Sokka had been terrified during the whole ordeal. Illness and healing was not his specialty but he didn't want to lose his new friend. He didn't want anyone to die on his watch. In the back of his mind still was his sister and his friends. Maybe they would be able to escape on their own?

The boy had been doing his best to keep watch as long as he could, trying to only lay down and nap a few hours before dawn so that the sun would hopefully wake him. This time when he woke his heart leapt when he saw Kai instead of the sun.

"Kai!" He cheared, beaming, the subtle touch shot a sense of warmth through him that caused his face to flush. As goal oriented as Sokka tried to be, it was becoming harder and harder for him to deny his growing feelings for the other boy.

It was almost a week before Kai recovered and during that time, Sokka had seen it all.

Kai burning up and feverish, sweat covering his nude body and then shivering with cold. Kai talking to himself, muttering nonsense at times and then seemingly talking to people at other times. Sokka did his best to keep him fed with broth and bathed in a sponge bath as he tried to keep the feverish airbender clean and tended to, while occasionally dodging air blasts that Kai sent out every now and then.

Finally awake, Kai groaned as he opened his eyes and saw the exhausted Sokka sleeping nearby. It didn’t take him long to see that it had been some time and he quickly ate some nuts and fruits left nearby and downed almost a whole bowl of water as he recovered. Shushing Appa, so as not to wake Sokka, Kai leaned over the other and kissed his forehead before going out for a much-needed real bath and then came back dressed in his air temple robes and smiled at Sokka when he finally woke.

“Hi…” Kai said as he rested his hand on Sokka’s belly. He had already had feelings for Sokka, but now it was confirmed, he was a loyal keeper and he loved him for it.

I finally saw the venture bros movie, it was so good and I'm so sad it's over, I really don't want to say goodbye to this show but it was a really great ending
