on the left is the original 7inch vinyl cover for pink floyd’s the wall, on the right is my version of it, I made it with old magazine cut-outs from the 50s and feel the colours represented the tone of the song well.

this video has an interesting movement of shapes and patterns, also repetitive however drained of colour yet still interesting to look at.

Experimenting with Vinyl covers
the session where we created 7 inch vinyl covers was a lot of fun, I had brought in Pink Floyd’s The Wall and changed the cover using old magazines and some pen. The cover I created I feel reflected the tone of the song rather than the themes evoked in the song.

Experimental video found on vimeo by David Tang this kind of repetitive video has a structure I wanted to replicate, its cyclical and stays in your mind.

20hz semiconductor - Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt https://vimeo.com/30668685
I had seen this video about a year ago in the turner gallery in margate. I had not used it for reference until now, but upon hearing the brief I realised this kind of experimental video stayed in my mind, thats the kind of effect I want for my video.

Evaluation of Music Video
The music video was a lot of fun to edit with, to make video captured from film and to turn it into a trippy video for an electronic song was a lot of fun, I don’t like electronic music but making a music video for it was an interesting challenge. Making something themed around something I’m not familiar with. I approached the learning outcomes with scepticism, I wasn’t sure of the connection between the analogue video and turning it to digital, however through many premiere effects and hours of rendering I turned a video of a water-pipe into a psychedelic music video. However I met these outcomes surprisingly well, I adapted to a project of things I didn’t know about and made something familiar. Being inspired by Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt’s 20hz semiconductor video, I managed to create something inspired by something I had no idea how to create.
I cut up the pieces of video, added many effects in premiere pro, and changed the colour, raising the blue, then I experimented by multiplying the video loop I had made by four and putting them in each corner. This created a cyclical effect that suited the electronic music I had made, the music was made through club penguin, a child’s game, this was an odd experiment to say the least, but in the end the music matched the video.

Used DJ game from Club Penguin to make music for the video. A big problem I encountered was that I was unable to hear the music as it was being recorded, so this was done by estimating the right timing to press each button, very simple process to make music. The music is terrible and not my type of music however I feel it suits the movement of the video.

used video made in premiere pro and repeated it so that it matched the length of the music.
