okay, i’ll be real honest, i’ve never understood the concept of... stalking a blog? i guess it’s just like, checking up on a blog you don’t follow? idk. i don’t really tend to pay a lot of attention to blogs outside my very small sphere, i don’t think, which is probably what lends to me being not very active/big, but like... i’d rather build a small, comfortable circle that i wanna interact with than start worrying about the numbers, yknow?

regardless - i think the last time i paid real attention to a blog i didn’t follow for anything more than checking the rules/scoping out their writing had to have been more than few years ago, when i was in the in-character rp blog circuit - i’d been unceremoniously blocked by a mutual who very much enjoyed writing callout posts, & i was curious if they’d have anything to say about me? that only lasted a few days, one bc i got bored of it, & two bc i realized their block came right after i’d posted abt being tired of tumblr continuously suggesting blogs by the same vitriolic little ace exclusionist, &, well. being blocked by an aphobe is just the trash taking itself out, so i wasn’t too worried anymore.

family headcanons. chamber edition.

~ despite the starsmores being a minor family of clan akkaba during the time of jono’s great-grandfather, the massacre of the clan by vampires left them as one of the only remaining families, & so the starsmores ended up with considerable wealth & property redistributed from the fallen families of akkaba. jono grew up more than comfortable, which was how he met his teenage girlfriend, gayle - both came from wealthy families, though jono chose to strike out on his own after graduating secondary school at sixteen, while gayle was still reliant on the edgertons.

~ jono’s father may not have liked jack starsmore’s talk of clan akkaba, nor actively participated in the cult, but he still allowed jack to tattoo jono with the mark of the clan before he was ten- a large tattoo across his chest, like the prominent families of clan akkaba had once done. this traumatized jono severely, & it took him until his late teens to be comfortable getting any body modifications, & his mid-twenties to go back under a tattoo machine.

~ the starsmores are descended not just from apocalypse, but from the line of the first horseman of war, hence the starsmore family’s affinity for fire. because of war’s confinement to arakko, the relation is slightly distant, which led to jack starsmore’s abilities & blood being considered rather weak compared to families who were more closely descended from apocalypse - had any of them known the importance of his connection to apocalypse’s first family & one of his favored daughters, though, the starsmore clan may have been treated very differently, for better or for worse.

powers headcanons. stasis edition.

~ it took over a decade for pearce to reach the point where their powers no longer reject their daily medication without a concentrated effort from them. starting after they realized their abilities & started studying themself to figure out just what the hell was going on, testing their reaction to drugs became a long process of trial & error, including seeking medication for their anxiety & hoping they could finally find a way to make it work. where they used to have to focus on making sure their blood didn’t automatically “clean” the medication out & instead allowed it to be processed normally, years of daily practice & focus have made it an unconscious habit, only interrupted when they change dosage or prescription.

~ their blood is still resistant to other drugs, such as alcohol, caffeine, & painkillers, & their powers expel them from pearce’s blood chemistry with prejudice unless they focus on keeping the foreign substance in their blood - or take enough of their drug of choice to overwhelm their system, something they’ve tried to avoid doing since their college days ended.

I'd read in Avalanche's Marvel Bio that he is (or was) married. Do you have any headcanons about his wife and their relationship?

y’know i was literally just thinking about this, after the post about dom’s dreams and fears - especially since this marriage resulted in a child, which - look i have my objections to that, first and foremost that she voluntarily worked for the damn red skull but i guess they needed an excuse/personal vendetta to drag dominic into that whole plot which. still is weak and flimsy as hell, seeing as that’s literally the first time we hear anything about this child/dom’s marriage, but anyways -

~ i don’t think dominic’s marriage was, necessarily, something he chose. he felt he was still young, and content with where he was - he was also a little bit of a romantic, and sort of just thought that he’d stumble into love one day and it’d be something perfect. his family felt, however, that he was in his mid-twenties and being lazy about the whole thing, and that a friend of a friend of the family had a lovely daughter who also needed to get married, and here, helen’s pretty, and hardworking, and everything a wife should be - you should love her.

~ dom tried. he tried really, really damn hard, and i think he may have loved helen - and i think that’s what led him to hold his tongue about his powers before they got married. he couldn’t tell her and have that spoil things - he knew there was stigma against mutants, he knew his powers weren’t the safest, and if her family found out she was marrying a mutant, or the wider community, and she ended up shunned and miserable instead of happily married - he couldn’t do that to her. he wanted this to work, for both their sake, and so he didn’t tell her.

~ she had to find out eventually. on days when dom got migraines, when it was particularly bad and felt like an icepick through his skull, he refused to touch her, even gently, even a little, and she wanted to know why. she wanted to understand why the slightest twinge in his head made him pull his hands away from her, or why he never seemed to get too emotional, in any direction, good or bad - sure, he didn’t get angry, but was he happy? and so he took her out to the garden and showed her - the way the earth rolled under his command, tearing up the hard work he’d done to the backyard, cracks appearing in the carefully manicured grass. his emotions, his headaches - they made his powers harder to control. and he never, ever wanted to hurt anyone with them, especially her.

~ things went sour quickly. their daughter was already on the way but - helen wanted nothing to do with dominic. she didn’t care about the efforts he’d put into this to make her happy and keep her safe and be - everything she could have asked for. she was scared, sure, part of dom had expected that, but she also seemed disgusted that she’d ever let dominic put his hands on her at all - that her husband, the father of her child, was a mutant.

