You cannot achieve freedom by fulfilling your desires, but only by eliminating them.
Epictetus D4.1
Now this is a thought worth pondering. This gets to the core of Stoicism. I take this to mean that instead of longing for an event, possession, relationship I simply accept what comes my way. Focus on living a life of virtue rather than expectation. It’s worth trying I think.

Don't be hard to please. Don't complain about trivial things.
Epictetus D4.4
A simple instruction but wouldn’t the world be an easier place to navigate if everyone took this to heart?

I pay attention to other people’s words and actions. I don’t do this
looking for an opportunity to criticize or ridicule them but to make sure
that I don’t make the same mistakes.

Why not enjoy the feast and pageant while you are able?
Epictetus D4.1

The Dalai Lama
This is a challenge because there are so many things to be angry about these days. But as usual, TDL makes an important point.
