So do I. I do hope that it will be interesting as there is probably nothing I hate more than easy competition. I should hope so, a lack of any spirit is not exactly attractive. Well, what can I say? Being competitive is like second nature. What is the point in doing anything with the possibility of failing?
Tumblr media
As far as your concerned, you don't exactly make it easy for people to mistake your confidence for cockiness- it is rather similar. Confident and modest too? Such perfect traits you have there Lucius. My eyes see a lot and my vision is not blurred that a certain amount of your housemates keep disappearing into the forbidden forest in the dead of night- and the whispers of a so called dark lord is on the rise. And I am not blind to the fact that the two are somehow linked. Tell me Lucius, do you join your housemates in their activities?
Good afternoon,
Alright well then we will prove it on the Pitch. Slytherin vs Ravenclaw- I look forward to it. I wasn’t implying any lack of competitive spirit, believe me. I know all about the competitive spirit of Pureblood females. It’s rather invigorating to watch.
Tumblr media
Don’t confuse my confidence for cockiness. Of course you don’t, sweetheart. Oh you do huh? What do your innocent eyes see exactly? Besides my perfect facial structure and toned body.

"Amycus." Ana replied, copying Amycus' greeting nod. Anastasia flattened down a couple of stray hairs back in her ponytail before spinning on her heels in order to face her company, "I fancied a ride, just wanted to loosen up before practice," she said simply, having the feeling that Amycus was as much interested in what she had to say as him to her. "What about you? I wasn't expecting anyone around here at this time," she asked curiously. Ana wasn't one to share and she never much liked thinking that she would have a couple of hours to herself until someone; no matter who that person was, came along and disturbed her peace. Down by the lake it was Mary, and now on the pitch, it was Amycus.
She began pulling on her gloves and shin pads when Amycus made the sarky comment. Her eyes shot up at him with daggers, "Ha. Ha. Very funny..." she said, tying the knots a little quicker in a hope that it would become less embarrassing once she got out of the shed and onto the quidditch field; Anastasia racked her brain to think of some sort of smart remark to bite back at Amycus with, but nothing came to her- something she also disliked greatly. There was something about that particular Slytherin that was both unsettling and intriguing; something which made Anastasia particularly curious. Ana pulled on her goggles, letting them fall around her neck. She would only put them on before lifting off- due to her vanity which was clearly shown earlier.
She nodded curtly, a smile replacing the unamused expression on her face before she grabbed her broom and exited the supplies shed. She waiting for Amycus to shut the door and the two walked alongside each other towards the pitch. "Any ideas when you start practice then?" She asked, trying to attempt some form of ordinary conversation with the un-ordinary Slytherin.
Ana entered the pitch through the stands and jogged towards the centre of the pitch. "Fancy a game?" she asked, pulling her goggles up to her eyes tightly as she placed her leg over the broom and positioned herself to set off. There was not much point in trying to hide what she looked like now, even though she classed Amycus as someone she should make the effort for due to the fact that she already looked like an idiot in front of him. Plus, she didn't want to forsake her sight or anything else for that matter in exchange for an hour or so on the qudditch pitch with Amycus.

Oh wow Amycus, was that supposed to be intimidating? -she rolls her eyes, taking a step backwards.- Ever heard of personal space? I didn't think so... Didn't we beat you in most matches though? Which kind of says it all...

Not as quaint as you're mothers profession. How very modern.