~ when she told him to leave, he did as she asked. it broke his heart.

What is Avalanche's worst fear? His greatest desire?

dominic’s worst fear is loneliness.

he’s seen so many people that he took up with die, he’s lost so much, he’s put himself in so many bad situations just to feel some connection - he doesn’t want to be alone. he fears losing people, especially to death, which was why he chose to save crimson commando’s life, after losing destiny, losing stonewall, losing super sabre - why he was willing to leave the others behind, because they were alive and could, hopefully, one day, be retrieved - but commando couldn’t, if dom let him die. so he couldn’t let that happen.

krakoa, however, presents a conundrum - mutants don’t have to die on krakoa. the end is not the end. so the only way for dom to be alone on krakoa is if he drives people away. he fears doing that most of all.

his greatest desire is family.

he wants stability and connection, a group of people that are his and he is theirs - and, yes, they might fight, they might have their differences, their moments where they need a break or some time apart, but they come back together and can count on each other. he wants that, desperately, badly, even on days when he’s feeling paranoid and itchy and ready to lash out at the first person who looks at him wrong - he wants to have someone who will be there even when he does lash out. people who understand him, and bad days, and fighting with yourself as much as you do anyone else.

he wants to be able to give that love and understanding as much as he receives it, to people that will stay and will feel worth it. he wants to put effort into something that will grow and flourish and be strong.

What are your top 5 ships for Chamber/Jono, and wHY? (canon or fanon or RP wise)

oh gosh. this is gonna be looong & involve comic panels so - follow me under the cut if you dare?

#1 has to be chamberlee.

yes, i know, this is basic, it’s canon, but they’re so good, even before you get to the modern era. they were sweet & fun & cared about each other since gen x v1, & lee was one of the people who could get jono to not only open up but loosen up - jono always strayed towards the angsty side of being a teen, & lee was able to ignore that & get him to have some fun -

i’ll also be quite honest & say i don’t tend to write/see them as romantically involved? like, it can be done, totally, but i prefer them as queerplatonic partners, coparenting shogo together (& YES that is jono’s SON we ignore what canon had jono do with shogo tyvm), & i headcanon that jono finds it pretty funny when paige tries to give him a shovel talk by comparing jono & lee’s relationship to jono’s old one with paige, because they’re just worlds different in jono’s eyes.

#2 is jono/angelo.

like with lee, i absolutely adored jono’s interactions with skin in gen x, & found them to be such an interesting & compelling duo? both of them dealt with physical mutation & their lives being basically ruined, but where jono was a pessimist about it, angelo was eternally optimistic instead? there were definitely times when angelo’s flippancy with jono bothered me, but, looking back on it, angelo got the most where jono was coming from, & was often trying to help keep his friend’s head above water when he was spiraling badly. for all his complaining, though, jono genuinely adored angelo, & the two of them connected a lot over the course of the comic (their cross country road trip!) & i’ll forever love that angelo is the one person jono calls ‘sunshine’ besides paige.

basically, marvel, resurrected krakoan skin/chamber shenanigans when.

#3 is jonpheth, or chamber/maggott.

this is, admittedly, entirely an invention of me & my bf, who is the japheth to my jono in our private rps, with the basis that jono & japheth did actually interact in canon that one time - ! seriously, tho, we ran with the idea of japheth staying with generation x like he was initially supposed to instead of leaving after one issue, & explored the ways the two of them could connect - like jono, japheth’s mutation (his intestines being transformed into two large slugs that could leave his body & consume pretty much anything) left him with a literal hole in him, one he had to worry about consuming him (japheth’s girls ate their way back inside japheth for digestion, while jono’s fire was burning up his physical form more every time he used it) & also destroying things around him & potentially even hurting people - japheth’s girls could eat anything & he was terrified of them murdering a person at one point, just like jono had to worry about destroying things & hurting people with his manifested powers. we just felt the two of them could connect on a lot, & it’d be interesting to see how bold, flirtatious japheth mixed with awkward, closed-off jono - especially since japheth was someone who wouldn’t turn tail & flee from the nastier parts of jono like a lot of the humans who tended to hit on him.

i also maybe just think twiggy lil 5′9 jono being swept off his feet by japheth’s canonically buff 6′8 self is uhhhh kinda great as hell. & that the idea of japheth calling jono “skatjie” (afrikaans term of endearment that can literally be translated as “small treasure”) is just. the cutest.

#4 is chamberine.

...okay LOOK. look. okay. i just think logan being an ass to the moody little goth he’s gotta watch during uncanny x-men is a good basis for a ship, okay. i’m a simple person - if they can bicker & then fall into bed together, i’m into it! i also think that it’d be interesting during jono’s time undercover with the weapon x program - meeting logan in a bar to report in, only to end up shoved up against a wall with logan thoroughly exploring his reconstructed mouth.

these two butt heads & i just love it, honestly, jono’s dry, sarcastic self up against bobby’s irritating penchant for puns & loud attitude. i also, sue me, just love the idea of bobby, still closeted, not understanding why the pretty, moody goth twink that joined the team makes him so damn mad - only to look back on it years later & realize, oh, that was frustration, because jono was walking around in tight leather all the time looking like some sort of punk rock wet dream.
