yall wanna see how hard i can hyperfixate or—
(book rec list under cut im sorry it’s long!!!!)
1. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. (book 1 is Eragon) listen this one really is super not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s my all time so i GODDA recommend it. it’s high fantasy dnd type shit about a farm boy who discovers a dragon egg. the main series is 4 books, there’s a collection of short stories, and a new continuation series about my absolute favorite little blorbo just started. it looks like a LOT to commit to but rly just try out eragon and if ur not in love with it don’t worry abt the rest lmao
2. The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga. this one has such a Feeling to it. it’s about a high school boy who wants to be a comic artist and is trying to go to a convention to show brian michael bendis his art. it’s Very 2006™ and is Relatable in that way where you’ve grown out of it by now but by god u remember those feelings and it hits.. it’s also a quicker, easier read which can be good to start with when ur trying to get back into reading. reading shorter things means finishing things faster, which boosts confidence and encourages u to keep goin!!
3. The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer. i cannot recommend this one enough im literally so fucking obsessed with it but be ware oh my GOD it is SAD. it ends well!! but there’s some middle bits that are Rough and fucked me up i was thinking abt it for weeks. it’s abt 2 astronauts waking up in the middle of a mission with no memory of how they got there. they start to find weird shit in their ship that looks like someone was killed but they’re supposed to be the only ones on board.
4. What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo. a girl who was mysteriously sent away to boarding school runs away back home to her family of werewolves! this one is one of those slow burn mysteries that’s actually done suuuper well. u get just enough information to make guesses but never quite enough to be sure until it’s Time for u to know.
5. Slewfoot by Brom. idek how to describe this one in a way that properly conveys it!! it’s one of my favorite things ive ever read it is So good that’s all i can rly say. its colonial america and a recently violently widowed and very distraught and abused woman maybe accidentally befriends and then dates satan u know girlboss shit
6. Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley. ALRIGHT THIS ONES FOR US EMO KIDS BABY this one is like,, somewhere between middle grade and YA reading level and it has such a special place in my stupid fucking clandestine heart lmao. emo introvert chokes on a gummy bear and fucking dies and is a ghost it’s,, like Tonya was One of Us u just feel it when u read it. Tonya was there. she gets it.
7. and a general recommendation is to read kids books for funsies as a starter or as a treat between bigger books :> animorphs wishbone and goosebumps were the ones i liked a lot so sometimes i reread my favorites as a brain snack. goosebumps is all online for free too 👀 if I can track down the link again I can dm it to u
tbh i think i need to read more books

I've heard of them, yes. I don't expect they have any social media either.

Paul Thomas bassist from Good Charlotte circa 2002 would like a word about when split dyes did or did not first appear in emo fashion scenes
teen girl angel with one white wing and one black wing, not because of any angsty fall from grace or demonic parentage, but because she's an emo who thinks split dye looks cool