Anastasia mirrored Blaze's expression before speaking again, her tone pleasant, "Oh you know, that arse we call a head of house. I doubt I could get away with skipping one more class as the old fool has been on my back since the first day." She huffed, thinking back to last year when she could freely skip a lesson or two without the threat of expulsion- plus, she would rather not face another grilling from her father if he heard about any more of her rebellious manners. Ana had had it up to here with her father's long and tiresome lectures on how she should live her life and another to her already long list was something she did not find extremely appealing. "Oh you know me, trying to keep my head out of trouble. We must catch up sometime- somewhere a little less dull," Ana said, sighing once more as she looked around the dungeons. "What about yourself? Haven't seen you much either, please don't say you've been avoiding me," the Ravenclaw student said with her usual smirk.
As Professor Slughorn called students to enter the classroom. The moans and groans of Ana's classmates bounced off the walls as they filled into the small classroom at the end of the hall. Ana had never really enjoyed potions, but the subject was looked highly upon when looking for a job- so naturally, Ana took it. She took a seat next to Blaze in the far corner of the room, as far away from Slughorn as was humanly possible. As she listened to what Blaze said, Ana pulled out her books and other equipment from her bag and placed them neatly on the desk. She looked at Blaze and smiled, "Don't you worry dear, I can take care of my own. Besides, I wouldn't give them the chance." Ana winked back at Blaze, her smile transforming into a sly smirk.
The lesson had been on for no longer than 10 minutes before Ana was struggling to stay awake. Her eyelids felt heavy and she placed her chin in her hands as she rested her elbow against the desk. "So, how was you summer? Pleasant I hope, seeing as the last few people I asked had nothing really positive to say on the matter of holidays."
Potions // Anastasia and Blaze
Blaze was standing in the corner, pretending to read her Transfiguration textbook. She was in a bad mood and was secretly counting the amount of people she hated and had not cursed, verses the amount of people she had, she chewed on her lip, debating lighting a fag despite her being in a classroom. She saw someone walking towards her and smiled when she recognised Anastasia. “Ana. Hello my love. What brings you to class on this bullshit morning?” She pulled out a fag. Deciding that the pros outweighed the cons. Lighting it she raised an eyebrow at Anastasia. “I haven’t seen you in a while. How are you?”
Blaze watched as the other students took their seats. Oh, how she despised people. Oh well, they could all burn in hell for all she cared. She looked at Anastasia. “You shouldn’t be so bold, my love. You could pull the wrong person’s book and get killed.” Blaze winked.

Wait. Is it me? I do tip the bar as far as bars are concerned. [she laughs playfully] Just kidding. C'mon! Tell me who it is, I promise I won't tell.
Good afternoon,
Maybe I’m a secret gossip whore. But I mostly try to stay out of it.
Tumblr media
A lot of girls in this school are below the bar. They don’t even tip the bar. But the girl I have in mind is above the bar, way above the bar. I don’t think I should tell you.

Anastasia watched Mary as she ate the truffles happily. It looked to Ana as if the girl was in some sort of daze. That no matter who or what was around her, she just acted as if the world was full of rainbows and cute things. When Mary placed the truffles next to her Anastasia looked away. She would not be tempted by the sweet smelling liquour that lay melted in the centre of the truffles. Ana looked down at the packet in awe. If she was not going to have any now, maybe if she found out where they were from, she could buy some later. Ana figured Hogsmeade, but she had not seen any sort of brandy truffles at Honeydukes, or anywhere else besides her hometown- and the ones her local chocolatier makes. "Where did you get them from?" Ana asked, gesturing towards the pack of treats.
The fact that Mary never seemed to have anything bad to say about anyone ever was so confusing to Ana. She would have labelled Mary as fake, if it wasn't for the fact that she acted like this all of the time. "Do you actually have anything other than nice things to say to people?" Ana asked, cocking a brow. Did this girl have a breaking point? At least Ana knew that Mary's other friends had a breaking point. Or was it just that they had a backbone? Ana was unsure. It made her even angrier that she could not figure out Mary- when reading people was a particular talent of Anastasia's. Whatever it was, she must have a breaking point, and Ana was determined to figure out exactly what it was.
"Do you actually have any other expression?" Anastasia asked once more, Mary had ignored the first time she had asked and the question was still applicable seeing as Mary's expression had not changed in the slightest- even when she talked; a task which Ana believed to be impossible until she met Mary a few years ago. As soon as Mary mentioned the topic of quidditch, Anastasia pulled up her barriers. Quidditch was something Anastasia was both extremely passionate and competitive about, meaning that she was not just about to spill all of Ravenclaw's tricks and plans for the upcoming season. However, Ana did not believe that Mary would be so smart enough as to inform her friends on what Ana told her; nevertheless, Ana would not say a word. She had been speaking to Lucius earlier concerning quidditch and had attempted to get some information regarding Slytherin's strategies but had gained anything of great value. Maybe Mary, in her dazed attitude tell Ana something; even though she may not have been a player on the team- Mary was close to not only the captain, James Potter, but others too like that Marlene McKinnon and the such.
"Quidditch is going great actually. We have quite a number of tricks up our sleeve for this season so I wouldn't bet too much on your team- or anyone elses for that matter." Anastasia said smugly, "we are actually going through try-outs at the moment, like every team does at the start of term. I though you would know that seeing as some of your friends do quidditch... The only person with a secure position is the captain, retard." Anastasia tilted her head and looked down at Mary, "what about Gryffindor? As poor and dull as you were last term?"
When Mary revealed her pastime, Ana could not help but errupt in a fit of laughter. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she attempted to compose herself. "Ballet? Are you kidding me?" She asked, followed by another laugh. "You can't even walk or run properly, let alone prance around in a tutu"
Encounters // Anastasia and Mary
“I guess people differ in their opinions.” She smiled and placed another truffle in her mouth, enjoying the flavours even though she had made it herself. It was her mums recipe though, so she could enjoy them and not take full credit at the same time. Mentally, she started making a list of which friends would like them and which wouldn’t so she knew how many she’d have to bake in different varieties to ensure everyone got one. She noticed Anastasia hadn’t taken any, but left them sat open next to her. “Okay. Well they’re there if you change your mind.”
Mary knew that Anastasia was switching off and deliberately being rude to her, but she was also very aware of how confusing it was when she continued being her usual self despite it. Some said it was a defense mechanism she used, but Mary was just generally happy and nice and she had never seen the point in changing it. It wasn’t that she didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone, it was more that she never saw the point in saying those bad things and putting that atmosphere back in the universe.
There seemed to be a lot of pretending on Mary’s whenever something like this happened, but she really didn’t mind. She knew that Anastasia was laughing at her, and had probably dismissed her as an opponent early into this exchange. Mary kept smiling though. She tucked a few strands of hair that were getting blown in her face behind her ear as she listened to the other girls words. “How’s Quidditch going? Is your house team already sorted or do you have more tryouts?” At least she could maybe report something back to Marlene or James from this. “I used to dance ballet, but Marley says I should try and get back into it. Y’know find some space here and practice. Other than that, I read a lot and spend time with my friends.”

