PSA: Potential soft-lock in Endless Ocean Luminous!!

recently, both japanese and english speaking endless ocean communities have been discussing a potential bug that prevents completion of the story. i want to spread awareness of the bug, so players can know what to avoid, and whether or not their game has been affected.

in order to explain the bug, i'll have to get into spoiler territory... for those looking to avoid spoilers, please stop reading here!

so... below the cut is everything we know so far:

this issue is related to mystery board square 55. since completion of the story is tied to completing the mystery board, this soft-locks the player from completing the story.

the intended way to complete this mission is as follows:

the player salvages a message in a bottle called the "squire's memoir" containing a hint to this mission's completion, which then unlocks the ability for a mystery box (the black boxes containing a set salvage, that glow blue before you open them) to appear. the location of the mystery box is supposed to be at this structure, with the set salvage within it being the "caduceus":

if the player has salvaged a "caduceus" before finding it in this location, this is what is believed to trigger the bug. my guess is that it's a small internal flag error, assuming the player has already found the mystery box when they salvage this particular treasure, which makes the game assume mystery board 55 has been completed without giving the correct completion flag.

the only way to avoid this is either to get lucky with salvaging and avoid picking up this salvage randomly... or to just avoid salvaging altogether (aside from picking up the message in a bottle required to trigger the mission) until mystery board square 55 has been completed.

this is only the current working theory, so if anyone here has any personal experience that would disprove this, or any additional information, please let me know!!

here's hoping arika is already working on a patch, or... that we can cause a big enough stink about this to get them working on one. thank you for reading, and please spread the word around to other luminous players so we can get to the bottom of this together!
