soon as possible because due dates come sooner than people think. You don’t want to be the one batch of students who don’t have something to hand in.

           Podcasts today are used for many different reasons for people to hear a discussion of two or more people are having.

           A top podcast today is by Joe Budden and it is called The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory & Mal. This podcast is about Joe Budden and his friends Rory & Mal and they talk about crazy adventures they had. Joe Budden is a very famous celebrity and is also known for his music he makes but now focuses more on communications.

           Using a podcast instead of saying it in a video, is a great way to involve your audience to what they are listening too. Instead of not seeing the person talk on video, it will make the listeners take in what you are saying to a better understanding. Videos can distract the viewers to what they are listening to and this can greatly affect the content the user put out. They might be distracted by an image the user put in the video. Typically, viewers analyze instead of listening.

           IMessage audio plays a huge role in todays society when sending audio text to a person. My friend has a hard time texting, so they use the audio message feature to send a message. The reason being is because she isn’t from this country and her English skills are not as good as others. Also, it is faster to send an audio text for an ongoing conversation. The time when me and her was texting back and forth was about some drama. Me and her was caught up in a toxic friend relationship with someone that would use us. Describing feelings on via text can be very hard because it’s just so many words to type. Especially for my friend and they have a tough time as it is.

           Texting and having a long conversation can hurt your fingers sometimes, because you are abusing your muscles in the hands. With just a simple button you can press on your iPhone, you can send a more clear and easier way to send a message. This is the main reason I like to use audio message instead of sending a regular via text. Sometimes there might be some downfalls also coming with this nice audio messaging system. Sometimes it will lag on you, which will stutter the audio. IOS, which is Apple’s software system is improving it every update and trying to make it a superior/finer way.

           At the end it’s all about preference and what you like. Some people don’t like hearing themselves talk into the phone and that’s why they prefer to text. Having a feature like audio message is such a great innovation because some people may not know how to write and type properly. My grandmother is also a user of this because she does not know how to text on a smartphone. Reasons being like this is why audio messaging is such an important piece to texting and communicating to others.

           A time where I had a rhetorical situation was when I was trying to get a promotion for Harmon Face Values as a supervisor.

           To begin with, I applied as a cashier when I first started, and it was a hard position for my first job. As a first job it can be hard, because everything is fast paced, and it is hard to get used to this flow of motion. Customers will yell and scream at you because of you mistakes that you are making, but they do not know that you just started working. You will meet very nice customers and they be the ones to support you against an overreacting customer. The overreacting customers are a problem, because employees are building stress up due to them, which causes their work to be sloppier and that was my problem. I soon have to overcome these problems. The reason being is because I was getting paid too low for the number of customers I would deal with and work. I felt like I wasn’t getting the right check that I deserve. Making a commitment to try and become a supervisor was a big, and I knew I had to start working harder than ever.

           My boss Paul is cares for each one of his employees and he will fight for fair pay when you ask him. He knew my struggles at home, and I was desperate for more money. Are recent supervisor had to leave because she was moving, so the spot was open to anyone. Paul noticed my work and dedication to the store and promoted me to become a supervisor. The competition was hard for me. There was another woman who started the same time as me, and she has a family to take care of. She was getting paid the same amount which was $8.60. since we were both looking for money, she was promoted to become a cosmetician and I was promoted supervisor in which ended up good for both of us.

           The day I was asked to become a supervisor was a tough choice, because I applied to other jobs that were part time and paying more for cashiers. The company really wanted me to stay, so the decision to stay was difficult because of the friends and connections I made during my time here. I had to think about the negatives and positives of getting a new job. My decision was to stay because me a Paul had this relationship as friends. I almost looked at him like he was my own father sometimes. We still text to this day ever since I left this past summer. It was really hard to leave my job because I can remember those days I wanted to call out for the day, but I didn’t. I’ve never called out once which I’m really happy to say that. I appreciate everything the company had done for me. For myself, I’ve made the best decision to stay and making decisions like this can really impact your future. Its important to look and the negative and positives for your future.

BLOG POST 2!!! ENJOY

           Every champion has a process on getting where they want to be, and the road can be difficult to achieve.