I won't believe it until I see it. For all I know it is all talk and no action. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't be eligible to take Quidditch professionally, but I have other career plans in mind. Just because I don't aspire to become a quidditch player after I've graduated does not however mean that I am no longer competitive. When I enter something, I will not do it half-heartily. I mean to win.
Tumblr media
It was a joke, and exams aren't over yet. I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you. My innocence is not an act? I don't no what you're talking about -she pouts before smirking at him- But innocent as I am, I am not blind. I know what concerns you hold.
Good afternoon,
{Slightly nods his appreciation}
I’m firmly rooted on the ground, Ms Montague. No rafters for me. Actually our team is far better than it was last year. Carrow and myself spent our spare time practicing. Planning on making Quidditch something more after graduation? That’s truly the only reason I could see in keeping up with the sport. Me? Worried about exams? Hardly. I’ve got nothing but O’s in all my subjects. I see your innocence isn’t just an act.

Practice // Anastasia and Amycus
Anastasia threw her bag down onto her bed and wandered over to the mirror; tying her hair up in a ponytail before applying some minor touch ups with her makeup. Even though the official quidditch season hadn't started and no rota had been set in place to tell each house when they were allowed to practice, Ana felt the urge to get back on the broom again. Despite the fact that she had been practicing at home only one or two weeks ago when she was back at home, the Ravenclaw student felt as if she was getting rusty. This happened every year, she always needed to get back on the field before practice officially began in order to get a feel for her environment as she was so used to practicing on her grounds at home.
She took off her school robes, leaving her in only a tank top. To prevent her dying from the cold, she pulled on her quidditch training jumper. Quickly, Ana packed a small bag full of her equipment including her shin pads and gloves to put on when she reached the field. She never liked wearing them through the halls if not in the full quidditch garb as it made her feel stupid- due to the fact that Anastasia was an extremely vain person.
She exited her common room and walked through and down the corridors and staircases swiftly until she reached the grounds. The conditions were perfect; the air was still and the temperature neither warm nor cold although Ana was glad to have put on her jumper. When she got in the air later on, it would not be so mild.
Upon reaching the supplies shed, well out of sight from students she believed important, Ana pulled on her gloves and shin pads along with the rest of the necessary safety equipment. Unlocking her broom from the cupboard she mounted it, just about to kick off when she spotted someone heading towards her. "Well hello there Amycus," Ana greeted with a smirk

Geez Amycus, no need to get bitchy. I'm actually smart- as in I can get myself into the Slug club without bribery. And I'm a pretty good runner and quidditch player- better than the likes of your shitty team anyway. Then again, it wouldn't be that difficult. I fear Hufflepuff is getting stronger than you on the quidditch pitch.

Pretty much the same with me. I'll probably end up in the same career path as my father- I doubt I'd go in my mother's direction.

Why thank you, you're not too bad yourself.

So I shouldn't be expecting much from Slytherin on the quidditch pitch then? No change there then. If anyone knows about rafters Lucius, its you. Emma is all talk and no action, she really is a bad captain. Isn't it? Worried about exams are we? I suppose quidditch isn't the only thing Slytherin is slacking in then. Outside the castle? Like what? Monsters and wargs?
Good afternoon,
Your beautiful company for one.
Tumblr media
Of course we’ve got secrets, you should know that better than any of your housemates. Been in the rafters too long Anastasia? Slackers? I daresay Emma will have your head even though it is true. But Quidditch is not the only thing in life, especially these days. There are plenty of things outside this castle that my House is concerned with.

"It wouldn't take a genius to figure out someone like you don't overthink- or even think about anything. I wouldn't call it spontaneous really seeing as all you are doing is walking around aimlessly; which just so happened to cause you to end up here." The Ravenclaw watched as Mary rummaged through her bag, eventually pulling out a sandwich bag full off circular treats. The smell from them as she opened them made Ana's mouth water. They smelled of brandy, something which Anastasia was extremely fond of. Anastasia looked at Mary slightly confused as she offered her a truffle. Even though the thought of brandy truffles did sound rather appetising at that moment in time, Anastasia was not about to just take one, especially seeing as Mary had offered one to her.
Anastasia rolled her eyes when Mary laughed and started speaking some of her old lovey dovey stuff, causing her to zone out. She looked around the grounds, and then stared blankly at Mary when she had stopped speaking. "Oh- I'm so sorry, what did you say?" Anastasia asked, placing her hand on her chest dramatically, "oh wait. I just realised. I don't care."
"Can you actually pull any other expression or is your face just permanently stuck with that stupid little smile?" Anastasia asked Mary as she sat down at her feet. Fun? Was this girl serious? Her whole attitude made Ana perplexed. Was she genuine or just trying to sleek her way out of this situation..?  "I'm happy standing. Thanks." Ana said rolling her eyes once more. If Mary thought for one second that she would just sit down and have a chat with her she had another thing coming. "Fun?" Ana asked, half laughing, half confused. This girl actually thought they were going to have a conversation. To be honest, Ana couldn't be bothered to have a fight and Mary wouldn't be much of a challenge- so what was the point? "I like running. And Quidditch." she said with a flat tone. "What about you? Other than being happy. That isn't exactly a pastime as far as I'm concerned."
Encounters // Anastasia and Mary
“I don’t know. I don’t like to overthink things too much, and by just taking off and doing something spontaneous every so often, I completely reduce that risk. Sometimes it’s nice just to do something because it feels good.” She smiled. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a small sandwich bag containing some truffles she had made. She opened it and bit into one, enjoying the flavour before turning to the other girl. “Sorry, that was really rude of me, would you like a brandy truffle?” She offered the bag out, knowing that her happiness and how polite she was tended to leave people constantly perplexed.
Mary laughed happily at the other girls sarcasm. “It’s nice to know that you’ll think of me. I take my own advice all of the time. It makes me happy and keeps me relaxed. When I reduce the amount of stress that I let get on top of me, I end up with a lot more opportunities to just enjoy life. No body else has to see it the way I do, but this is how I feel and if it makes my life more enjoyable I don’t see the point in not doing it.”
She inwardly sighed as the other girl stopped her, knowing full well that she didn’t actually have a nice reason for wanting to spend more time with Mary. However, Mary’s expression never changed, she just kept smiling. “That sounds fun.” She moved to sit down next to Anastasia’s feet as she kept talking. “How about you sit down and we’ll move straight on with that. Now, we don’t usually spend time together, so I guess that conversation will be a little broad at first. What do you tend to do for fun? Maybe we can start there.”