           Writing a 5-page paper can be a process also because your professor may want certain needs, they want you to obtain. At the end of the goal, it’s always nice because getting that certification of gratitude towards yourself and feeling happiness that you went through hell and back just to get that paper done. If you ask any writer, they love what they do, and that is writing but for some people its stressful when they here words of a prolonged essay. The grind is what really matters because if it’s easy, then you’re doing it wrong! Some of you guys might be scared right now but trust me nothing in life will be easy. It’s what you make of it and I’m trying to make the best of it now while I still can, you should too.

I want this blog post to motivate for anyone who sees it. This page is to motivate the ones who really are about it. This can conclude the people who will do whatever it takes to achieve certain goal that will satisfy their needs in this short life. For me my goal is to graduate college, be stable financially, and healthy. They always say, “health is wealth” and I’m a true believer in that. If your physically and mentally not healthy then how are you ever able to obtain your holy grail of success?

The process of writing a really good paper is difficult to achieve because there’s so many factors that play, it’s impossible to write a perfect paper. It is possible to write a good paper its just you have to put the time in to achieve it. My process involves people to check my work over and over because I tend to get off track and splurge a lot. I’m very inconsistent with my writing because sometimes it will be really good, or it looks like a 4thgrader wrote the paper. Today I’m trying to use more advance words to enhance my writing. By doing this, I’ve noticed writing more and more papers has been helping me tend to be on the side of a good paper. The Writing Collab has helped me tremendously over this past summer and I would advise any freshman to see them at least once or twice for a paper.

Getting your papers advise will make the difference from a B to an A grade. This can dramatically make your papers better and make you stand out from the rest of the class. My first drafts always have lots of mistakes. It’s my first draft so it should always have mistakes. I now never hand in a paper without getting it advised at least once because I know if I don’t, my paper won’t be a paper that stands out. The process of writing can be difficult and most of all frustrating because every little mistake might account towards you. Even a spelling error can take a huge deduction from your grade. It all depends on you on how much time you want to put into your work and craft.

My first blog post!!!!

           A story is a path that someone or something took to get from somewhere to where they are today.

           There are many definitions out there on what the meaning of a story is, and you’ll hear multiple opinions. Most people will be creative on how they show or describe the story they share. What they contain is information that most wont share to their audience and this can retain their background and accomplishments. In most celebrities and athletes, you’ll notice the background on how rough their childhood growing up was. Some may not be to pretty but having that side could be an advantage to them. When I mean by an advantage is to be motivated from your past trauma because it lights a spark on you. Hearing these stories can really put an impact on someone’s life to make them inspired to be great.

           Important elements of a good story can really benefit you into ideas to create a more believable and down to the heart telling. For me, there has to be reason for telling the story. Without reason you won’t have proof to back up and convince the listeners what you’re saying. Reason to listen to the story will draw more people to be inspired and impact the state of mind. The only way you will have someone listen to you if there is evidence backing up to what your showing. Having a powerful, and inspirational telling can really provide them to want to ask questions and put reasons to stay positive.

           According to Maxwell and Dickman the story has to show and not tell. The emotions of telling a story can draw to the reader more to an interest. People will believe it more if it is coming from the heart rather it just be the same telling. Have faith in your words was also Maxwell and Dickman saying in what makes a good story. Trust what you’re saying to your listeners because I’d rather wing it and believe what I’m saying then something I don’t know.  Also, it states to have trust on the entire story. By this ill state it by saying to be more positive in what it is about. If it’s about you and you’re not lying about it, the audience will find it more interesting.

           I once saw this video of an IFBB PRO which stands for International Federation of Bodybuilders and Kai Greene was the main athlete in it. His story was so incredible and impacted many kids who couldn’t play sports because of their injuries from concussions. Bodybuilding is a sport where there’s a minimum risk of injury and that’s why it such a growing field to play in. In the video you will hear him say “it’s like you have to save your own life.” He brings up his past memory about his family then going into a foster home. Being so low in his life he shows that anything is possible no matter what kind of circumstances you have. Reasons like this is why the listener is so attracted to it because they want more. Coming from poverty and in the streets of Brooklyn, NY, is tuff to begin with. Lots of violence comes along living in areas like this one. Today he is in a much better place than he was growing up. Social media is a big area where fitness enthusiast show off today to present supplements and E-books. Kai Greene takes full advantage of that with a whopping 5.2 million followers.

           A story can be many things, but it always shows how a person or thing got from point A to where they are today. Audience can be inspired by these types of powerful tales. Tales that change the state of mind of someone by just saying this one quote. This is why I think health/fitness is such a valuable part to life. Everything around you just become better from where you’re starting at.