Potions // Anastasia and Blaze
Anastasia collected her books and basic essentials for the day before piling them all into her school bag. After sorting out her hair and make-up and completing her normal day-to-day routine, she made her way down to the dungeons for her first lesson: potions.
She exited the girls dorms and out of the warmth of the Ravenclaw common room, out into the school grounds. As she reached the end of the changing staircases, down by the main gate entrance, Anastasia wished she had worn more layers. The air was crisp, with a damp element to it and the birds chirped away as they did every morning, with condensation clinging to the windows in thick layers. She sighed, shivering slightly as the cool air pricked at her skin as Anastasia crossed the courtyard and over towards the dungeons. The grass was damp and the sky clear; the aftermath of various showers from the night before. The sky was a pale yellow as the sun had just begun to rise. The recent weather conditions had matched the news in the daily prophet.
She reached the dungeons, the sounds of student voices bouncing off of the walls as they awaited their first lesson. Everyone was huddled in packs, in a hope that they would get warmer if they were closer together. Anastasia scanned the dim lit corridor in search of someone to talk to while waiting for her lesson. She spotted Blaze stood in the corner, reading a book and approached the slytherin girl in her usual arrogant fashion. "Hey there, whatcha reading?" Anastasia said with a smile, pulling Blaze's book down in order to catch her attention.

Awww, c'mon Lucius, share some secrets? Or does Slytherin not have any? I wouldn't be surprised if you don't to be honest. You were quite the slackers last year weren't you? You are right there, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
Good afternoon,
Surely it is but there are a few other pleasant things about this school. Sorry sweetheart, can’t share a thing. Vanity will surely blast me off the tallest tower. This is a new year, I wouldn’t expect anything to be the same as it was last year.

Anastasia  was unsure whether Mary was purposely trying to irritate her with that continual smile which seemed to plastered on her face 24/7 or whether it was just her personality. Whatever it was, did not reduce the amount of irritation Anastasia felt towards the girl stood in front of her. How could she possibly be happy all of the time? It was just so bizarre... "What is the point in doing anything without a purpose?" Anastasia asked raising a brow.
Anastasia's frown was replaced with a mocking smirk as she listened to what the girl had to say. Was she really that naive to think that the whole world would be saved by smiles? "Awww, well that was so touching," she said sarcastically, chuckling slightly after she had spoken, "I will keep your extremely helpful advice in mind next time- and I know. Why would you spend your time and energy doing something pointless. A bit like you coming down here for no reason at all isn't it?" Ana tilted her head, folding her arms across her chest and tapping her fingers against her elbow. "I would take your own advice next time sweetheart."
"Careful you don't fall, wouldn't want you to get hurt or anything," Ana commented laughing slightly as the girl lost her balance but soon regained it. Mary began to take a step forward, what Ana assumed to be her exiting strategy. She held her arm out, blocking the Gryffindor girl from passing. "No, no, no," Anastasia said tutting. "What's the point? You've seen me now and I've seen you. And by what you've just said- I didn't hear that you had any plans. Why don't we enjoy each others company for a bit hmm?"
Encounters // Anastasia and Mary
“Yeah well, I didn’t know you’d be out here otherwise I would have been more careful not to come this way.” Keep smiling, she thought to herself, smiling is going to bug her more than anything else you could do. “I just fancied a bit of a walk to nowhere really. And when I got to wherever nowhere decided to be, I thought I’d read for a little bit and then decide what I fancied doing after that. The others have classes or things to do, so I wanted a bit of quiet.”
Mary knew that people hated the fact that she stayed positive, but really what else could she do? She either stayed upbeat and got on with her life, or she gave in. She wasn’t ready to stop trying, there was still a little bit of fight in her keeping her afloat and she was planning on clinging to it. “I think that if people work harder to smile through problems there would be less arguments. It takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown and why waste energy on something as pointless as an expression?” She lost her balance a little when she was pushed, but regained it quickly and crossed her arms over her chest.
“I won’t be here again then. And if you don’t mind, I’ll just get on my way and go about my plans. It’s a big enough ground that we don’t have to see each other again.” She knew that Anastasia was trying to intimidate her, but after what Amycus had done to her, she wasn’t about to feel bad. Whatever this girl chose, it couldn’t be as bad as that.
